    Your attention to detail is admirable. My first sewing teacher (from 54 yrs ago) would be thrilled. Your attention to finishing brings back so much of what I've forgotten. Thanks.

    It's absolutely perfect! What a darn pretty armhole, and the v is so crisp and lovely. Bands on v-necks are always a bit of fuss to get them right, but a lined bodice just takes care of it straight away and so much more cleanly.

      Elizabeth Made This I prefer this look and how supportive having two layers feels. The v neck band is ok for t shirts... for dresses? Mmmm I don’t know.

    I just came across this video even though it is an old one, I learned alot from this. I especially liked your commentary about the neckline and having a larger bust. I do too and I get tired of patterns that don't consider this, even in a larger size. I really like the burrito method of sewing the lining, it looks so easy, but I am still afraid to try it! I will have to practice on scraps for a while first. Thank you for this video. I always learn something new from you.

    Loved your video ... I don't know if anyone has mentioned, Jenny from Cashmerette drafts for 5ft 6" . Her patterns with bodices she deliberately drafts with a higher waist to slim the figure. She said she finds that larger busted women are often more "round" in the tummy area, so she raises the waistline to give the illusion of a slimmer waist ( about 3-4" under the bust around the ribcage rather than around a full tummy. Cashmerette has a video on pattern fitting where she explains her fit and sizing. Thankyou for posting this - your dress looks lovely!

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I’m very aware of the way she drafts. Unfortunately it’s a poor fit for me because I’m taller. I have to do major adjustments to all Cashmerette patterns for them to hit my actual waist :)

  • @addiekl
    @addiekl 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Lovely dress! I have made the Cashmerette Appleton wrap dress and the waist was also shorter than I expected: It fit me but I am 5'4" and normally shorten bodice lengths by at least an inch. Also I usually shorten sleeves but again, did not need to. The only adjustment I made for the Appeton was to shorten the dress hem. Cashmerette is drafted for a height of 5'6". So it makes sense that you may need to lengthen the waist. I have also made the Cashmerette Concord Tee and like it a lot too.

    Thank you for this video! I have the perfect fabric for a sleeveless turner and now I know how to line it perfectly (: Since I am a beginner I have a question regarding your stiching, do you use a straight stich when sewing up the neckline and doing the topstiching? Isn't there a risk for popped stiches when you use a straight stich on a knit fabric?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sara Lahti I did use straight stitch because this is a stable knit and the neckline doesn’t stretch like a side seam would. The result is more crisp, specially at the “V” with a straight stitch.

    Karina, that Turner dress looks great on you and the fabric is lovely. Thanks for showing it to us. Did you consider the instruction step in the pattern to trim 1/8 inch from the neckline (and the armscye in your case because you made it sleeveless)? I saw a video recently that explained it really well. Because the lining is slightly smaller than the bodice it turns the bodice edge under just slightly to the lining side so the lining will not show. The channel was Inside the Hem and here's a link if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/35Uqf6WKTtM/w-d-xo.html. Thanks again, I look forward to all your videos.

      Marina Belanger oh yes, that's called favouring and I'd do that with woven garments for sure. For this pattern I didn't as I self lined and under stitched :)
