- In this video I show the difference of tinted headlights and none tinted headlights on a 2017 Lexus IS. Looks may not be all, yes I miss how it looked with the headlights tinted but I’m glad I got my visibility back. Something you must consider before tinting your headlights.

I just bought clear tint with the holographic effects. I hope it looks good and hides the scratches, but doesn’t make my headlights dim at night. Thanks for the comparison!

@@JhonnyTube After 2 attempts and watching 👀 your video and another one more time. I realized I wasn't heating the tint up enough and doing it wrong. 3rd attempt I feel was almost perfect and the 4th and last ended up being the best.

Car manufacturers are recalling cars to tint headlights because modern day headlights are to bright.

I ended up changing my halogens to LEDS after tinting the headlights. One thing that helps me is that i also have foglights on my hatchback, and they really help when it comes to the light output.
LEDs are a must!

In my country,most people used automotive smoke clear coat for headlights and taillights.We talking like full darksmoke coating.Suprisingly,it dosen't darkens the light output,and it can withstand till 3-5 years. Suitable for someone going for long-term looks
Must me some new tech if it gives the looks but doesn’t diminish the light output.
Smoking the lens always darkens the light output no matter what country you are in or the lights you use.
Perhaps what you actually meant was that people in your country smoke the inside of the headlamp (not the lens). When you smoke the inside of the lamp, you are able to smoke the non reflective portion of the lamp so that you can maintain the same light output while having a lamp that looks more dark.
But when you smoke a light by simply putting tint over the whole lens or over the chrome reflector inside the lamp, light output will decrease.

Yes i agree with you, with the current tech,we can only find the least decrease of light output rather than no decrease of light output.
Honestly while comparing to branded and budget headlight taillight tints .The smoke clearcoat's decrease of light output are too little to observe for raw human eye like almost to none.
And no, what i meant is they do it by properly prep and sand the uv coat of headlight lens then prep it for spraying the smoke clearcoat. Then they spray the clearcoat on wait for it to cure then buff it. The smoke clearcoat itself is uv resistance. The total cost for taillight and headlights clearcoating including labours (There's professional offering these services around my country) are 180MYR which is around 43USD. Which is bang for the buck in my opinion

This is true especially if you get dark smoke tint. It looks great on the car but driving at night or in the rain is terrible even with high beams. If your going to use dark smoke I’d recommend using knifeless tape during install and not cover projection area almost making headlight brows rather than tinting entire lens
Doing that defeats the whole purpose on tinting them in the first place..
I am agreeing with ur video and suggesting others tint only the housing areas of the headlight. headlights would still be tinted AND allow light to pass through without being dimmed..
I hate when pick up trucks use LED lights. When they're behind a shorter car at a red light, their lights are perfectly aligned with the back window of the car in front and is blinding that person.
I hate people with low cars who bitch out head lights in their mirror. Get a higher car if your tell me not to put light in my head lights

I alway tint my car headlights protect scratches and rockchips. Keep always new.

(never tint smoke or dark film). Block the brightness 🔆…

I have 15%all around, 20% headlight w/ 6000k blue LEDs & it's DEFINITELY NO PICNIC!! Even using the brights.
1. The cars around me illuminate the road better than my car & they're very helpful. Alone on a dark stretch of highway isn't ideal. Can really only see the ground directly in front of me 6-10ft. Did it 4the 1st time last night.
2. In the city the street lights ARE MY HEADLIGHTS. It's pretty close 2driving a car w/lights off.

Exactly how I felt with mines 😂 I ended removing them after sometime thinking I was going to just put a lighter tint but after seeing how much they lit up I decided to leave it as is.

from what i can see tinted headlights arent that bad... considering my skoda octavia 1 headlights illuminate even less not even counting i have osram night breakers and they arent that oxidized
If you get the lightest smoke color it should be fine . And if you get plug and play led bulbs works better than halogen anyways . Led bulbs have done along way and dont have this issues they had with cooling like 5 years ago . They even have one that rotate and adjust I'd you have projector lens headlamps
Car comes with factory LEDS and they are strong, just the tint dimmed it a lot.

Honestly I have the SMOKED precut Laminex film on my car....and I'm like you. I love the look in the day light. But in the night time I can't see shit. I have only have halogen bulbs, but i am removing it...

Actually my taillights are pretty good, the whole car has LEDs that are pretty bright on both ends. I wouldn’t recommend tinting any exterior lights if the car has halogen bulbs.

Put a 70% tint on. Plenty of light output but gives it a darker look appearance wise. Great video!
Will give it a try. That Lexus just had plenty of chrome pieces inside that stood out a lot with lighter tint.
I'm going to vinyl my instrument cluster on my gtr1400 to dim the display and improve that ever sensitive night vision.

Question, even if you tint your headlights at 15% it’ll still make your lights less bright? What would you recommend, I want to tint my headlights and tail lights but I do not want them too dark, just around 10% to 15% so I can still se the road at night time. 😅 great video 👍.

So, after all ,nobody knows what is the exact % of light transmission in that tint ??? Dark Smoke means nothing to me. I don't think there will be problems with tint of about 50% or higher, from quality material for the headlights.Tail lights not lower than 35% also.

Facts ppl putting 15 % or less that’s why they can’t see at night need to go with a higher tint percent like 35 or higher

I want to do abit of tint spary on my front headlights but not black them or make the light out put very low, maybe 1 to 2 quotes of spray tint is that good enough just to give that light smoke affect nothing crazy.
Should be, I would suggest just finding a lighter tint in case you don’t like it you can simply remove it. Actually spraying it will result in being a permanent look and if you don’t like it you’ll have to buy the lights and they aren’t cheap.

I have a Renault, so i want it to look like the old French cars.

Yeah I know, during the rain it sucked soo much! Couldn’t see very well. That’s why I removed the tint after a couple of years, I do miss the look tho, because it changed the cars appearance significantly, specially with the blacked out grill trim.

I’d recommend go lower, mine made a huge difference. Car looked mean tho, but I couldn’t see much at night, just got used to it. Rainy days it was horrible tho.

During the years I had it on was never an issue, I did get pulled over but the cop didn’t even mention the head or taillights
It depends what state you are in. But cops can be strict on you
I can personally guaranteed you that in the following states I never had an issue: Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Florida. Not sure if you’re from any of those lmao most likely not

what you tink about light smoke tint ?
My most sincere opinion with any lighter tint than the one I had on my car is don’t do it. Simply because the chrome ring around the light is so shiny and also the inside chrome design is shiny that it stands out a lot. Even with the dark smoke you can still kinda see it. If you really want the blacked out look, my suggestion would be opening up the headlights and painting the chrome. Something I will do once I figure out the best way to do it and not ruin the headlight housing lol (all this is based on MY car. There’s plenty other cars out there that this might not be the case for)

They’re factory LEDs and they’re bright without the tint. Can’t expect for light to come out normally if you tint it… be smart people.
