Andy says it was nice to meet you lydia Lydia says I hate to meet people.I really don't care for Blind dates. And oh, I hate you too, Andy.😮😱😅😂🤣 Pretty girl but strange really strange.
I could watch The Andy Griffith show over and over even though I know what's going to happen, still makes me laugh 😂 every episode is such a treat! 👍👍👍
“Lydia. It means native of Lydia of ancient Greece but that’s not where I’m from. I’m from Greensboro.” “I hate the guitar. I don’t mind the clarinet or the saxophone but I hate the guitar.” LOL!!
Today's shows the people don't even seem human their almost emotionless..no humor or sadness is expressed. Just quick none funny lines one after the other very sad.
To me what makes the skit is that Lydia is not a bad looking woman. But her personality is just so plain and boring. I am sure she ended up finding a fellow who thought she was the cat's meow.
Wonderful acting!! I miss both Andy Griffith and Don Knotts they both used their talents and shared them with everyone they could.. I like watching the old programs they've acted in or performed in some way singing included. Lynnae Larson
And she hates the guitar (doesn’t mind the clarinet though), the outdoors (“When I go out into the sun I get the herpes”) or pretzels (“they lay on my chest”) 😺🤣 Lydia is one of favorites in any show…too bad she didn’t do a lot more than this show….she is awesome.
I always thought Josie Lloyd was very attractive. For the character she played here (Lydia) her natural gentleness shows through even though her character is supposed to be unlikable.Mustve been the way women back then carried themselves I guess.
In a different (earlier?) episode, she plays the mayor's daughter. She's very cute in it - - - doesn't really have any lines, but neither is she playing someone with lack of affect.
I love it when she is the daughter of Mayor Pike and tries to impress that guy who she thought was interested in putting Mayberry in pictures by singing for him. LOL
I don’t think I ever noticed Barney’s follow-up line about the Herpes. That’s going to add a whole new dimension for me now, when I watch this episode!
Lydia Crosswaithe is played by the actress Josie Lloyd, the daughter of the prolific character actor, Norman Lloyd. Some may remember Lloyd playing the role of Dr. Daniel Auschlander in the television drama St. Elsewhere over its six-season run (1982-88). He died in 2021 at the ripe old age of 106. HIs daughter, Josie, died in 2020 at age 80.
I love how when Barney comes over to "check Andy's sleeve for a tear" and up until he gets ready to walk out the door, Andy looks like he is doing everything he can to say in character and not crack up. Hilarious!
I like the episode where Andy and Barney went to Floyds to ask him if he had seen Otis. I forget what Floyd was saying but you could tell Andy was trying real hard not to laugh.
Barney's date set ups were the best! Not sure if this clip is where she says that she "hates chitchat". I have used that once in a while too, in honor of Lydia.
Ha ha I can relate 😂 My cousin set me up on a blind date with his friend,I could've killed him and his friend 😂 the guy was self centered, conceited and downright rude! We could not agree on anything,I had a miserable time while my cousin and his girlfriend were having a great time, my date and I sat there glaring at each other 😠 I strangled my cousin after the date from hell got dropped ha,ha 😂
The daughter of Norman Lloyd was a beautiful comic. I sure wish I could have seen her in other parts, I was going in the Army (60-70's) when she was in her prime.
I watched a ton of this and Leave it to Beaver when I was a teen in the 90s. Wasnt a family thing, just something about the shows from before I was born that attracted me to them.
I asked my 4 year old grandson which episode of Andy Griffith was his favorite, he told me Mr. McBeeVee. I bought my 40 year old daughter the first 5 seasons at Walmart for $39. Her 12 year old daughter watches it every night when they go to bed.
The casting crew mistakenly thought she was homely. I was in grade school when this show was on and I despised Helen Crump because she reminded me of all the stern, humorless women teachers I had in school.
That’s about how smooth a few blind dates I’ve been on went. Especially the time the girl looked just like my late mother who died when I was 5 at the age of 32. It was creepy as hell. Like the twilight zone.
I have seen every episode at least 100 times and I still laugh out loud at Lydia! She kills it!
She's like Debbie Downer on SNL. :)
Her deadpan “I hate the guitar” is burned into my brain since childhood so funny
Andy says it was nice to meet you lydia
Lydia says I hate to meet people.I really don't care for Blind dates.
And oh, I hate you too, Andy.😮😱😅😂🤣
Pretty girl but strange really strange.
I could watch The Andy Griffith show over and over even though I know what's going to happen, still makes me laugh 😂 every episode is such a treat! 👍👍👍
That's exactly what I have said. I have watched these a hundred times and when I know what is going to happen, I still laugh!
Same here I have watched them over and over and they get funnier and funnier.
A Classic best show ever I just hate they could never do a reunion I think most of them are all gone.
@@angelworlds9588 Yes that would've been wonderful,I believe the only survivors are Ron & Clint Howard.
@@brendapaddlety2413 "Lydia" passed in 2020.
I love Lydia’s deadpan delivery!
She’s Debbie Downer before SNL.
"I hate the outdoors! When I go out into the sun, I get the herpes!"
My favorite quote! 🤣
lolol
🤣😂
The Herpes!! !!!
Barney; Well sure you do
Why sure you do
"But that's not where I'm from. I'm from Greensboro." LOL

