    I would just to say a big thank you to everyone who ordered my book last week and to all of you who sent me such kind reviews. It really does mean a lot. Today we finally get to paint the Northern Lights! This has been requested for quite a while so I’m extremely glad that we were able to do a video on it. I hope you enjoy!

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a fan brush would be a great choice for the portion of the lights where you pull the paints upwards!

    Simple, Fast and Beautiful! Not much effort, but maximum effect. That's what I love about your 10 min vids :D. I love this new piece! Thanks for sharing! I will definitely make this one this weekend. I'm wondering though, is it okay that I paint my white canvas black and leave it to dry before I do it?

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Much appreciated! I did exactly what you’re planned on doing. I added two layers of black paint to a white canvas and let it fully dry. I hope that helps!

    what size canvas do you typically use for your 10 minute paintings?

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It differs. However, I wouldn't worry about the canvas size when you're following tutorials. Just be aware that the larger the canvas is the more detail you can implement

    This might be a dumb question but do you prime your canvas before you paint ?

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not prime my canvases necessarily. But in this lesson the canvas was painted with acrylic mars black paint and allowed to fully dry before painting. Hope that helps!

  • @zinebbenchekroun3589
    @zinebbenchekroun3589 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is beautiful you did a great job but I'm so disappointed that you painted the faraway mountains and you did not showed up how to do it, I spent a LOT of time, effort and acrylic paints and I still don't get it, my painting is now full of shit in gray and blue and black, really disappointed...

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually didn't leave anything out. 1:21 to 1:56 was the entire process of painting the mountains. I didn't do anything between the video cuts aside from move the camera. The colors were just more noticeable because they weren't reflecting at that angle.

    • @zinebbenchekroun3589
      @zinebbenchekroun3589 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is because I did the same thing as you but nothing shows up that there were mountains, it is just ends up with something grey, what color did you use for it ?

    • @zinebbenchekroun3589
      @zinebbenchekroun3589 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      And I wanted to say something else, that I am so sorry for my bad thinking and if I onffended you I apologize for this, because yesterday I was so angry that my painting was damaged and now I am sorry for this.

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just used grey. However, I ensured that one side was a darker grey than the other. I also incorporate small inconsistency (like paths) Just ensure you have a bright side, a dark side, and some contrast :)
