I loved the bumblebee, was sorry to see him go, but I also love your willingness to be adventurous and just see what happens...when we get too married to our pieces the fun gets lost I think
I have lots of.gray squirrels that demolish my sunflowers as soon as they bloom. So I gave up growing them. Yours are all beautiful!!! Especially the painted ones of course!!
I'm not using your style for my 1st painting but I did like one of your sunflowers in your garden so I've used that as my reference to draw the shape before using watercolour and will send it to you when it's complete. For my 2nd piece I plan to use brusho using your technique for the center of the sunflower because I really loved the dimension i gives and the way brusho interacts with water in a controlled wet on wet manner really looks exciting! I might even throw a splatter or two on in honour of you. If you'd like to see them both, I will get in touch for your feedback.
This is so beautiful, Rachel...love it and how thoughtful of you to do a fundraiser with it! XOXO I must admit...your "warm up" sunflower that you gave a peek of...well...it is absolutely beautiful my dear...I truly and I emphasize on the truly....lol....it's mesmerizing!!! HUGZ
You should...it is so gorgeous!!! ...I actually went back on the video just now to the spot where you show it...and I paused it...my goodness I love it!!!! XOXO

Super pretty! I tend to get very carried away with splatters and speckles… don’t know when to quit😂! So I tend to not use them very often… this looks so fun I’m going to have to try this. I absolutely love ALL of the Daniel Smith granulating colors- they are so beautiful and can effortlessly give such beautiful effect!
Hi, love your loose style. Im trying to paint looser. I don't have brusho. I tried sanding off some water coler pencil on to wet paint. It doesn't seem to melt/ expload as much as the brusho. ❤
Rachel, thx for this! Is your paper vertical or horizontal, Dear? If I were painting on a vertical surface, I wouldn’t be using Watercolor paint. Not even if the paper was taped in place.

Ukraine Fundraiser?
I attached it to the fundraiser, at least I thought I did - I've never done a fundraiser so hopefully it's here. Let me check.
Yes, it's on the right next to the video if you're not in full window mode, at least on my desktop. It may be in different places on different devices
Also be sure to get the line drawing and reference - it's posted on my community tab!
Fabulous! So helpful!!
Glad it was helpful!
I think your bee was a lovely addition
@@CarolGrolman thank you!
I actually love the bee in the painting! All so lovely!
Love the granulation of the ultramarine blue, too!
I can't live without ultramarine! It was so good to see you yesterday!
Really appreciate the ‘ process ‘ that you demonstrate. Very helpful to me.
Glad to hear that!
Absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LIVE this painting and the looseness and splashy effects. I’ll be watching this one again and again.
Tune in today for a new one!

❤ Spectacular sunflower painting! Beautiful!
Thank you Katherine - it was so fun and care free to paint!
Your loose style is something I want to do...I always overwork. Thanks for sharing!
I often overwork. But I'd rather overwork than underwork!
You’re so fun to watch! I really love this sunflower! Thank you so much!
This sunflower was so fun to paint. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Lynda!
Looks fab - I am pleased that you said goodbye to that bee 👊

Wow. Love all the colors. Love all the splatters.

THANK YOU
My pleasure and I enjoyed reading your thoughts!
Thank you Rachel ,awsome sunflower and great tution .
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Rachel, beautiful. I’m going to paint this and sell it to raise money for Ukraine.
Wonderful!
I loved the bumblebee, was sorry to see him go, but I also love your willingness to be adventurous and just see what happens...when we get too married to our pieces the fun gets lost I think
Yes and if we are not adventurous we don't grow as artists and our work stagnates!
Beautiful piece!!!
Thank you very much!
Awesome! I tried one too.
They are so fun to paint!
Beautiful 🌻 sunflower~👍🌺😊
Thank you 💗🇺🇦💗🎨💗
I have lots of.gray squirrels that demolish my sunflowers as soon as they bloom. So I gave up growing them. Yours are all beautiful!!! Especially the painted ones of course!!
Sprinkle cinnamon from the dollar store around your plants, or pepper flakes. It doesn't hurt the squirrels and chipmunks, but they hate it.
I have naught squirrels too. I feed them and that seems to keep them off my sunflowers. Not the best solution but what do you do?
I'll have to try that!
Great lesson!! Thanks for including the transcript. It is super helpful.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
so fun!
Thanks Deb!

I'd love to see them!
I am in the 50% who do NOT like splashies . However, I DO love your sunflower painting. It's beautiful . Good move hiding the too busy bee .
Thank you and it's fun to hear your perspective 💗🎨💗
Thanks for the explanation of your process. I'm really an awful flower painter! I love sunflowers too. I might just try it!
Believe it or not I consider myself a horrible flower painter too.
This is beautiful Rachel. Thx as usual. 🥰
You are so welcome!
rubbing your belly and patting your head? lol
great texture to the centre of the flower 😀
😊 thank you
This is so beautiful, Rachel...love it and how thoughtful of you to do a fundraiser with it! XOXO

Thank you so much! I think I might make that one available next week!

I love Daniel Smith colors too. Lamp Black is my favorite believe it or not!
Oh I know! Lamp black makes the best animal fur!
❤❤❤❤❤!!! Super
Thank you so much!
I loved your sunflower watercolor .:) is youd paper flat on your worktable.? Thank you. Very fun to watch
Yes I keep my paper flat. Thank you!
Hi, love your loose style. Im trying to paint looser. I don't have brusho. I tried sanding off some water coler pencil on to wet paint. It doesn't seem to melt/ expload as much as the brusho. ❤
Yes I've heard that works pretty well too!
Your warm up sunflower shown at 19 mins is a fantastic sunflower. It's so loose and semi-abstract, did you film it?
Yes it's unlisted at th-cam.com/video/u4sckFqeU1M/w-d-xo.html
Rachel, thx for this! Is your paper vertical or horizontal, Dear? If I were painting on a vertical surface, I wouldn’t be using Watercolor paint. Not even if the paper was taped in place.
My paper is flat : ) Thanks for saying hi!
Thank you....love your videos...I will try this👩🏻🎨
I just uploaded the reference and line drawing to my community tab!
Ward Jean Stroud !
Have you painted larger sunflowers (16 x 20 or 24 x 36, for example)?
No but that would be so fun!
😊😊😊😊❤
Is there a sketch outline for the sunflower?
Yes - I'll post it in my community tab. Heading over there now.

What am I able to substitute if I don't have Brusho?
Watercolor pencil shavings would work
❤❤❤❤❤🎉😊❤❤❤❤
Check out your bees...???
Yeah?
Rubbing your belly and tapping your head.
haha indeed
