Apartment Hunting in NYC | Touring 10 apartments in Manhattan so you don't have to

Welcome to round 2 of my NYC apartment hunting!! This year we only looked at places in Manhattan and did these tours during late July. Being familiar with this process already was definitely helpful, but the hunt and application process was still stressful nonetheless. All of these tour videos were taken with 0.5x zoom, and good luck with your hunt if you're touring for apartments in NYC too!

I’d almost rather spend the higher amount to get a true 2 bedroom in another area- I mean, since you technically have to pay to put up the wall and tentatively pay to take it down- couldn’t you increase your budget slightly to get a true 2 bedroom? Or are there really none in your budget in the areas you looked at? I’m from CA, so I have no clue! :-)

We were pretty stuck on our area due to factors of convenience as I had mentioned at the beginning of the video, and a true 2 bedroom wouldve meant a $1k+ increase in monthly rent as opposed to a flat $1k ish for the wall, so it made much more sense for us to go with what we did!

Yep I did know her already! I would suggest Facebook- I'm sure there are Facebook groups dedicated to finding roommates in NY

if you don't mind me asking, how are you able to look at $5400 apartments? Does it follow the 40X rule? I'm just surprised because I thought you graduated recently. I can't seem to find a good apartment in my budget because of the 40X rule😪😪

Hi! That was definitely a big factor as to why we didn't end up applying to those above budget apartments- most in the video just happened to also be available in the same building as the original unit that we scheduled the tour for, so we figured why not take a look at it when we got offered to. As for the 40x rule, I was apartment searching with a roommate so it applied to both of us combined!
