Very well made video and very informative. Thank you!
You're welcome ChevySpeed, thanks for watching, hope it helps.
Awesome tutorial...learned a bunch...now I shall apply in beautiful boston harbor and surrounding area...thank you!!
Thanks Harry, you can try it in Honolulu too! Thanks for watching.
@@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore most definitely!!...Hawaii no later oi...
.I forwarded this several boaters at my yc...south boston yacht club...they loved the info too
Wow thanks Leon. I’m sharing this video with others in my marina. Powerful app!
Yeah, it's good stuff. Share away! Thanks for watching.
WOW, I didnt know even 5% of how much power is in this app. Thanks for sharing. I will probably reference this video a lot this season. Happy Boating.
Yeah the auto route feature will get you through Moriches Bay! Let's test it out.
great info
Very informative and detailed. Gonna get the app today!! Thanks
They apparently now charge, but still a great app. Thanks for watching.
Great info on this great app. Downloading today. I subscribe. Fellow Long Islander that left for Florida in 1986.
Good stuff Jim! Thanks. Where in Florida do you do your boating? May settle down there soon.
Great overview of the app and thank you for that.
No problem, and thanks for watching Mario.
Hard to believe it is free! Works great on any tablet with GPS, with or without a cellular connection.
Great introduction video buddy, originally from upstate (Binghamton) living in Florida down in the keys for the week, again HELPFUL video
Thanks Mark, and thanks for watching.
Good explanation and very helpful. ⛵️
Thanks for sharing Greetings from beautiful Hawaii 🏝 islands.
Aloha!! Thanks for watching.
BEST video on this app. Thank you. Funny I've had and used this app for years and didn't know It had all those features lol
Since I don't have any fancy equipment on my boat what I did was used an old iPad. Downloaded the app , got a waterproof case and mount for it, and mounted it to my dash. Works great too and looks like I have some high tech stuff going on hahaha. But in all honesty this app is a life saver.
Good stuff, glad to hear you enjoyed the video and you’re enjoying the app too! Thanks for watching.
Nice 👍 thanks for the great job 👏
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
Very great video!!!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks very informative
Thanks for watching Joe!
Wow, this video is very helpful for new users like me. Thank you captain for sharing. All i need to know now is the settings of this app and i wanted the same like your settings. 🙏
Thanks Edsel, glad you liked it.
Definitely the best marine app on the market
Great video, I have Navionics installed on my Simrad and really like it. I have to say though, this app is awesome and so much easier than using the chart plotter. Thanks for another intuitive video.
Thanks for watching!
great tutorial. thanks
Thanks Chuck, and thanks for watching!
This is very informativ.. Thaks so mch.
All good! Safe boating, and thanks for watching.
Thanks I have boat and sea kayaks. Very useful. I may go 15-25 miles or more a day.
Good stuff, thanks for watching and be safe!
Outstanding thanks
My pleasure Mark, thanks for watching.
Great tool.
Hey Navionics, get this man a free year subscription….. he’s doin one hellofa job sellin your product
Johny, when I made the video the app was free, things have changed. I made the video to show some fellow boaters a great tool. Never got a dime from navionics, but they take my money every year..lol.
Capt. any additional info on how it ties up to Active Captain or your on board Garmin? I have both with Garmin 7612
No problem DK, glad it helped. Thanks for watching
I need to know....does it require network to work?
I believe just gps@@migzmor
Thanks! You described the use of the measuring tool for heading but you had it opposite. The red dot is where you’re going and the purple is where you are (or trying to get the heading from). A quick click changes them
Thanks! I appreciate that. Always learning :). Thanks for watching.
great great video my son the best
Great video and more importantly good sound. I’m new to this app and getting a real kick out of it thank you so much for the video. I was curious if you know why when you’re in sonar chart shading as your pinch and zoom the map changes from one layout to another for instants when you’re zoomed in it shows blue and the contour of the bottom and as you widen out it becomes yellow and more like a normal map is there a way to adjust this. I’d love to have it blue with the contour of the bottom no matter if I’m zoomed in or out? Thank you Chris
Good question Chris, but I honestly don't know. I wonder if there is a way to reach out to Navionics directly? Good luck and thanks for watching!
Great video Captain. If you are zoomed in on a route, does the map move as you're navigating along the route? I have used the app, and as I'm navigating a route I have to move the map manually. I have found this to be distracting. Am I doing something wrong?
Great question Joseph, I honestly don't recall. My next time out I will check that out. I use the Navionics as a back up to my Lowrance Chartplotter these days. I can see where that would be annoying as you describe it.
Yes, but you have to click on the current location arrow in the bottom left corner. If you click on it again it can cycle through various options. I like the option which draws a red line pointing in the direction I want to go.
There are some areas in the New York harbor that it has some glitches also, it should have night mode but it doesn’t.
Good point Anderson, thanks for watching!
I realise this was two years ago, but perhaps you can answer this if I had a VHF with AIS can I overlay it onto Navionics or does Navionics have AIS? Thank you for this video. Very useful.
I'm sorry Mark, for that I really have no idea.
Great .
Good video. My question is, if you are using the app on a mobile device and you're out of cell service range, would the app still work based on GPS?
I believe so Dan. I'll have to try turning my data and wifi off to see what happens next time out.
@@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore Yes it will, but first you will need to download the area to your phone in the app. All you need is a GPS supported phone or tablet.
Hi Captain Leon, I've just installed this app and was shocked that it doesn't offer any kind of anchor alarm. What setup do you have alongside this app as an anchor watch / alarm?