Damn I wish tv was still this funny! Loved this show. Today's tv shows are twisted and ugly.
Today's shows the people don't even seem human their almost emotionless..no humor or sadness is expressed. Just quick none funny lines one after the other very sad.
Yes, and full of filthy crude body functions.
Wholesome and funny. I still watch this show along with the Dick VanDyke show.
This is such a good skit!! Bravo to Andy Barney and the girls!!
To me what makes the skit is that Lydia is not a bad looking woman. But her personality is just so plain and boring. I am sure she ended up finding a fellow who thought she was the cat's meow.
It's not a skit.
@@vanmoody It proved what a good actress she was.
Wonderful acting!! I miss both Andy Griffith and Don Knotts they both used their talents and shared them with everyone they could.. I like watching the old programs they've acted in or performed in

Lynnae Larson
Her deadpan delivery of those lines should have won her an Oscar nomination.
Or an Emmy, cause this was TV
@@juandiegotorres9632 But she hates the Emmys. When she goes to the Emmys, she gets the herpes.
I hate the Oscars. I don't mind the Golden Globes or the Screen Actors Guild awards, but I hate the Oscars...
That stare and the way her eyes slowly move as she turns her head. Creepy, lol!
@@bbilltthompson LMAO - I see what you did there.
So sad to hear of Betty Lynn's passing here in 2021.
She was so well liked in all the episodes. RIP
She would talk to people at the Andy Griffith Museum in Mt. Airy Andy's hometown which is where she retired to.
As much as they tried to make Josie Lloyd look homely and unattractive, it didn't work. She was a doll baby!
I agree. If I was on a dream date with Lydia, we would be a huggin' and a kissin' while listening to songs about the "Crawdad hole".
They tried to make her look more Plain Jane as ‘Josephine Pike, Mayor Pike’s daughter in a couple earlier episodes.
why not hire a real plain jane actress? they need work too.
Agreed
Her character has the dullest personality. So incompatible with Andy, it’s hilarious. He loves the outdoors and the guitar. 😂
Loved this with Lydia. "I don't mind conversation, but I hate chit chat".
I agree with Lydia about chit chat🤪
Gotta admit I’m a little rusty on my elevator small talk myself

