Honorable mentions could be Geena Davis in Cuthroat Island 1995, Kevin Costner in Water World 1995 or The Postman, Geene Kelly in Xanadú 1980, Elizabeth Berkeley in Show Girls 1995 but she acted a little more decent in First Wives Club 1996, Darla Hood in The Bat 1959

No, Basic Instinct 2 was GREAT!
Take care
I seriously disagree with Freddy Got Fingered. That movie was comedy brilliance, especially towards the end.
The Master of Disguise is probably the worst film I have ever seen.
'Killed Tom Green's Movie Career' This was his first movie. He didn't even have a movie career to kill, LOL!
Not all bad Eric andre is his successor
Also, that movie RULES.
I thought I saw him in another movie...something where he wanted to feed someone's pet snake, and it bit him instead?
@@dustybunny6716that was Road Trip, and it came out first before Freddy Got Fingered. He was also in Charlie's Angels before it too
This came out in 2001. He was in Road Trip (2000) before that.
I was so sure you were going to have Mike Myers and the Love Guru on this list.
Oh god yes😂
Mike Myers just was picking anything.. He is a talented dude and it shown in those Austin Powers movies.. I think he seen the numbers on the checks and agreed to the movies or something..
@@kenrickeasonhe was apparently VERY committed to doing that character and movie, actually. It was based on his love of Indian spiritualism, which he turned to after his father’s death, and he apparently shopped this character around for a bit. I’ve heard rumors he was going to be introduced in an Austin Powers movie, but he got his own film instead. And given how Myers has a reputation for being an extreme perfectionist who doesn’t want to work on films if they’re not to his liking (he apparently cancelled out of a film adaptation of his SNL character Dieter from the SPROCKETS sketches… even though HE wrote the script!), the fact that THAT was the film he committed to doing is… telling.
Yes I remember he chose to do Love Guru instead of Austin Powers 4
Don't forget the Cat In The Hat. That really killed his career outside of the Shrek movies.
With Master of Disguise, filming was shut down for a brief period after 9/11. Dana Carvey talked about how they shot the Turtle scene when they returned, and how cast and crew had a moment of silence and prayer right before filming. Imagine the absurdity of this with Carvey in Turtle costume and makeup.
no way looool
Legit funnier than anything in that movie to begin with lmfao
Wow. Carvey's writing for this movie was already terrible unfunny, but this is like playing a kazoo at a funeral.
Did their moment of prayer bring the victims of 9/11 back to life?
@@dangerousdays2052 Any other stupid questions?
Batman and Robin (1997) George Clooney managed to come out unscathed, but Chris O'Donnell and Alicia Silverstone never recovered from that disaster of a film.
That's because George Clooney has wider range of acting ability, drama, action, etc., not to mention he's quite a good director. Meanwhile O'Donnell and Alicia Silverstone were only promoted as teenage heartbeat, something that quickly vanished after Batman & Robin movie were seen as a joke.
@@pluviosityplus George had ER at the time
Alicia Silverstone came out of nowhere with a very small but extremely pivotal role in the (excellent) horror film "The Lodge". It's a very serious performance and she did a believable job.
I thought Tom green was a weirdo and "Freddy got fingered" just proved it.
He's like that weird kid in school that eats grass for attention.
@@MiketheratguyMultimedia and was good in Reptile.
How did Halle Berry's Catwoman not make the list?
Because she was in hit films after that including two X-Men sequels so it didn’t hurt her career plus she has something that most of the actors on this list don’t besides Brando, an Oscar
@@andrewft31 She herself said it tanked her career. And Storm isn't a role she got after Catwoman, it's a role she got before Catwoman and continued after. There's a massive difference.
Because she was also storm in the X men movies, and has still had a decent career after the fact
Because it's Watchmojo, and they don't do large amounts of research. They probably forgot about Halle Berry.
@@lindenstromberg6859 No, it's bc it's a top 10, not top 20.

He is doing better rn, actually.
Even his mother shared a bit about his therapy sessions thats been working.
Heck, last update I've read he was gifted an Ahsoka action figure.

A risky role is a role worth taking.. look at Christian Bale
Look at Robert Downey Jr. It was a huge risk casting him as Iron Man, and it was a huge risk for him to play an Australian playing a black guy.

