I love that you're into both Pokemon AND Donkey Kong Country! Those are my two favorite Nintendo franchises! Also, that first battle...hate to say it but could have been won if Banette was a special wall instead I think... But try new things, I guess. Great and fun to watch video! Glad you won the other ones!
Jim. Ive been watching alot of your Gen 3 OU content. Its pretty epic. I dont know if its dead nowadays but it would be cool to see some new vids. Thanks champ
The idea that Banette is even maybe a bit viable is super cool considering I have a lot of teams that have it as a spin blocking knock off user, but I never use them cause I feel like that niche isn’t powerful enough to make it worthwhile
Banette is secretly nuts keep it to yourself. Only Ghost type that can threaten pursuit Tyranitar with HP Fighting. Destroys Skarm+Bliss with Taunt and Wisp. This is very secret information do not tell anybody.
Its pretty cool to watch how this channel has grown. Great job Jim, good vibes, great commentary. I am a gen3 lurker, can you do a charizard substitute, belly drum team doctor episode?
Matthawk's team has different sets, but they are the same pokemon as the sample team Jolteon Starm Spike Stack by Kerts. The only rock resist is Metagross. I've been playing with the sample team and it's been mostly great, but you have to be super careful when facing sweepers like Dragon Dance Tyranitar or Salamence. Sometimes I've misplayed against the two and basically lost by giving the opponent a single setup turn
Weirdly I just did a write up for the TruePokemon subreddit on the history of Shadow Ball. Banette was the only Ghost that used physical Ghost STAB competitively, outside of goofy Physical Gengar/Missy sets. Even though Gar was the only Ghost solidly OU, we started to see the dominance of the Ghost type as Missy, banette, and Sableye were quite dominant in the lower tiers.
I was using banette as a spin blocker since it has knock off too. It's shadow ball hits harder than gengars too I think. Insomnia is super useful against the uncommon breloom and smeargle leads. Glalie, banette, hariyama and kingdra have been the UUBL mons I've had the most luck with, especially yama. Umbreon is dope too as a wall but it's doesn't really make much progress, just stalls. If anyone has any other suggestions for UUBL mons to try out lmk.
I personally struggle to enjoy RSE as games so Gen 3 was never my thing but I have to say you're really winning me over here. You never see this kind of tech develop in any other generation.
The odds of not only landing a hydro pump, but having it crit is 5% The odds of landing the second hydro pump crit through paralysis, is 3.75% The odds of just landing hydro pump through paralysis, and avoiding tbe flinch of rock slide, is 42% The combined odds of all three of these happening in a row is 0.07875% The luck for the first match is so high that its more than a 1 in 1000 chance
What do Skarmory and Jolteon have in common? They die to a critical hit Hydro Pump.
125(Edit:115) attack with STAB shadow ball with choice band is so spammable. Only thing it really needed is base 100/90 speed.
Literally the only Ghosf that made good use of the old physical Shadow Ball
115 atk actually and it by no means “needed” to be able to hit the 328 speed tier
It'd be spammable if the pokemon could ever get in on anything but a double
@@tylerd1297dusclops
@oscarsullivan5983 it needs something, either speed or bulk
I am definitely a Generation 9 refugee, so its nice to see you in your home turf. Keep it up, Mr. Cool
Don't like Gen 9?
That double pump crit opening 💀💀💀
They had a DDOS as their rock resist
so true
Yessssssss more gen 3, I’ve been running Banette as well, and it’s been really nice to me so far, so nice in fact that it’s now on 75% of my teams
Pretty happy with the changes you made, I was happy with the 6 but never got the synergies right. Happy Xmas
Things I can’t live without: food, water, gen 3 ou
I believe it, Jimothy. You wouldn't lie
I played in game 3* and I was not aware of the hp fighting banette.
GG!
GG! Ill be yoinking this for one of my own teams. Super cool.
Best day of the year so far, gen 3 Jimothy Cool content, life couldn’t be better
shoutouts to snibbor hitting that double pump crit and immediately apologizing lmaooo
Banette is undoubtedly a pokemon.
Its 2023 and gen 3 ou is still cool. Thanks for the awesome content!
This video made my day God bless your soul banette will always be the goat in my heart
you should have simply turned your ttar into a grass type pokemon to beat that vaporeon. we call that high level gameplay in generation 9.
Keep up the grind bro
Ggs, was Fromthebeyond, that was first time hopping into the ladder
GG!
@@o7.oliver idk why he wants stolen valor but it wasn’t him lmfao
back to watch the classics. "Ive got a damn banette" Made me my night.

Thanks Monkey man. I may do some more Gen 3 ladder on the 2nd channel soon
@@jimothycool the mad lad. Breakfast in hand, reading comments.
It do be a triple OHKO hydro-pump day sometimes
You have the best background songs playing
YAS DOUBLE UPLOAD🥳

Me sinto em um universo paralelo, pois nunca vi Banette ser usada em OU antes.
This was a Trainwreck
BR 🇧🇷
Remember folks in older gens crits do 2x damage unlike in modern gens where they do 1.5x
I know it sounds weird but I hate it when people skip the battle animations I really love them lol Great video tho!
Its pretty cool to watch how this channel has grown. Great job Jim, good vibes, great commentary. I am a gen3 lurker, can you do a charizard substitute, belly drum team doctor episode?
welcome home king 👑 💙💙
This is so random but Bannete is my fav pokemon lol

The big thing that I'm getting from this video is that I should lead vaporeon with scope lens.
ADV is back on the menu boys!
What an epic DC by Showdown.
That first game wtf

banette is UU
Banette and Gengar the G(H)OA(S)TS
Gen III lessgoooo
I bet that Vaporeon had specs or something. Maybe mystic water?
If you're talking about Choice Specs, it doesn't exist in gen 3
maybe you should run hydro pump vaporeon instead xD
Good Mon, even without that poor RNG it would've been a rough lead matchup
banette is definitely cool
I did world record with banette in battle frontier
Gen 3 were my first games. Love emeralds’ music so much
Perhaps Knock Off should have been swapped with Destiny Bond(0:22). After Joteon Paralyzes an opponent, Banette can use Destiny Bond for a good trade.
I usually use Taunt in place of Knock Off now on Banette to prevent Skarm from making Spikes, and Blissey from Healing
Banette was going CRAZY
Yo Jimmy, lets battle, im tryna grow my channel an i can spam rain teams
