The biggest problem Microsoft has is they cannibalized their own economy with game pass. Yes, they have 35 million subscribers. But Sony has around 47 million ps+ subscribers, plus sells games full price. If game pass subs don’t really go up after this, it could spell doom for Xbox because the investors who basically gave loans to buy all these developers want their money back with a return on their investment. Microsoft eventually wants Xbox to pay back all debts and be in the net positive for their company.

This should help their console sales and help subscriptions grow. Since we now know about half of the players from last gen haven't bought new consoles. These people are likely mostly casuals who play games like COD. I'm sure MS will be self serving and strategic as to when they decide to stop releasing last generation versions of games like COD. Perhaps they will do it if they release a new console in 2026. Playstations subscription numbers aren't really very relevant to this discussion. If somebody can get their kid Cod for $20, save $50, they will be way more willing to give into the cash shop. Casuals will think, " Wow! I saved $70! " , and thus buy a few $20 bundles because they saved the initial cost of the game. It's not rocket science, they know what their doing.
Not to mention most people don't get a game pass sub for one month, especially for a game like COD. You gotta figure most new game pass subs are good for at least six months if they don't get hooked.

Let's do the real math. Most gamepass subs are ultimate. 16.99$ a month. Gamepass is a small portion of income. With micro transaction, studios producing games they own. Their revenue was 211.9 billion last year. 13% increase first quarter this year. It's continuing to increase regardless of bad decisions. Consoles aren't what they profit from. They even said they take a loss with consoles on purpose so we can afford them. Xbox won't go anywhere. Cod plus everything else will make back everything they spent easily. I think it's a case of DreamcastGuy coping that Game Pass takes a dump all over PS Plus in a direct comparison. The value proposition is dramatically better even with a 2nd price hike against Game Pass. Sony can't match Microsoft financially and clearly they don't want to compete in the subscription wars. I am gamepass user and current subscriber; and if gamepass gets a price increases I am totally cool because I would have cheaper way to support my COD single player addiction along with the bunch of over games coming out. I am type of person if something provides value, I will stay sub and currently it does.
What makes the most sense is an Xbox handheld. Companies have been successful with PC handhelds, Sony is not competing in the market, and Microsoft's main desire is getting people on the cloud. A handheld is the most likely way to get more cloud users.
Don't jump to conclusions. There is a chance that Microsoft could buy Valve it might happen down the line. I've had Game Pass since it first came out, I have never purchased a COD game. I may play the upcoming COD just because I've already paid for it with my subscription, but it is mostly irrelevant to me, I'm more looking forward to Indiana Jones and the DLC for Starfield.

Offer those PS4 COD users a free month of Gamepass for PC and Console (ad when you launch the game). Advertise all the back catalog of COD games they could play and discounts on COD microtransactions as part of Gamepass membership.

Even if COD doesn't skyrocket Game Pass, I don't think they will be ending the service, they might just tone it down a bit, less Day One third parties, more indies than AAA and AA games, and things like that. But I doubt they won't see SOME jump in the revenue, because even if Game Pass does not gain a lot of new subscribers, a portion of the current subs will play, and maybe spend on COD, so the revenue might go up considerably anyway.
Xbox and gamepass will never shut down. They will keep adding titles to it and with it's massive library of games it will last for decades. Adding a new title to gamepass will just continually add more value to it. Microsoft essentially made one of the most profitable platforms in the world right up next to Steam. It's quite an achievement honestly.

I dont understand what he means. I have only bought 5 games for my game pass and i currently have over 60. If we assume that i have exactly 60 games and still have all 5 games that ive bought installed (neither of which are true), i would still have 55 games for $10 a month and can still get more. Some of the games even cost $60-$70. Game pass is doing very well financially for xbox, if it weren't they wouldn't spend as much money on it as they do.
I unsubbed awhile back and COD doesn't make me want to sub again. And if it gets a price increase, that would justify buying games up on steam sales even more, which is what I've been doing for awhile now. The more pricey you make renting, the more it makes sense to just buy stuff on sale so its on your account permanently.
I like my Gamepass, and I like my Xbox. If for whatever reason Gamepass goes away because the CoD thing does not work out...then oh well. I have both Xbox and PS5 (Solely for the lackluster exclusives they have brought out so far) Way I see it, if Gamepass dies, then oh well, will just enjoy the service for as long as it lasts. Let's do the real math. Most gamepass subs are ultimate. 16.99$ a month. Gamepass is a small portion of income. With micro transaction, studios producing games they own. Their revenue was 211.9 billion last year. 13% increase first quarter this year. It's continuing to increase regardless of bad decisions. Consoles aren't what they profit from. They even said they take a loss with consoles on purpose so we can afford them. Xbox won't go anywhere. Cod plus everything else will make back everything they spent easily. This guy did not research anything
I think it's a case of DreamcastGuy coping that Game Pass takes a dump all over PS Plus in a direct comparison. The value proposition is dramatically better even with a 2nd price hike against Game Pass. Sony can't match Microsoft financially and clearly they don't want to compete in the subscription wars. Their offerings in recent months have been average at best. And plenty of stinker months for PS Plus.