I love how Faye Dunaway’s performance in “Mommie Dearest” has become so iconic 🔥
For alltge wrong reasons sadly
@VendettaSmiles the way it makes domestic violence into something funny. Just seeing Dunaway go in all may be hilarious but on a sensitive topic like domestic abuse it really does make it seem like it's glorifying it in some ways

I still remember TURTLE TURTLE TURTLE since I was a kid.
I suffered through it (yes, that is right word for it) as a grown-up, when I worked at a cinema that booked this film. I still recall it selling few tickets, and was pulled after a week or two.
What was the director thinking of having his daughter in a movie with no acting experience? I find it absurd
Sofia Coppola did have some acting experience. Apart from that, Coppola cast his sister in The Godfather - she was nominated for an Oscar. He had his father do the music - he won an Oscar. He gave his nephew Nicholas Cage his first major roles, he had his son AD on Dracula and that worked out. People complain about nepotism over casting Sofia in Godfather 3, but that was literally the one time hiring a family member didn't work out for him. So who can blame him?
@@platypusfrenzy Winona Ryder was originally slated to play the role, but her mental-health issues caused her to drop out. Sofia was a last-minute replacement.

@@erwinwoodedge4885 she's actually worse. You could have used a shrub to do her scenes & it would've have better chemistry.
After earth was so boring 😴
After earth is one of those films I CONSISTENTLY forget exists until someone or something reminds me of it. It has absolutely no staying power in my brain. Once the day passes, it goes one ear out the other and it's gone. Only for the cycle to repeat.
It’s spelled “Earph”
@@calebdonaldson8770 absolute facts. And I saw the dang thing in theaters. The only thing I remember about that fever dream is that his suit changed color and I think a giant bird and bird nest 😂. And My God, whenever I see a clip from the movie, I don't remember that terrible freaking accent that Jaden was doing the whole time 😭. Like what the heck was that? 💀
I imagine that someday, considering the rapid advance of AI, movies like this may be "fixed" by inserting different characters and dialog, and replacing "the problem". That way the CGI, sets, and everything else might be saved.
@@rosspimental8384 WELCOME TO URF! NOW DAT'S WHAT I CALL A CLOSE ENCOUNTER! PEACE!
Mommie dearest is unintentionally funny. Next to The room and Troll 2 for so bad they're good movies.
Freddy Got Fingered didn't sink Green, it just confirmed what everyone thought. He had already plunged in popularity. FGF was just a final nail for someone already on the way out.
Exactly, I think The Tom Green Show wasn’t on MTV at that point either.
fgf was awesome!
tom green was never meant to be a film actor. the guy basically created podcasting. he is a borderline genius but not mediocre enough to be a hollywood star.
It’s too bad that one bad film would cause someone to be taken off casting lists.
Same with directors. Jonathan Frakes makes one bad film and then got taken off lists.
Frakes is primarily a TV director, anyway. The only good film he directed was Star Trek: First Contact...
@@IlGreven I thought Clockstoppers did well. It was the film after that, Thunderbirds, that screwed his career.
He has done more than one bad film. Have you forgotten about the utter horseshit that was Star Trek: Insurrection?
Haven't watched it yet, but I'd be shocked if Mike Meyers wasn't on it for The Love Guru.
He's not.
@@ericd6781 Yeah...I was disappointed after seeing the whole thing. I mean, Meyers was doing great until that horrid film.
@@SDChargersFreak Did you see the movie? I liked it. I think what killed Mike Myers career was that he was a jerk. I have never heard a good thing said about him. Every SNL cast member but Myers has appeared in an Adam Sandler movie. That tells you everything.
i am going to have so much fun with this one.
1) sharon stone: 56 projects to her name since basic instinct 2, thats just over 1/3 of her 151 career credits.
2) jaden smith: not counting music videos, 8 roles after, After Earth. 5 roles before. the rest of his 60 listed credits are music videos.
3) tom greene: 38 of his 57 roles were after freddy got fingered
4) maria pittilo: 12 of her 40 roles were after godzilla, and no that did not kill her career, 21 of her 40 roles were TV roles. she just never hit it big.
5) klinton spilsbury: 3 roles. thats it. not much i can say on that.
6) dana carvey: 21 of 51 roles after Master of Disguise.
7) lindsay lohan: 29/65 but she also had severe issues.
8) faye dunaway 117 credits. 29 BEFORE Mommy Dearest, so yeah. try again watchmojo
9) Joan Crawford: it wasnt because of trog. her career was declining in the 60s. she was aging out of the business
10) sofia coppola: 7/25 credits after godfather 3, but also has 26 directing credits after pt 3. although yes, after being critically panned for that role, she gave up acting. thats the only one you got right 🤣😂

