While I was in law enforcement, a lot of my homicide cases stemmed from people experiencing uncontrollable emotional outbursts whether due to deceit, anger, deep sadness, etc. You never know how a person is going to react especially in a state of heightened emotional distress. Before I got married, I had an ex who attempted to light herself on fire when I broke up with her at her place. I NEVER wanted to be put in a situation like that again so I started handling emotiinal conflicts from a distance or over the phone because people are unpredictable. She probably was the one taking care of him through all his battles so I bet he didn't expect her to be capable of something like this. RIP
I have been criticized for not wanting to face emotional situations face to face. I realize that I don’t like conflict due to some earlier experiences I went through. I wish people understood these situations more!

I completely understand handling it over the phone from both sides. I have not done anything that extreme, but I prefer someone text or email me and allow me to do so as well so I can process and respond appropriately. For instance, my mother will cut me off while I will try to explain to her how I feel and twist what I said to something different. With an email or text I can make sure that does not happen and I can get my feelings in check.
But if you break up over the phone who's going to put her out when she sets herself on fire?

I asked people who do this why, and they said it’s because people love drama. They like feeling like they have control/power over someone cuz it feeds their ego. It’s actually pretty sick. As for having a hard time moving on it’s cuz they’re either too attached, or they view the person their with as security, meaning, if they don’t have another partner lined up they feel like they will never find another partner so they cling on to their current partner, but if they do have another partner lined up they have no problem moving on. Basically, these people are insecure and just want to be able to say they have someone. My sister is like this. Every time a guy breaks up with her she begs them to take her back and threatens to kill herself if they don’t, but if she has another dude lined up, she moves on no problem. I’ve met lots of people like this and it’s truly degenerate.

I have empathy for the GF who nursed his azz back to health only for him to dump her the second he was doing better. It was added insult to injury that he dumped her with the other girlfriend right there in her face. It was painful and had wild thoughts thankfully I came out free in all aspects..praying for the wife and family

My ex called me months after I walked away from the relationship. I told my best friend if I would have picked up that call and heard anything other than sorry, I would have filled my car up with gas and took that 14 hour trip and blacked out (for the worst). Like you, I walked away and didn't look back because if I did, it would not have been pretty at all!!!! I am so thankful and grateful that I did not do anything I would have regretted later. I am almost 4 years single and happy! I can' only imagine how many women and men are in jail because their tempers took care of the betrayal.

I think the real wife was being played too, he was stringing her along. She said she had seen him, only talked on the phone and then goes into this covid survival tale she had been told he went through. Meanwhile this man had at least two side pieces, one of which he was living with. He was likely giving a cover story as to why they could not talk in person to his wife but in reality he was being a player.
Being as he brought the other woman with him when he tried to end the relationship with the other woman is the most narcissistic I have ever heard.
This will likely be viewed as a crime of passion and she will get a lighter sentence, as she should, lord only knows the head games he played on her.

I found out my husband was living a double life after he died from Covid. They released his stuff to me and I had to go through his phone to call all his friends and stuff and read all the messages and seen all the pictures. God has a way of bringing everything to light because I didn't suspect a thing. I didn't pay 1 hot cent to bury him either. He left me with a baby and had the nerve to be alleycatting around. This could have easily been me in this news story.

I in my 60 years have lost count of the lives destroyed for this same reason. While in the USAF I knew of a guy who came home on a three day weekend from TDY and killed his wife. He was coming home to surprise her and the police figured he caught her cheating and in the heat of the moment killed her as she slept. They zeroed in on him real fast because they had a large dog that wouldn't let anyone into the house. The thing that got me the most was that from all appearances they were a happy church going couple whom no one would ever see this coming.
