  • Finks Finks Mill is one of the last remaining operational stone wheel grist mills in the Southeastern United States. It is located in Covington County, Alabama, on "Natural
    Bridge Creek"
The original mill was built by William Zorn and is believed to have been built in the late 1800s.
This old Zorn mill and dam were built just south of the current location and were reportedly destroyed around 1929 by a devastating 100-year flood.
Shortly after the Zorn Mill was destroyed, Wailon Henderson acquired the property and mill. He salvaged the Mill remains and used these in building the current mill along with a new dam in 1932.
The original Henderson Mill operated was built as a Gristmill with two water-powered 'stone mills'.
The water turbines also operated a Sawmill, which was added to the new Mill.
Reportedly, the mill additionally had a small DC power generator with a battery system installed that offered the mill lighting and reportedly offered power to a few nearby houses.
This system was removed when power lines arrived at this location at an unknown date.
Henderson Mill operated for twenty years and in the mid-1950s, the mill was run down and disrepair.
In 1956, William Lanier Fink acquired the mill and began repairs and resumed operations as Fink's Mill.
William Fink would later remove the sawmill and build additional housing for a diesel tractor with a "belt & pully" drive system, with two additional stone mills
The smaller water turbine once used was damaged by a flood, and the stone mill has been converted to electricity.
Currently, the mill has four stone mills.
    One operated by water.
One operated by an electric motor.
Two operated by an old diesel tractor.
Fink's Mill has been in continuous operation by the Fink family since 1956 and is currently owned by Quin and Dolly Fink and is operated by the Fink family with the help of friends of the family.
The mill is open on Saturdays from
    Labor Day through December.
    Hours of operation are 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Milling is for corn only and can be ground for corn mill, cornflour, or grits.
Milling is priced at $0.60 a pound and is cash only.
The Fink family also welcomes the public to stop by to see the mill in operation.
Fink's Mill is located off Highway 54, east of Florala, AL on Fink Mill Road.
