I love how banette’s niche in the format is displayed in so few battles, from absorbing sleep, threatening Gengar with stab shadow balls and trading respectable damage onto ttar. Truly insane feats gengar cannot replicate

What separates Banette from Blaziken is the ability to get free turns. Bannette has immunity to normal, thus Rapid Spin crucially, and sleep. This means it can come in on things it wants to lure while Ken can't come in except from a KO or risk getting severely chipped. While Blaziken has coverage for nearly everything, it doesn't have a good neutral attack to spam. In comparison, Banette's Shadow Ball actually is resisted by very little because so many of the Steels are also Psychics, while Tar is slower and also chunked by HP Fighting. In short, Banette is a gamer's pokemon.
Initially I was highly alarmed but was reassured once I learned that we were Banette gaming.

idk if its a common set or if kollin designed it himself but that zap set seems really powerful especially in the team. the whole hp ice vs hp grass debate is really hard to answer a lot of the time, but drill peck, as well as being excellent physical coverage and a one shot on many fighting types, is also super effective stab coverage against celebi. hp ice's job is to hit grass or ground as well as snipe mence, but drill peck hits grass, hp grass hits ground and the team has two strong fast tbolts to hit mence as well as ice beam defensive swampert to check it
Those was certainly a series of games. Banette being worth more than three blazikens, gengar missing three hypnosis moves in a row (two on banette who is sleep immune for extra irony), triple para focus punch tar, petaya sub swampert...
Those are worth of a xtina commentary at least !

This set tries to be a pivot for defensive Pokémon, using Taunt to nullify their tools and then Knock-Off when they switch.
• Taunt is the main move of the set, nullifying Wish, Softboiled, Spikes and Whirlwind from Blissey, Skarmory and Forretress, the last also being prevented from using Rapid Spin.
• Knock-Off is used after forcing switches after Taunt and blocking Rapid Spin, making small holes in the opposing team.
• Seismic Toss must be used during switches or to damage Blissey while it cannot use Wish and Softboiled.
• Timid 138 Speed surpasses Skarmory without investment. This allows Sableye to use Taunt before Skarmory or use Recover before being KO'd for Drill Peck.
• 248 HP and 122 Defense allows Sableye to better resist Skarmory and Forretress.

why is marrowak the most common agility recipient with speed pass teams ? wouldn’t it be better for something like metagross or ttar to be the best bc of their greater bulk and typing than mono ground ?

@@wacobodene3453 with thick club, marowak has more atk than gross or ttar, AND it gets swords dance. It also has base 45 speed, which means a jolly nature max speed can outrun everything with an agility pass
Cool to see Banette getting more love. I personally prefer Knock Off over Taunt but god damn is it a fun mon either way
Taunt is sooooo much more useful than knock on super high paced teams such as this
Wait, why have both zap and jolt be HP grass? Wouldn't it help for one of them to be HP Ice?
Focusing on two electric attackers and ttar as the team’s main offence makes it so that it struggles into swampert a lot. Having hp grass on both helps alleviate this issue especially as the main hp ice target salamence is hit neutrally by their electric stab. I’m not especially familiar with gen 3 ou specifically so there may be more nuance but I believe this is the main reason
Fast Tbolt chunks Mence well enough. Zap has Drill Peck for Grass Types. No need for HP Ice.

Yeah, I honestly think it's wild how they're thinking of banning god damn sand attack of all things, which makes the opponent miss 25% of the time. But somehow, spreading paralysis, which completely blocks you from doing anything 25% of the time, is completely fine and in the spirit of competition?

Attacks don't deal the same amount of damage every time, there's a Range of damage they can deal. I was checking the damage roll, the chances of not killing Snorlax there were possible but very low
