  • Hi, TH-camrs
Here is a video on how I ship media items (particularly books) that is both fast and inexpensive. It makes sure the item arrives without damage. I buy my bubble mailers in bulk to save money.

Even though it’s four years late, I have to say thank you! I’m a book hoarder who’s finally trying to sell some books I no longer want/read. The idea of a book arriving damaged upsets me, so I’d hate for one to arrive damaged to someone else. Unfortunately, I wasn’t sure how to package them, but this video helps out so much! Thank you again!

Remember when Amazon cared about how they packaged books?
One of the better techniques I remember is they used a stiff piece of cardboard that was larger than the book, saran wrapped the book to that cardboard tile & then put that in a tile in a perfectly sized box. It was so tight of a friction hold, it wasn't going anywhere. I've used it a few times since when mailing books.
If I were making custom box like you, I would order custom decals for'em, informing the recipient it was a custom box made just for them. 😃
Thanks for a solid video showcasing a variety of techniques.

25+ year online seller - I have been using these methods for book shipping for many years. Fast, relatively efficient, inexpensive and it works. Only thing I do differently is I seal each book in a clear polybag just to give it protection from the elements and it helps fragile books stay firm and protected during shipping.
Good job doing this video, even though I'm 7 years late. LOL

Nice video! I also use the cardboard cut-out method when I ship out art books (soft back). I actually use 2 pieces of cardboard. I use extra bubble wrap that I have from packages that I've received, wrap the book up with it, then tape it to the cardboards (one for the front one for the back) to place it inside a bubble envelope. I really can't stand it when people don't take the care or time to package items when they ship it out to the buyers. I wish everyone would take the time to do it right!

I like your method even better, will use it now. I also can’t stand when people don’t secure their items. I put in my listings “will package securely” to show ahead of time my intention.

Yes, I "liked the movie"! : ) Brilliant use of the painters straight edge. Bravo!
Question, if you don't have a wide enough pouch or envelope, would you ever consider once your media is secure in cardboard/stretch film etc, to wrap in brown paper and then clear tape the entire surface? Do you see anything wrong with that technique? I have really large mechanic's manuals that are just too large for envelopes. But I want it to arrive attractive and finished. Any thoughts? Thanks for all the great tips!
