This guy was a natural, comic genius. His face told everything. What a character he was. I watch these episodes a hundred times. And, when I know what Barney is going to do, I start laughing. We are lucky to have had Barney for 6 seasons. His visits were not the same though. He was the greatest comic character of all time. Yes, we all know that once he left, the show was never the same. Sad.
Don Knotts was a phenomenal actor. He could be funny without saying a word, or break your heart with only a couple. His vulnerability comes through in heavy scenes, and it really adds sincerity to his deliveries. Same with when he’s playing for laughs.
I have watched this show for over 30 years (reruns). The other day my 24 yo son was here and, of course, I had the AGS on, and I said “sorry, baby, you can change channels” and he said “No, mama, this is my childhood. I love all these clips of Barney Fife! The last one was probably one of the best because it showed how he wasn't afraid of those criminals who tried to bully and tease him. Most of the time Andy helped to keep him out of danger and trouble but this shows that Barney can stand up to people who dare try to disrespect him or his badge. He remembers what Andy told him about how the badge shows that you are the law and that people better respect that.

I love how Andy Griffith, in discussing the genesis of TAGS, always gave credit to Don Knotts for the success of the show. Don Knotts was a gem. Rest in Peace. Gotta love Barney Fife. My favorite episode was Barney's Unform but of course all his episodes were good and funny. It was a loss to the show when he left.
This was good stuff, but you left out what I thought was Barney's finest moment of the series. It was the episode in which a publisher, who had a vendetta against Andy over a traffic ticket, tried to besmirch Andy in an article, and Andy was called to a hearing to address charges of malfeasance. The article featured some derogatory remarks that Barney unwittingly made about Andy, and he was called to the witness stand to explain what it was about. On hearing Barney's published statements, Andy is understandably disappointed and angry. But when Barney does an excellent job of exculpating Andy's actions on the witness stand, the hearing commissioner exonerates Andy of any wrongdoing. After the hearing ends, Barney approaches Andy, and with a somewhat feeling of guilt and shame, extends his hand his as a way of consolation. Andy, although initially angry at Barney for what he first thought was betrayal, in turn magnanimously shakes it, showing his admiration for his deputy. Truly one of the most touching moments in the history of the series.
Well said a great synopsis. I enjoyed the hotel dectective where Barney thought the thief was him. The criminal was a superman bad guy. Turned out good because Andy came to the rescue once again
Only two people that could make me smile , anytime, every day, no matter what the day threw at me‼️ And that’s Don Knotts and Lucille Ball. Master & Mistress of comedy.❤👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
There is one thing that many do not realize about the characters. The Barney and Andy characters are actually cousins, It was only mentioned once, rather offhandedly in the second episode and never mentioned again This is why Andy always put up with him.
As great as Knotts was in comedic roles, he'd have been even greater in serious roles. His more serious bits here and there in these shows are actually my favorite Barney moments.
Like when the old mine caved in..he had no idea Helen and Andy had found another way out..they stayed there until Barney 'saved' them..it was rally cool..

I also enjoyed when the captain from Gilligan's Island hail h a l e came to town looking for a wife Barney was hilarious in that one
Gomer and barney should stayed longer. Great show anyway. Calls juanita at local diner from cook office. Lol.
One of a kind! Hes in my top 5.
I wish they hadn't cut it short when he was trying to resemble Rock Hudson. His facial expressions are hilarious 😂😂😂😂
Don Knotts was a gem. Rest in Peace. Gotta love Barney Fife. My favorite episode was Barney's Unform but of course all his episodes were good and funny. It was a loss to the show when he left.
The haunted house one was the best. Old Barney wasn’t scared of no ghost. 😂
The haunted house episode is one of my favorites too. Also the episode about the pickles.
Anybody remember "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken"?
I loved that one and also "The Shakiest Gun in the West" .
The Incredible Mr. Limpet was a good one too. :)
They were all good
I do and still love it to this day eventhough it came out in 1966.
@@toe2toe22 I bought the dvd.😊
He was a natural
He had a lot more acting versitility than directors utilized. He could play a vulnerable character.
Don Knotts, I loved his movies and TV appearances especially Three's Company.
He brought that corner sitcom up a notch
As funny as Barney was if we had more people like him we'd have less crime today.
RIP Andy and Barney
Amen...the show and them
are irreplaceable!!
Don played him so well and he was just so funny.
The last scene you selected was a great choice! Thanks!
Only two people that could make me smile , anytime, every day, no matter what the day threw at me‼️ And that’s Don Knotts and Lucille Ball. Master & Mistress of comedy.❤👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I just love seeing these shows. Can never get tired of them.
Andy was such a great man I grew up on this show and mash.. but more so this.. I learned so much from this show
Great video. He had several memorable moments on TAGS. He was talented and great character. Melanie
Always the greatest ever!
There is one thing that many do not realize about the characters. The Barney and Andy characters are actually cousins, It was only mentioned once, rather offhandedly in the second episode and never mentioned again This is why Andy always put up with him.
Andy called him Cousin Barney. And that was the end of it.
I loved all the cast members everyone of of them I’m 63yrs old I still watch the Andy Griffith Show I’ll never get tired watching the show it was a good clean funny show they had church I could go on an on they don’t make shows like Andy Griffith anyone
Andy has his back turned bc he's trying not to drop to floor laughing his head off! 🤣 Don Knotts--Comic genius. Knotts broke up Andy a bunch of times. When Knotts left the show to pursue a movie career IMO, Griffith stopped enjoying doing the show. Don Knotts could not be replaced! There was no one funnier or more likeable than Barney Fife! 💖❤😍😘
Awesome job on editing.
Thank you so much
