    Love the BA vids, keep the maintenance up and she will outlive you bro. The best engine ever built, alongside of the 265 chrysler. Both built and designed in aussie, unfortunately australians never recognise good engineering, they are fixated on v6 shit and imported boxed LS engines. The barra engine will become legend in this country mate

    • @tangles01

      Yeah the Fg Turbo bara is a genuinely world class engine, this old NA donkey though, not o great, but stock, good for 600,000kms.

      tangles01 I notice that the taxi that the big guy drags, has a gas engine block, because of the heavy rods to go with the turbo on it

    • @tangles01
      @tangles01  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@greyhairedphantom4038 I have hears about the lpg getting a bigger rod, because it has much higher compression, I think it's probably just the higher comp which will give more torque that they are really after.

      Aussie Guy yeah. Common mistake.

    • @Aidan.17
      @Aidan.17 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't have to in fact if you speak to an engine rebuilder/engineer/engine oil scientist they will tell you not to. That hole in the middle goes straight to your bearings so if you accidentally buy bad oil (highly unlikely) soon as you crank the engine that oil goes into your bearings not your sump through pickup and your oil filter before hitting bearings. Some engines TDV6 e.g. its physically impossible due to engine having a oil filter elements that sit with a housing upside. Engines are fine for the first 2-4 seconds with residual oil whilst pressure builds up.

    • @tangles01
      @tangles01  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah it runs there, but if the filter is empty it will be 6 or 7 seconds without oi (depending on size and location)l, it's not a big issue, but it's an easy step to help prevent startup wear, no cost additional step. You'd never assemble an engine with residual oil only for 1st start, you'd always use an assembly lube. every bit helps.

    G’day Tangles01 , mate I want to do the first oil change on a 2004 XR6 Barra engine since I bought it a few months ago , the engine has 190k on it , it’s in A1 condition. I was looking at Penrith and Nulon websites became both these companies make top quality oils and they are Australian companies so I want to support Aussie manufacturer and Aussie jobs . Nulon recommends a 10w30 or 10w40 grade oil for my model Falcon , so I was going to buy some 10w40 Full synthetic oil , but then I watched your video and you recommended the 5w40 grade oil. With 190k on the engine wouldn’t I be better off get the 10w40 grade oil ? Keep em videos coming Tangles01 . Cheers

    • @tangles01
      @tangles01  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will depend on the wear levels, the 5w is really about your climate, because it's the oils cold weight, So if you see some 0 degree mornings in winter the 5w might be the better option for winter and the 10 in the summer. It doesn't get that cold in Brisbane so I just run the 10. I would definitely run the 40 though either way at 190k.

    Hi thanks for the great video. In regards to jacking the car up, which end do you need to jack up, front or back? Could you jack it up in the centre with car stands all round to the same effect if you were doing other stuff?

    • @tangles01
      @tangles01  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you doing the oil, you'd jack up the front for access, but key is let it drain on a flat and flat for re filling. if you're putting all 4 corners on stands you'll want flat ground to start with. I would jack up the front 1st put the stands in then lift the back... carefully.
