tangles01 yeah I hit up my mechanic the other day. He's got the gear to give them a clean and test. He was wondering why I wanted them done. I said it's still got the factory injectors in it and being 12 year old at 160,000km. I thought it was time. The wheel bearing idea sounds good. I get a slight shudder front right every now and then. 👍
Looking into the shake, seems there is also a caliper shudder that's fairly common as well, makes more sense with the intermittent shudders I think. I'll have a good look before wasting my time and money on it. but whatever the issue and the fix, I'll film it.
I managed to do it today. Never done it before, and the mechanic shop (Kmart Tyre & Auto) said it would cost me $110😵 Screw that! Got the Ryco filter for $18 at Supercheap Auto (30% off sale on Boxing Day - normally $26). I was a bit worried because this job looked a tad finicky on the vid, but I managed to get it done. My one was leaking after repressurizing it (relay back in - ignition on but car not started). I had to get back under and redo it. Saved $90 compared to the mechanic😂
That's why I made these, simple jobs everyone can do with simple common tools, obviously if you're right into engines you could also see my rebuilding my RB25det race engine, but that's a tad more complex lol.
@@tangles01 thanks bro. FYI I haven't had a car since 1999. I knew nothing mechanically about cars at all. Just got my 2005 Ford Territory a few weeks ago. After draining the original coolant I had to do three flushes, last one came out crystal clear, the others were still dirty, then in with the Nulon coolant😀 I bought 10L of Penrite HPR - 5 for $88 on special (Supercheap Auto) normally $126, but I noticed the Gulf Western oil $47 for 10L (normally $68) so I got a refund on the Penrite & bought the Gulf Western (semi-synthetic), it has the right specs though. They reckon it performs better than some of the full synthetics, and Gulf Western is the only 100% Australian owned oil company. The Ford Territory handbook states API SJ/CF (and it also says "not SJ or CF alone") and SAE 10W-30 and ILSAC GF2 and not to use non-detergent oil. The Gulf Western is 10W-30, it has SN/CF ('SN' suceeds SJ and is backwards compatible) and ILSAC GF5 (GF5 suceeds GF2/3/4 and is backwards compatible) and has zinc etc and cleaning detergents, perfect fit for the Barra! If you wish to save a few bucks give the Gulf Western a try and see how it goes👍
Penrite is a 100% Australian owned company. I personally wouldn't use GW oils. For the lower priced oils than Penrite, Nulon, Shell, Castrol are all an option. I won't be using anything but Penrite for the foreseeable future though. Just a good quality full synthetic oil will do the job plenty good enough.
I am glad that you are looking into what is needed and why though instead of just trusting opinions on the internet, mine included. That's how you learn.
Try it on an AU with a rusted on thread into the fuel filter. No open ended spanner could crack the nut and even with a 19mm on the filter, you still end up kinking the line due to force. Sadly a lot of them and earlier E series need fuel line replacements. Have seen on the odd occasion on BA/BF/FG too.
I've never kinked a hard line, I've done some very rusty lines, the worst culprit is usually brakes, I've rounded them off plenty, but then had to resort to vice grips, still no kinks though.

Well I'd check those lines 1st either side of the filter. forward to the engine bay (if its leaking there it will run down the line to the lowest point). Follow the line back to the tank the same. If you don't find a leak, you might need to try and access the tank, maybe the top hat seal has perished, which could have a fume smell coming form the back inside the car. Basically best to inspect it to see, any fuel under the car can have the smell source travel. Good luck with it, and better fix it sooner than later fuel leaks can and up a bit nasty if left.
Good Aussie humour too! Thought about doing the transmission myself too but have decided against it. I used to yank out the bottom radiator hose for coolant change but your way looks so much better.

You want to try again in English?
tangles01 you don't know what petrol is or seeing a fuel filter leak after installation is that to hard to understand petty is short for petrol
Ahhh makes sense, I was thinking you miss spelled pity

Always good.
Those 14mm nuts are bastards when there on super tight, l rounded my old man's falcon with the right 14mm fuel line spanners.
Bugger, vice grips are the spanner now
A mechanic charged me $100 to replace a $20 filter on my ford falcon, did they rip me off ?
Well, not really, they are there to make money. It's not just the part and the guys time, it's the rent on the building, payroll taxes etc...

Good work. Ahhhhhh Fuck!
What's the ahhh fuck for, or is it just your thing?
Thought it would be as easy as this, 10minute job still going on, like wtf how does it strip this bad I’m even using a bloody spanner that’s for that job
Every 10 min job is 1 fuck up from a 3 week ordeal.
How did you end up going mate. I’m in the same boat. Some fucker has rounded the nut and now it’s impossible 🤣
The ads on the video hopefully paid for your filter ;)