Yeah, quite a Cutie. They had alot of attractive women on Andy Griffith and the Three Stooges.
For some reason she reminds me of Audrey Hepburn
This is Josie's third guest appearance on the show.
She did two episodes of the show in 1961, playing the mayor's daughter .
I love it when she is the daughter of Mayor Pike and tries to impress that guy who she thought was interested in putting Mayberry in pictures by singing for him. LOL
Thelma Lou was cute, very cute.
One for the ages
Not just cute, very good looking. Barney was lucky.
She's nice... real nice!
Yes I wish women dressed acted and looked like they did in the 50s and early 60s
10 times better looking & acting than that buck toothed beech Helen Krump.
Barnie saying "well. sure ya do" all uncomfortable like, is hilarious
Barney
I don’t think I ever noticed Barney’s follow-up line about the Herpes. That’s going to add a whole new dimension for me now, when I watch this episode!
One of my favorite Andy Griffith scenes!
She was cast to come across as kind of homely and mousy, but she was (despite the hairdo) pretty cute.
Yea, id of been just fine with her lol
Yes she is
That slow, deadpan turn she does toward Andy is brilliant. Lydia's like some lost relative of the Addams Family... spooky as hell, yet funny.
Right?! Very creepy but I love it!
Lydia speaks her mind, she's painfully honest 😂
Painfully.
@@sableonblonde1973 exactly! Very good description 😊👍🤣

Norman produced The Alfred Hitchcock program, and she was in at least one episode as a school student.
If Josie was 80 in 2020, then she would have been about age 23, here in this episode, as "Lydia".
Thank you for your info.
Andy's blind date had such a rich and classy look
Thelma Lou is SUCH a cutie pie!! How Barney won her over, I'll never know.
anything can happen on TV. In real life Thelma Lou had a crush on Andy.
Lydia should have been in more episodes. So deadpan - she’s funny.
But they never married. He let her slip out of his hands because he couldn't commit.
@@waitn4theharpazoI think they eventually got married in the 1986 reunion TV movie.

Never mind the chitchat, Lydia’s a tiger in the sack
She also played Mayor Pike’s daughter (Juanita).
3:10 that moment when you've heard enough...and I do mean ENOUGH.
I could never understand what a cutie like Thelma Lou saw in Barney. As written, his character was not only stupid, he looked like a chicken.
Lydia is amazing!
Lydia might be dull, but she's smoking hot. She just needs someone to get her to relax and open up.
Herpes ! The gift that keeps on giving... Thanks Barn...
"When I go out into the sun, I get the herpes." LOL! 2:44
Lydia was beautiful.
True, Josie had a very pretty face.
Thanks for uploading this! So much fun, and your giggle after the herpes comment cracked me up.

LC's eyes drift upwards momentarily (undoubtedly distracted by boom mike overhead).
I saw that too.
Barney Fife. Once again making things interesting.
Barney Fife, once again trying to play matchmaker, as usual, for his best friend, poor cousin Andy.
Lydia was strange but she was actually cute in her own kinda way.
Reminds me of Kat Timpf
And Thelma Lou was absolutely adorable in this scene
Love this!!
Greatest situation comedy of all time. I guess that’s why it’s still on television 60 years later.
The daughter of Norman Lloyd was a beautiful comic. I sure wish I could have seen her in other parts, I was going in the Army (60-70's) when she was in her prime.
Look her up on IMDB....I did see her play a schoolgirl on a Twilight Zone episode.

Lydia was a much better choice for a date then the fun time girls. Lydia was dignified, beautiful, honest, and elegant.
As elegant as a receptionist in a funeral home

Classic show. 🖒🖒
They said the word herpes on The Andy Griffith Show!
Think it had a different meaning back then 😂
Nope no feelings left unbruised people where tough
Another word for cold sore. Wasn’t till the 70’s it was associated with the std.
How did Barney ever get a cute and vivacious girlfriend?
The funny thing is an actor that played a play with Don Knotts years after this show said after the show women would throw themselves at Knotts lol.

I think 'herpes' formerly meant something like hives, in this context.
Meant the same as now

Josie Lloyd
she was cute
Lydia did go on to date the Pyle boys, Gomer and Goober. They hit off!
She went out with goober, I don't remember her going out with Gomer
She then did not seem like she was here. On that episode, she seemed more lively.
She's almost as fun as the girls from Mt Pilot.
