Plenty more of September and one more coffee from a different Canadian roaster coming up in the future. Canada is in its best era of coffee right now so we're happy to explore it. Cheers ☕️
After watching, I agree with most of what you say about it. I got a lot more peach I think than you brewing it mostly full immersion which I found brought a lot more peach and sweetness
They aren't, actually. Have had the conversation with Kyle about the bags and they use these bags when they run out of the white ones. The espresso roasts are the ones specially stated as such
Much appreciated. Was in the middle of coming up with our list of coffee roaster for our European tierlsit when we got the notification for your comment haha. Cheers ☕️
Ohhh, excellent question. You know, despite the fact that the CC Aga had an off day in the final, it left such a positive first impression the first time around that we'd be willing to lean a bit towards that one based off the way both were approached. September has admitted that they weren't against their normal profile with this one and that was probably the tipping point for us
@@CoffeeReviews Yeah, I was wondering about that final round, it was quite interesting that you almost couldn't recognize it. Also interesting to note that it sounds like both CC and September have had a bit of trouble with this coffee. At least some batches of the CC roast had a bit too much "roast" as well. I'm wondering if the green is particularly finnicky on this one..
The one we had in the sample wasn't particularly roasty while the September one was. Would certainly lead to the idea that it was a very tricky coffee for all involved. Even Kaffebox admitted that the coffee changed a bit for them throughout. Odd one for sure
Should’ve mentioned that BANA’s standards of a coffee being “too developed” is very sensitive for a majority of folks. For reference this is a group of folks that often consider Sey too dark. Didn’t try September’s roast but I absolutely loved H&S’s roast of Habtamu.
It is great context for anyone reading the comments to know that there is a different standard for lighter coffees within that community, but we could also see why maybe they felt that way on this one. Think part of that comes wirh the high expectations September set for themselves. Appreciate the feedback as always Allen, cheers ☕️
It's great when people get contentious over one roasters roast of one lot of beans. "It's 5 stars!" "You're an idiot, it's 4.4 stars on day 27 and then falls off a cliff " "You're an idiot times infinity!"
Never saw the debate firsthand, so it's difficult to speak on it, but we review plenty of coffees we don't like and often hope the feedback we provide is fair and constructive. At the end of the day, it is still subjective and the business should be able to present their coffee in whichever way they choose.
When you reference "discussions" about a coffee, are those conversations between you and other coffee review people? Other coffee reviewers posts about a coffee? Discussion on a forum?
Will happily be very transparent about this. The forum we referenced was BANA, which is a relatively popular discord channel. We're not involved in BANA, but we regularly meet with people who are. I was offering a sample of this coffee to someone, and they went on to tell me about the discussion that happened in that discord about this coffee. It sounded like it was a bit contentious as a lot of people had some strong opinions on the way this coffee turned out. This is all secondhand info, so we can't verify it, but felt it was worth addressing in the review.
My experience here was largely the same as yours. I tagged it on to another order because it looked like my style. My first couple cups were enjoyable. They were middle of the road. At the time, i had a number of open bags that were REALLY good, so i didn't brew much of this one. I think i froze a few doses, and the rest of the bag sat until it was stale.
In a lot of ways, it was so reminiscent of the Abel Salinas we'd had from them last year in that regard. It feels like maybe going a little more on these coffees pays off in the short term but can fall off shortly after. Either way, very nice at its best. Appreciate the feedback as always Nathan, cheers ☕️
3,000 subscribers! Congratulations!
Thank you! Taking it in, already thinking on the tierlist, but super grateful as always. Cheers ☕️
Thanks for doing Canadian Roasters I'm excited for the upcoming reviews, I've been drinking a lot from rogue wave lately.

My favourite roaster in the world right now.
Have yet to have a miss from them.
Import them to Australia every month.
They're doing great work 💯
I loved this coffee! Excited to see what you think!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it, hope you enjoy the review too. Cheers ☕️

Can definitely see how an immersion brewer would have helped this one with intensity. Great peachiness nonetheless
Isn’t those black coloured bags listed as an espresso focused roast? Maybe that’s why is more medium than the standard offer.

Oh good to know🙏🏼👌🏼
Congrats on the 3k btw 🎉🎉

How do you compare this take on this green from September to Coffee Collective's Aga?

Hello, is there any link where i can see this "BANA" discord channel? would love to see others opinions on different coffees

@CoffeeReviews oh okay, cool! I wasn't really asking about it in terms of transparency, more just cool to hear about coffee discussions like this
