Small courtroom, having to sleep outside for a seat, no video or audio streaming, no devices to assist note taking … and now this judge is telling witnesses not to bother with the microphone? Ridiculous. I understand when pretrial hearings are closed, and I understand protecting the privacy of juries, but this is intolerable for a high-profile trial. Taxpayers keep the courts in business. We should be making a much bigger stink about this.

He is receiving a public trial. Hence, the queues of public and press lining up each day to attend court proceedings. Livestreaming and broadcasting has been prohibited (which is standard in the Hoosier state, although Judges have more discretion by the supreme Court) and after seeing youtubers share Gannon Stauch crime scene and autopsy photos behind a paywall I think it helps protect the victims, the families, the accused and keeps the integrity of the proceedings.

Same here. I felt relief when he was arrested because I want justice for Abby and Libby. As I’ve been following this trial, I’ve become highly doubtful they will have justice. I’m not seeing compelling evidence against RA. Even worse, I’m seeing gross mistreatment and human rights violations. Unless they present some mind blowing evidence, I don’t see how he could be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
If he did it, law enforcement and the prosecution blew it. I’ve come away feeling sympathetic towards RA and unable to believe his multiple confessions (including killing his non-existent grandchildren).

IMO I think the prosecution's case is very weak. The shenanigans with the prosecution and judge over the years makes their case seem extremely baised. I think this guy is being rail roaded and it is infuriating. I believe Richard Allen had a psychotic break due to the stress of being incarcerated. I hope they have a psychiatrist for the defense coming. I wish they could also call the FBI to the stand to discuss why the Delphi investigators asked them to leave!!! Thanks for your hard work!! I’m curious, do you have a viable theory? Not sure RA did it, but so many proclaim his innocence and then go on to proclaim some other person guilty. When you ask why they think their chosen person is guilty, they give evidence that is even more far fetched and delusional than the evidence people are complaining about with RA. It’s difficult to take conspiracy theorists seriously, but if someone has a rational, viable theory…I’m all ears.
And to be clear, I’m not saying we should say RA did it just because there are no other viable theories, but it just cracks me up that people will talk down on the evidence against RA and then go on to make the most far fetched claims ever while trying to pin it on some other person. I can’t buy what a person is selling when they do that…

If they are claiming that all of his other outrageous acts are just a means to get attention by a totally sane man, why do his confessions suddenly stop falling under that classification? I’ve worked in numerous mental health and elder care facilities. Both have patients in various states of detachment from reality. Regardless of their mental condition, the living conditions associated with mental conditions are often similar to a prisoner in solitary confinement or the “suicide watch” that they are using to justify what is clearly a workaround to place an innocent(until proven guilty) person in solitary confinement. The outbursts of outrageous behaviors described by the “watchers” are ABSOLUTELY UNIVERSAL to people in this kind of pseudo-solitary confinement. Humans are social animals. Because none of us have ever experienced long-term isolation, we cannot even begin to understand the devastating impact that it has on a person. It is torture that you cannot even imagine. The desperation for any sort of human contact, regardless of whether it is positive or negative, becomes all-consuming. You will do or say ANYTHING to have contact with another human. It sounds absolutely clear to me that the ONLY thing that would elicit a response from the potential human contact that was placed, intentionally and tantalizingly, just outside the door, was to announce his guilt. He tried absolutely everything else he could to force them to interact with him, before escalating to the logical absolute extreme that he hoped would get a response. When it worked, it became his go-to option to get the human contact that he needed in order to survive his torture. I’ve watched this form of escalating innapropriate behaviors occur LITERALLY HUNDREDS of times. Dozens of them confessed to murders, rapes, and acts of war. They claimed to have had all of these things done to them. Playing with their waste is extremely common. When they return to normal life, they don’t remember any of the time they spent in solitary confinement. They cannot justify or explain their behaviors because, as I said before, their brain is in SURVIVAL MODE. Their brain is DYING. It’s very similar to drowning. A drowning victim will drown their own family members in their desperation to use them as a flotation device to get just one breath of air. A starving person will eat their own child’s corpse and drink their own urine to survive. But the best comparison I can offer is a person in opiate withdrawal. If we’ve learned anything from the absolute epidemic of opiate addiction that has ravaged our country, it’s that drug dependency is not due to a moral failing or mental weakness. It will take ANY PERSON and turn them into a screaming and writhing ball of unimaginable torment. Their desperation for relief overcomes all dignity, disregards all loyalty, and overpowers all morality. When they steam from family, lie to friends, and sell their most prized possessions until they completely destroy everything they’ve ever had, they don’t do it from a position of any sort of malice or evil. They are being tortured in ways we cannot even begin to imagine. They aren’t looking to have a good time. They only want the torture to stop for a little while. Solitary confinement is EXACTLY THE SAME. They will do ANYTHING to make the agony of loneliness. It’s impossible to understand either of these experiences. But you need to understand that either one leaves the victim totally detached from what we call “life”. Either one guarantees that the victim will do anything you want them too, if only you will give them the relief they so desperately need. And either one will absolutely lead to the victim killing themselves if all means to find that relief are exhausted. With no other options, they will simply stop eating or drinking until they just wither and die. That is how totally robbed of the spark to survive they are. If you think that it wouldn’t make you confess to murdering two children, YOU ARE WRONG. And if they are claiming that all of his other outrageous acts are just a means to get attention by a totally sane man, why do his confessions suddenly stop falling under that classification?

It's definitely possible his poor man is being railroaded. Even if found not guilty, he and his wife are traumatized for the rest of their lives. Their position in their community will never be the same. What a travesty. The cop that's interviewing Allan is doing his best to brow beat him into a false confession. It's extra low to use this man's mental health issues against him as leverage. No wonder the judge is trying to pressure the attendees into giving up on reporting details of the trial.

I'm in the UK and totally mortified by how he has been treated regardless of guilt. Part of me HOPES HE IS GUILTY! because for an innocent man to have experienced just ONE day of this treatment is against all human rights and would not happen here in the UK. Where is the humanity!?

All I'll say is let's see how you react if it were to happen to you. And then you'd get to see people shrug you off. The guy wasn't "convicted" yet.

Your commentary comes across as very biased Lauren. It is very obvious you are anti Richard Allen.
I have listened to other presenters in the courtroom and their opinions are more balanced and objective.
I always believed RA could be guilty but this trial is quickly changing my thoughts. How could a NON convicted man be treated so appallingly in prison when he should only be in jail awaiting trial.
It is no wonder this judge and this courtroom is being so secretive and limits public access so much. LE in this case is not presenting well at all.

Im disgusted by the mistreatment of a person who is considered innocent until proven guilty. Its been two years this man has been confined to prison. Solitary confinement and unwillingly drugged with Haldol. Complete travisty of justice for the girls, their families. For Richard Allen and his family.