Many thanks
Hey Debbi, While I love having this app I also have a Lowrance Chartplotter Fish finder installed on the boat. Perhaps Navionics will add this feature soon. Thanks for watching!
I Think one get a lot of tools for a Low fare. Thanks 👌
Thanks for watching Lars!
I took a US CG AUX boating course and this is the app they recommended. Endorsement by those guys is good enough for me!
Yeah, agreed. Just wish they wouldn't charge so much these days.
Hi Capt. Great video but it will cost me 50 bucks per year. Here in wisconsin thtat's pretty pricy for 7 montshs use.
I hear ya Bill. They have changed their policies and pricing as well sadly. Safe boating!
Glad to see you have +/- . Pinch to zoom is not ideal for mobile devices.
True Sean, very true. Thanks for watching.
I have the $15 per year app, and I cannot point/touch and get instant routing as shown, is that a higher level per year?
No, should be included in the basic $15 per year plan.
mint
Nice tutorial idol
Thanks Barcial!
Hey Capt. Will it work in The Bahamas?
I’m honestly not sure, you may have to pay them a fee for certain maps. Try to contact their customer service.
Trying to understand what this app can do for me that my old garmin 54dv can't. I've got a newer 94sv that does all of this as well. Someone please tell me why I 'need' the navionics app!
Capt Leon, I subscribed to the app but cant get it to provide an auto route. It just charts a straight line between two points. I must be missing a setting. Can you comment?
First click "Route", then click "Automatic". Hold your finger to set the first point, then hold it to set a second point and the app will auto-route a course. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Thanks for your great video. I learned a lot. However, I cannot make automatik routes. The route created is a Line crossing land. Sometimes it works all right but I never know when. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks a lot
How do you preset the boat information into the boat
Hey Life raft fam, it should be in the settings of the app, if you can't find it let me know and I will look further. Thanks for watching.
Leon what is name of that cove in LI where you did yamapalooza ? thnx
Great Gun Beach, Moriches Bay, you in the area?
@@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore im in North jersey , but have family in oysterB..thanks .... this weather doesnt want to turn up north for us ha ?
@@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore Leo i just did my new impellers and housings i added a small dab of 4200 instead of lock tight to my bolts housing and nozz ... think ill be ok ? or am i in trouble ?
@@demolaj1 I think you’re ok. The loctite that they call for in the manual is 572. While the brand name is loctite, it’s just a sealant, not a thread locking agent like some of their other products. As long as it’s tightened down to specs you are fine in my opinion.
@@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore thanks Bud .. i did a test subject on my work bench with nut and bolt tightened with 4200 going to let it dry for a few weeks and test removing and differnt sprays and heat if necessary so im prepared if i encounter removal issues ...Looks like weather is starting to turn for us northies ! =)
so I have the app on my phone- how do I get this to show or work on my Simrad?
Tony, I don't know. I only know it as a mobile app.
Hello, would you happen to know how can I import GPX files from my Garmin Fish Finder to this mobile app?
I'm sorry sir, but I'm not familiar with that, sorry about that.
Installed but live in area by Indians Ocean and not in NOAA's charts for $15
That's too bad Joe S., but thanks for watching!
Can you send to tablet on Bluetooth?
Do you know the name of the intro song?
Sorry Timmy I don't recall, but thanks for watching.
Will this work on my phone of i lose cell service
Will BTC go back to 69K? Yes! Should work with the phones GPS. Thanks for watching.
@@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore great info..thanks for sharing!
I can't find the free version. It asks to subscribe or start the free trial
Sadly, they have changed things since the release of this video.
it said its only free for two weeks for me. two week trial.
👍👍👍👍
Thanks Helton!
Does anyone know how I can get AIS from my chartplotter onto the Navionics on my i pad , please 🙏
Sorry Mark, I don't. Good luck!
@@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore Ok thanks , I know it can be done because I’ve seen it on “ sailing brothers “ , cheers .
It's not free you have to setup an account and get a 2 weeks free trial. I don't know what happened after the trial
Wow, perhaps they changed it. Thanks for letting us know Dutch, and thanks for watching.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
You say it’s free but when you download it says 50.00 a year
Hello ipg, yeah it appears since the making of the video they have made some changes, I didn't think it was $50 per year, heard it was much less. That's not good.
Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
So I'm guessing that you do not need a WiFi signal to use it?
Correct, no wifi needed just GPS signal.
They only give 2 weeks free then you have to pay
Hey Maria, that had not been my experience. Perhaps it's changed or varies by location.
Great app but not free in Europe. For the map of Europe you have to pay 50$ per year.I paid because it's worth the money.
I was happy till this year when they want to charge $50 per year, forget it
I agree, always looking to make a buck.
These app reviews COMPLETELY leave out the fact that you CANNOT see the screen on your phone in the sun...which is about 99% of the time we're on a boat.
Very true Mark, very true!
Seems like nothing but a promotion for Navionics.
Lol. I wish Steve, that would mean they should pay me, and I would gladly accept it. Nah, never got a dime, just impressed by the app and wanted to share with my fellow boaters.
NOT free at all, this is very misleading!
My apologies for any misleading information. Apparently Navionics has changed their policies recently and fees are now part of thier program now.
Capt. any additional info on how it ties up to Active Captain or your on board Garmin? I have both with Garmin 7612
I’m not sure, perhaps if it uses a Navionics card. Give Navionics a call, they have decent customer service last I tried to reach them.
@@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore I will and I’ll keep you posted. It will be so cool if they do tie