I am gamepass user and current subscriber; and if gamepass gets a price increases I am totally cool because I would have cheaper way to support my COD single player addiction along with the bunch of over games coming out.
I am type of person if something provides value, I will stay sub and currently it does.
What makes the most sense is an Xbox handheld. Companies have been successful with PC handhelds, Sony is not competing in the market, and Microsoft's main desire is getting people on the cloud. A handheld is the most likely way to get more cloud users.

I've had Game Pass since it first came out, I have never purchased a COD game. I may play the upcoming COD just because I've already paid for it with my subscription, but it is mostly irrelevant to me, I'm more looking forward to Indiana Jones and the DLC for Starfield.

I've had Game Pass at numerous points. Not currently subbed but hoping to get a longer duration. Don't like the 1 or 3 month thing. CoD alone wouldn't be the full tip but I am very intrigued for Black Ops 6. I'm also hoping the past ones go in, that'd be my break as I Want to play the different campaigns! Now, if a JRPG besides Persona 6 gets announced for Game Pass? I'll do my best to sub.

Even if COD doesn't skyrocket Game Pass, I don't think they will be ending the service, they might just tone it down a bit, less Day One third parties, more indies than AAA and AA games, and things like that. But I doubt they won't see SOME jump in the revenue, because even if Game Pass does not gain a lot of new subscribers, a portion of the current subs will play, and maybe spend on COD, so the revenue might go up considerably anyway.
Xbox and gamepass will never shut down. They will keep adding titles to it and with it's massive library of games it will last for decades. Adding a new title to gamepass will just continually add more value to it. Microsoft essentially made one of the most profitable platforms in the world right up next to Steam. It's quite an achievement honestly.
If Xbox *does* go under, it won't be for this.

As a PlayStation centered gamer I highly disagree with his take. I think Microsoft will capitalize on COD on game pass. The game has shown people that they make A HUGE AMOUNT of money on micro transactions. Letting game pass players play will let them play for free and be more willing to buy skins.

Saying black ops 6 can cause the death of game pass is maximum cap. We’re getting games like south of midnight,the game that’s being made by the bioshock devs and avowed coming to gamepass. Plus despite how bad the campaigns are people are still playing the multiplayer feature so that means even if people don’t like the meat and potatoes of the game (campaign and zombies) there’s still gonna be a lot of players that will play the multiplayer

I dont understand what he means. I have only bought 5 games for my game pass and i currently have over 60. If we assume that i have exactly 60 games and still have all 5 games that ive bought installed (neither of which are true), i would still have 55 games for $10 a month and can still get more. Some of the games even cost $60-$70. Game pass is doing very well financially for xbox, if it weren't they wouldn't spend as much money on it as they do.

I unsubbed awhile back and COD doesn't make me want to sub again. And if it gets a price increase, that would justify buying games up on steam sales even more, which is what I've been doing for awhile now. The more pricey you make renting, the more it makes sense to just buy stuff on sale so its on your account permanently.
I like my Gamepass, and I like my Xbox. If for whatever reason Gamepass goes away because the CoD thing does not work out...then oh well. I have both Xbox and PS5 (Solely for the lackluster exclusives they have brought out so far) Way I see it, if Gamepass dies, then oh well, will just enjoy the service for as long as it lasts. Honestly hoping that they make the Activision a tiered thing, or an option if they are gonna increase the price, that way no one needs to pay extra for regular, or Ultimate, Gamepass where they would never even touch and Activision game. Personally, I'm looking forward to playing my first CoD game in I dunno how many years, more than 10, anyway.

Don't really care for COD as I haven't bought a COD game since Advanced Warfare on the Xbox 360 and have no desire to play any of the recent titles. I'm not even bother not fully completing any COD games that are currently on my gamertag as I just play them for the Campaign not so much on the Zombies or Multiplayer.
Actually… Microsoft will make waaaay more money from COD than they ever had. Xbox usually gets 8% of COD sales and only make 30% of the sales and micro transactions.
Now, they will make 70% of the revenue off 92% of the COD sales and micro transactions from PS5 and PC players… and boost their Gamepass Subs while only risking 8% of their Xbox sales.
