Ken Harrison is an artist that makes sculptures. One day he is involved in a car accident, and is paralyzed from his neck. All he can do is talk, and he wants to die. In hospital he make friends with some of the staff, and they support him when he goes to trial to be allowed to die.

A great film that almost no one today knows about. Dreyfuss was very good and in it as well as John Cassavettes, and a strong supporting cast.
Very depressing.. I do like his other films better
@@tonymaurice4157 One of my favorite movies. I don't find it at all depressing, in fact it is one of the most uplifting movies I've ever seen.

Suicide should NOT be seen under such a negative light and controversy. Everyone must be free to die whenever he or she wants.
Suicide is a coward's way out and only causes more harm than good.
@@alexscott730 That is not true. Death is inevitable, and death causes all the problems and pain any death method would, including suicide. But suicide allows for people to prepare, plan and make things right. I'm an advocate of responsible suicide that involves making plans, leaving finances in order and involving family and loved ones.

God, what torment. I survived cancer and I didn't suffer like this.
A very underrated and not well known film, but quite brilliant performances and a moving and profound script.

0:43- Richard Dreyfuss was apparently so heavy into drugs in the movie, that he doesn't even remember making it. But even with that being said, it's Richard Dreyfuss. So, he's still great in it...

2:00- ......It didn't do very well at the box office. I think parents were more interested in seeing On Golden Pond.
he was absolutely amazing, best i had seen of his acting, he surely pulled me into this character, even crying at times
Kinda crazy that Richard Dreyfuss has absolutely no recollection of making this film due to his cocaine use during production 😳

I have seen this film many time, The most shocking moment in a person life when they are paralyze to the neck down when you have only your head, when you thought become your worst enermy. Richard Drefuss play this role as John Cassavetes.
A little reminder to all coments, till you have experience it you can't judge. just over 20 yrs ago i lay down on the floor and without moving an inch for 4 hour to 4:30 long. the film is about the free will of your own self against the system.
Will you have the dignity and respect or force of those that goes against their wish.

I found it years ago on dvd.
Missed opportunity. Should have been remade starring Christopher Reeves.
Ohhhh... Guzarish.... is copy of this film.... Chotta Bollywood
