Lol how sad is it (not just for the state of movies, but society) that we all get excited to see a dude (who acts like an actual man) and a chick (who is actually objectively hot) having good chemistry and an actual adult relationship?
I liked this one. There was a solid plot, character development, and the DEI cast could all act. The dirty cop was at least smart- but I agree with the laziness around his character being all the buzzwords (racist, misogynist, homophobe) libs throw around to justify their hate. There's a bottomless pit of trash movies out there and this felt refreshingly good
This one's a mixed bag for me. I thought it spent too much time with Gary under cover. Some of those disguises were WAY over the top. Straight up Powell was doing an impression of Tilda Swinton with one. It picked up when the husband's murder occurred. That one scene with the cell phone outmaneuver but saying what cops want to hear was the best fucking scene in the movie-agreed. With that ending-I felt similar to you guys-it left me feeling conflicted, icky. I just didn't like the moral flippancy of how it played out. Glen Powell's got some good creative muscles he's showing, even as a writer. I sense he'll direct a film in the future.
I had never even heard of this. I like Glenn Powell but I think he'd make a better Johnny Cage. If you wanna see a comedy about a hitman just watch Barry.
This is why you can't trust Netflix policing their own numbers. This movie was the number 1 movie in the world on Netflix for like a week, lol. Could totally see Powell as Cage in an MK film. He'd be perfect.
What I want to know is... what happened to his cats?! They made a point of showing him as a beta who has cats (beta and cats go hand-in-hand? I disagree but whatever) then he becomes Ron the alpha and he has two dumb looking dogs in his kitchen instead 😢
When first seeing this I thought it was a movie with the morally corrupted people got to win because that's life sometimes. The ending speech and killing the Jasper and ex husband was about Him justifying the actions Because it goes back to that saying "nobody looks in the mirror and thinks they're truly a bad person." But that was my take.
I remember going into it for an excuse to watch movie with my friend, for more assassin action, for the actor, and for some people saying it’s good😂(yeah that one’s on me). I forgot I watched this until I went to your channel and saw this.
Update: I liked it, thought it would have been more comedic but it was still ok. Although, all the different gay flags outside of the pub he went to with the girl was ridiculous, Hollywood got to stop that weird shit
@@hardcutreviews Oh loved you in that, but Wesley stole the show in Demolition Man. I can’t help you look a splash like Denis Leary to me. Not a dis. 😂
That’s fair, he was not a great dude. But that didn’t come until the end of the film and wasn’t why they were ok with letting him die. They very neatly listed off all the reasons why he was a bad guy that we never see. And our main characters are still better than him despite the fact that they have also been scummy. They needed to give him all of those additional bad qualities to make sure the audience was 100% on the side of the main characters.
And I understood all of your points concerning the character. I looked at it as this is from Gary’s perspective and even when we’re wrong in a situation we try to justify our bad decision. That’s how I looked at that portion of the film.
Cuz of woke culture. Now i can not look at a movie and not find woke stuff. Even if it's so small. Now all i do is look for it. It's like eating a meal. You have a fly on it, now all you do is look for the fly. Movies suk now

“Linkladder” pronunciation had me giggling lol 😅 Great review (as always).

Cats are low-key the most masculine animals one can own.

This was a fun movie, love Glen Powell

Agreed
Haven't watched the movie yet but looks fun, will have to save to watch later to see how or if our opinions differ!

Another first class review. I’m kind of curious about watching this.
Matt, I loved you in Judgement Night and The Ref.
What about Demolition Man? It's my best work.
@@hardcutreviews Oh loved you in that, but Wesley stole the show in Demolition Man. I can’t help you look a splash like Denis Leary to me. Not a dis. 😂
Keep at it
Put Glen Powell in anything and I’ll watch it. I don’t care. 🤷🏻♀️
Btw, sorry for all the comments, trying to help the channel and I have no life. 😂
Appreciate it, dude! No such thing as too many comments.
Wait… how have you never seen “Dazed and Confused”??? Thats crazy!
Right? It's just one of those that has always eluded me.
Jasper did try to blackmail them. That was scummy. He’s a cop and he betrayed his ethics.

Yeah, Gary definitely tries to justify his bad decision away by verbally painting Jasper out to be the worst guy that ever lived.
@@hardcutreviews indeed he did.
Very convenient for our protagonist.
It's the whole Jedi principle, good and evil are just certain points of view. These weirdos in Hollywood actually think that and it's bullshit.