I didn't know Maria Pitillo was famous before her Godzilla role.
yeah i just had to say, "who?"
What happened to Faye Dunaway was terrible! She did an amazing job and brought attention to domestic violence.
seriously - that was an autobiography from her adoptive daughter! Nowadays it would be an acceptable film
Yeah, she was always a good actress, and she did her best with that role. The problem was that her character was a monster, but people saw it as a hit job against a legend. While the movie was indeed one-sided because it was based on the perspective of Crawford's daughter, and certain aspects were definitely exaggerated, it was not too far from the truth, but it did not help that she always had a reputation of being difficult to work with, so people could not separate art from the actress.
Dunaway was awful in Mommie Dearest and I generally like her in everything else she has done. I saw Mommie Dearest before it was released at a screening at 20th Century Fox. By the end of the movie most everyone was dying of laughter.
Yes, she was that bad!
@@1etherealreality Nowadays, people have retroactively softened the stance on her performance. It was over-the-top, for sure, but most people contribute it mainly to the script and direction, and it is definitely not as reviled as years past. At the very least, the movie has achieved a degree of cult status.

Godzilla 98 was so good i love to Watch itwhen is raining 😅
I thought it was pretty good too.

Macaulay Culkin: The Good Son & Richie Rich!!!
Macauley was actually offered the chance to reprise his role in Home Alone Part 3, but he turned it down. He felt he had 'outgrown' the role. He staged a 'comeback' of sorts with that movie about the club promoter who went on trial for murder.

I liked it when I was a little kid. I have no idea what I’d think of it today.
Also Carvey suffered terrible side effects from a butched surgical intervention on his back or something, whihch ended his career.
I love it so much
Jake Lloyd was lucky that _Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace_ didn’t end his acting career, but it was never the same afterward. Lindsay Lohan, having peaked in _Mean Girls_ in 2004, deserves better than _I Know Who Killed Me._

Mommy Dearest was based on the autobiography of the daughter. The book destroyed Crawford’s reputation, not the movie.
Actually, Jaden Smith's career got killed when he opened a twitter account.
Lmaaooo they did the same list 4 years ago. Just worded differently
They do this everytime with just about every list. It's annoying. Sad how they're running out of content.
Damn. I liked the 1999 Godzilla. 😂
Right ? I think the people who say it's a bad movie are only a very loud minority...
My dad worked for Corning. They hired Clayton Moore to advertise their new photosensitive sunglasses, which he wore instead of his mask, and he'd carry a Morgan silver dollar instead of a silver bullet.
Clayton Moore did not originate the Lone Ranger Role. He is the man who is most associated with the role and the man who played the role for most of the show's run in the 1950's. But he is NOT the one who originated the role. The character originate on the Radio back in the 1930's and the first person to portray the role was John L Barret.
Every actor has bad roles, and/or bad movies. Sad that there are a lot of genuinely talented people on this list.
Guilty as charged.I liked Dunaway in Mommie Dearest.
Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo sneakily mentioned for 5 seconds was great.
Well heck I didn't know the guy who played The Governor in The Walking Dead as in Basic Instinct 2.
Because when he did Basic Instinct 2 he wasn't famous yet, he was hired for TWD only 10 years later...

You forgot Mike Meyers "Cat in the Hat." Some actors can only be funny if they have a support team of great writers working for them. Otherwise, they can't write funny material to save their lives. Same thing with Dana Carvey, who was one of the writers of "Master of Disguise."
Let’s just be real about Green for a second, his schtick had worn thin & was already on minute 14 of his 15 before that god awful movie.

Mike Myers in The Love Guru. Probably the worst movie I have ever seen and Myers was never cast in a leading role ever again outside of voicing Shrek. It also doesn't help that Mike Myers had a reputation of being a complete asshole on set. It would seem that his bad behavior coupled with his performance in The Love Guru essentially damaged his career irreparably.
