Sickening!!! To treat a veteran's senior spouse like that without asking about their situation is unspeakable!!! Where's the simple human kindness today??

This story really breaks my heart. I lost my mother to hyperthermia when she was 72. Our elderly needs to be protected. That hospital should never had that woman going to sit in a car in the heat. That’s dangerous at any age but even more for the elderly and young children. Rest In Peace to this sweet woman ❤️

This guy is wrong at the VA hospital.
The person at the door instead of turning her away should call their supervisor or management to ask for exception for her to at least wait in the lobby of the hospital so she won’t have to wait in the car.
No, excuse, she didn’t have to die.
    Sooo heartbreaking ❤️‍🩹!!!!

Mrs. Lear did not deserve to die like that. This should not have happened. More than 50 yrs she was by her husband's side only to be treated like a non-factor who was in the way.
While their actions may not have been outright malicious their attitudes were atrocious & indifferent. That's not how you treat the wife of U.S. Veteran and certainly not an elderly woman.
The VA needs to recognize & respect the roles wives play in not just their husband's careers but their after-care beyond active duty. Without their wives many would be far worse off so please VA administration & medical staff RESPECT the wives of your veterans.
I'm so tired of hearing about trifling deaths connected to inadequate, trifling & often indifferent maltreatment of our veterans at the hands of the VA hospital. Many of their policies do more harm than good to the veteran and by extension, their wives. My sincerest condolences to Mr. Lear on his loss. May God be his strength throughout.

Veterans veterans veterans what are really veterans? My father put in 40 years and he didn't need everybody's help and everybody whining that he's a veteran. Some of these veterans only went in for a day or two and they're still considered veterans. War veterans are one thing the rest are just people that are too damn lazy to get their lives together. Why would my mother be any more special than any other woman? How come I wasn't treated any better and I was a freaking military brat for 21 years and forced to go places with them

@@mrsjacksonUSMCWifebig freaking deal. I was a military brat for 21 years. My dad put in 40 years. The reason he went in the first place because he needed a job just like most people so what makes them more special I don't know the only ones that are more special are the ones who were in the wars like my grandfather and my brother and three of my uncles.

This spring, 2022, I went to the ER with my husband in AZ. I was told to wait in the car, because of the risk of covid. It was a hot day. Fortunately, I did not succumb to the conditions of that day. However, this practice was still going on at that time. Utterlly dispicable to treat the public in this way. She's so lovely. May she RIP.

What risk of covid in 2022? In Florida we were over this mess by August of 2020. I have never been told I can't go in a hospital with my boyfriend or vice versa. I've never been forced to take the stupid jab either. It must be the states that you live in that do this horrible thing. I live in Florida and they didn't put us through that.

Spouses support the soldier, sometimes throughout their entire career, but we don't get the respect or consideration for all we've ALSO sacrificed. I am so sorry for your loss. Her loss is not in vain, but unfortunately, it's through your loss some changes have come. I pray for your strength as you journey through losing your wife and life partner.
I too was turned away and many others during the pandemic and waited in the car in Texas heat. I will be more attentive to cars in VA parking lots from now on. I will make demands and draw attention to anything that can ve done differently while we wait. May you experience peace for this leg of your journey without her. 🙏🏽

This is so sad and could've easily been prevented had the new policy been implemented prior especially considering two major factors it was his elderly WIFE, and the outside temperature a waiting area should've been offered to her even if it meant waiting in their chapel or cafeteria period. I understand with Covid trying to be safe but, this policy change is definitely too late. My heart goes out to the husband and family for their loss.

Amen! I totally agree with you on that one absolutely that's the least they could've done was let her come inside and wait like you said although I've never been to Texas but I could almost imagine that's almost like having to sit in your car in Florida it gets pretty hot and humid there but probably worse in Texas being elderly and with already having health issues, I'm so sorry for your loss my condolences go out to your family and friends.

I'm so sorry this happened to your beloved wife. All this covid nonsense has cost a lot of people a lot of things including their lives. May God bless you and heal your aching heart. I love you and I'm so sorry

This is heartbreaking. I understand there are policies in place to protect the patients and staff but they weren't told this prior or else she wouldn't have been there. Also with the above 100 degree temperature outside they should've let her sit in the cafeteria or a waiting area. That heat on the west coast is brutal, I wouldn't sit in a car even with it running. It's just not safe. Praying for his peace. RIP to his lovely wife.🙏🙏🕊🕊

Both elderly with health issues so it would've made more sense for her not to go or should've made sure they were chaperoned. She had health issues and she was not able to move around easily. Everyone is responsible for themselves. Rules & Regulations in hospitals are put in place for a reason. This was a tragedy. Condolences to the family. 💔

Some elderly don't have family members to take them around. Program are very limit to the elderly. Plus this elderly couple in their home without any assistance. The hospital should have let her sit in the lobby with the cool air. No them doctor walk right pass her.

Why does it take something like this for "policy changes"? For the love of God WTH is wrong with those people? Make everyone who denied her entry sit in a hot car for a few hours so they can get an idea of what that poor woman suffered.

My brother had Parkinson’s in 2020. We weren’t able to see him for over a year. His voice was too weak to hear over the phone. We relied on updates from his hospital. When we were finally allowed back into the hospital to visit him…… My brother who was 6’8” was absolutely skin and bones. We walked in around breakfast time. There was a tray of food in front of him teasingly close. Because of the severity of his Parkinson’s he was too shaky to feed himself. He had a bottle of Ensure with a straw in it he was sipping from. My sister fed him the whole tray of food,he ate every bite!!! It took about 20 to 25 minutes to feed him. Sadly he never recovered. My brother was allowed to starve to death during Covid!!!!! Because of Covid restrictions ridiculous restrictions!!!!
I HOPE TO GOD AMERICANS NEVER ALLOW OUR GOVERNMENT TO OWN US LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN!!!!!

I didn't get to pay my last goodbye to my dad when he died in 2021 because of Covid! I know how this poor old man feels about losing his wife. Nobody should be forced to suffer that way!

Not malicious or reckless, but negligent. How the hell does a hospital let a person die in the parking lot? Suing won't bring her back, but it would send a message.
