    The far-away low poly mode in this mod honestly just tells me that Mojang COULD redo the rendering system to make higher render distances feasible on lower-end computers, they just don't.

    • @lylied8621
      @lylied8621 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      In Bedrock they actually have some simple techniques already making higher render distances. for example trees get simplier. Its just, that the game looks less good and less "minecrafty" as well. I think its just good how it is. For example I am able to play minecraft on my old 10 yo laptop as well. Its only 2-4 render distance because I won't have my 30-40 fps with more but It's definitely playable.

    • @Squilly4
      @Squilly4 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      well consider that it's not just the rendering of the terrain, but loading chunks also means processing entities, redstone, and ticking in those chunks in general.

    The interesting thing is once you reach a certain height, the ground below looks like the void static in the End "sky." What if the End isn't an endless void filled with floating islands, but rather the center of the whole dimension and the sky is actually the ground from tens of thousands of blocks away?

    • @adakalyoncu1913
      @adakalyoncu1913 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      But then, sun and moon that is supposedly circulating around the overworld would be visible from end too considering that you can see the world from the sky. Also there would be no nighttime in minecraft if sun and moon was inside a spherical shaped world that has inner side of it habitable.
      Having said that, if your theory was in the case, it could actually describe both why under of the bedrock looks like space and why we take damage when we fall into the void.

    • @DoodleSamurai
      @DoodleSamurai 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@adakalyoncu1913 Well and I'm not necessarily assuming the End and the Overworld take place in the same dimension. Rather, the concept that drives them is similar.
      I imagined the End as taking place inside a gigantic hollow sphere where the static sky is the ground from far away, and we as players stand at the center of the dimension. If we were to travel far enough we might reach the ground (like how in older versions, the Overworld became the Farlands), but of course that's impossible with how Minecraft works. Might be fun with some kind of mod, though

    • @adakalyoncu1913
      @adakalyoncu1913 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@DoodleSamurai yeah it could be a nice thing both to play with a mod or if they somehow managed to add it
      But if we had a spherical planet or some kind of hollow sphere object in the space that we are supposedly standing on an object thats balanced on it's gravititional pull, if we create any kind of inertia in the end dimension, they have the dragon and endermans which is more than enough, whole dimension would start falling towards the ground.. I mean it would probably take days to reach there but the fall would still have effects such as the objects in the end not feeling gravity (similar to how you feel like your stomach is floating when you are going down on a roller coaster drop) and also the friction due to air would create storms in case if we have air in that spherical object. We could neglect lack of gravity if we had air inside the planet since we would eventually reach terminal velocity and stop accelerating. But then we would have constant violent storms in the end. It would be a case that we would need to choose between having storms or having lack of gravity. If we did not have air, there would be no storms but also no gravity. If we had air, there would be gravity but also storms.
      If we imagine blocks fixed to it's place in the sky, similar to how you can build in the air in overworld and other dimensions without blocks falling, then since the player and entities are not fixed to anything, they would be ejected off from end dimension and start falling towards the mass of the ground as the gravity would pull them towards it.
      Since this is minecraft though, I think we could imagine a hypothetical ground that has no mass but has volume and gravity towards it would be achieved via centripetal acceleration as the planet rotates similar to how earth and other planets rotate in the space. Which would still make the end have an amount of gravity thats small enough to be negliciable but the dimension could have air inside it without causing storms and also would never reach the ground. Also since the ground is moving at a massive velocity and end is pretty much stationary, we would have storms created in between the ground and the end dimension. Which happens to be a good way to describe why players take damage when they fall into the void as they get ripped around with air molecules moving at massive speeds and they experience a lot of extreme acceleration and G forces that would kill them. They would probably burn due to extreme heat created on the process though so they could add fire animation and louder elytra whooshing sounds as the player dies in the void to make it more realistic. One think they would also want to do is giving players infinite slow fall+jump boost in the end and add some kind of wind ambient sound in the end to implement this theory into the game. Would they waste time doing it? No one knows.

      Depends on what you mean by "accurately sized", as Minecraft's world is nearly double the size of Neptune by surface area. If the continents were to be geographically accurate, one could open up a game in survival and never see water. They could walk in one direction and take a year to reach an ocean. And all the water? Real talk, trying to squeeze out as much FPS as possible out at higher render distances should be one of Mojang's top priorities right now. It's so sad that the majority of Java players (like myself) just don't have that beefy of computers and are forced to play on low render distances. Especially with 1.18, average performance has gone downhill (only people with actually good computers aren't having problems). Even for higher-end computers, higher render distance can get fairly risque. We need LODs (decreased *Level Of Detail* as blocks are farther), like what this mod adds, though of course, heavily more polished. If a glitchy, semi-broken mod coded by one person can make at least decent LODs, the Mojang team can definitely add them.

    Interesting concept! I cruised a little bit through the github, and saw something about voxel map baking. Did you have to do a pre-initialization for the 2D map before toggling it in the setting? What I would think is that you would need to render and bake the 2D map with applied height map, and then just display that information. That would reduce performance hogging a lot.

      This is a spam message to inform you that this video idea and the method used to render the entire world was STOLEN from a much smaller youtuber by the name of "4P5", with only 2k subscribers, and his video "30,000,000 Block Render Distance in Minecraft?!" with no credit given to him. At the time of writing this comment, his video was uploaded 5 months ago and only has 400k views, compared to Alexa Real's video that was uploaded 3 months ago and has 2 million views. If you're reading this I urge you to watch 4P5's video and subscribe to him, as his video is much higher quality, with much more effort put into it and it doesn't have generic music.

    I like how the hills and mountains over there are looking like weird triangular and not really blocky not smooth textures on them. It reminds me of how you know buildings in Fortnite look like if you are very far away from them that it loads in a model that is supposed to replace the building since you are out of its render distance and how it can’t render the original model in that distance so it’s replaced with a low quality shapey cartoony version. Same goes for when you spam tap the screen on Google Earth.
