Thanks Icy! I use heavy tackle most of the time when I shiner fish because of the thick weeds in our lakes and rivers. If I fished with lesser gear I would lose more big bass to the grass! Great video CC. Awesome footage & really nice bass!!! I didn't realize you had posted this video until now. "Better late than never". Fished the Stick Marsh Marsh 22nd, using wild shiners and lures. Caught a lot of bass between 4 and 6 lbs, with only a few weighing less. Biggest bass of the day weighed 8.5. Gotta love our trophy bass fishing here in the Sunshine state. Enjoyed the video. Hey CC I’ve fished the Rodman more than a few times and don’t remember ever seeing that much open water. The stump field is about the widest point on Rodman and I’m not seeing the stump field. I understand keeping your spots secret though.
Looks like he went south of the stump fields through the canal towards orange springs ramp theres alot of water until you hit the river. First spot he was i have caugjt plenty of fish there and have named it 10# hole
Im still on fire here except when I fished the other day in that heavy rain and cold front... Almost every time out someone in our group is boating a double digit

Actually I buy my bait from a commercial shiner fisherman! But if you have the time you can bait them up using hog feed and throwing a cast net. You can also chum them up using white bread and catch them with a cane pole and a small hook!

I used to fish around the Kenwood Landing at night with a Arbogast Muskie Jitterbug back in the early 80's. These were the old wood carved 6" long with 1" eye screws - special order. It sounded like some one tossing bricks into the water when the bass would strike it. Maybe summer time night fishing video......give it a try. I use 25 lb. Trilene Big Game mono and 65 lb. Power pro braid! Kahle hooks are good, but I also use 5/0 Eagle Claw weedless hooks for trolling grass lines and free lining in brush and Hydrilla points! I don't use a Floro leader with mono or braid!
It's funny you mentioned the Muskie Jitterbug. My largest artificial caught bass came on this lure back in 81! As for night fishing videos I've tried doing a few but wasn't happy with how they turned out! As you well know this technique can be deadly on Rodman at night! Haven't fished this way in a long time but I bet it still works! Tight lines Later Gator and good fishing!

Sorry, have to investigate what the heck is going thru ya'll heads, I know I'm a river rat person with lots of rationality and traveling all Thru-out (or almost all Thru-out FL)-- seriously big nice rivers are few and far between (my fav) and most are getting polluted and in decline. Lakes aren't, are safe. Please contact state reps, governor, and state Senate to free the River. Thanks, and yes I'm a red blooded native Floridian :)
