    I have the K2 3500 - is it worth upgrading to the K3?

      There's certainly nothing wrong with the K2 3500! I do like the bag configuration and hip belt a lot better with the K3 though. The U-shaped zipper, and tri-fold Velcro to remove the bag from the frame is a lot more user friendly. I felt like the new hip belt is definitely more comfortable to me as well and I notice that the K3 seemed to handle loads a bit better.. The K2 is obviously still an amazing pack though.

      Is there a noticeable size difference in the 4800 when compared to the K2 3500... I own the 3500 but want an un expanded noticeable size difference in order to make the jump ? TY.

      Thanks for the questions and sorry for the slow reply. I just now saw the comment. I don't think there is really noticeable difference. If I'm not mistaken, the 3500 was given that name based on the main bag volume, not counting the 700ci for the side compartments, or the lid(another 400ci), so really there is little difference in size, but the new name more accurately describes the overall size of the pack. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions!

      @@BackwoodsPursuit Cheers that's what I thought too ... maybe marginally bigger ... I had the K2 3500 and loaded up for 6nights last year early spring here in alpine Australia... it was a push as I used the load shelf for my food to get it to work .... I'm think the K3 6400 would be the go for stalking day trips cynched, great for 3-4 nighters and ideal for the odd 6-7 nighter. Still pack appropriately and gram count but the bag will fit everything required if need be.

    I love all the changes they made to the 4800 over the 3500. Lots of little things that have made it so much more convenient and easier to use. Adding the second pocket to the lid, the U Shaped front, the larger water bottle pockets on the side are very nice. I LOVE the water bladder pocket that they added, it was always suck a pain to open and basically have to dump the main bag to get to and replace the bladder. I Did like the open front stretch pocket more than the new zipper front pocket, however.

      Yeah, these are all some great points! I agree that the new water bladder pocket is super nice. Like you said, a ton of little changes that really make a big difference!

    Great review. I just purchased the same pack.It took me some time ot discover the full lenght side pockets with the draw string at the top on either size.Refering to the full lenght pockets not the stretch pockets on the lower sides.You may have overlooked this in your review. Also the removable belt pockets worth a mention .

      Congrats on the purchase! It a great pack. Yeah....I did forget to mention those full length side pickets. I was focusing more on the changes made to the K3 from the K2 bag, but should have made mention of those pockets as well even though they didn't change. I'll be publishing another video here shortly going over each of accessories available and definitely will cover that hip belt pouch in that! Thanks is for watching!

    Will swaro 15x56 fit in the top lid? And will a swaro 95mm spotter fit in the front stretchy zip pocket or would you only be able to run it in the side pockets?

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @nooch2222 thanks for watching! I don't own a pair of 15x56 binos, bit I do think they'd fit in the lid fine. My 10x42s fit with a lot of room to spare.
      The Swaro spotter would fit in the long side pockets, but might be a tight fit in the front stretchy pocket. I've got an 85mm angled that fits easily in the side pockets, and also fits in the front stretchy pocket with a little room to spare. A 95mm might be close, but could work. Hope that helps!

    How does this frame stack up against the SG X Curve?

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! I haven't had the chance to test out the SG X Curve yet, but I've heard it's awesome as well. Certainly don't want to draw any comparison between the two without having tested both, but this K3 is awesome. Hoping to get the chance to test the SG soon though.
