    This car changed my life and that is an understatement. I was not able to drive due to a neck condition for a couple years, but luckily I found autopilot and FSD which makes driving short trips possible for me now. I don’t think the accessibility Tesla could provide certain people is talked about enough. Would love for you to pin this or bring it up in an episode. Thanks for always making great content!

    Have had a Model 3 long range in Australia for 2 months and am 100% happy. No manufacturing problems and performance is amazing.
    With Auto-Pilot, I find it easier to use indicators to drop it out of Auto Pilot so I can lane change ant then restart Auto Pilot after I change lanes.
    I had poor WiFi in the garage so software updates were a problem. I had to put a new modem into garage to allow for reliable updates.
    Charging in Australia is much better than USA as we use 240V everywhere. Recharging on standard power points will recharge at 12km/hr so I can use cheaper off peak rates to provide over 100km each night which is more than my daily drive so have never used a fast charger.

  • @chrisjs6123

    Had mine for a week now. M3P. So impressed with it. Comfortable, beautifully built and so so fast. And also so so easy to drive slowly. Trundling along in traffic it is very easy and relaxing. Road opens up and it just accelerates like a monster.
    Only downsides so far, here I’m Australia it seems to have an odd effect on drivers of fast cars. They seem to want to race off every set of lights. (It’s fun to ignore them as they howl off in a scream of smoke and you just accelerate normally as if you didn’t notice them.)

    I have a M3P delivered March 2021, so we may have the same production run.
    I have the passenger rattle that I asked Tesla to fix in my 1 SC visit, and I don't think they even tried. I took it apart myself and tried to add some foam pads and tie down wires a little better, but still get some rattling. I recently sprayed Silicone lubricant into the door panel seam by the cupholder, and it helped, but it's still there a bit.
    I also have the rubber door seal in the rear driver window that you show at 17:02. I ended up super gluing it myself, though got a little bit on the tan material.
    Overall, I love the car and have no regrets buying it. You did forget to mention some of the upgrades of going from SR+ to LR/P. For one, you don't get the the sub and all of the same speakers/amps you do on the higher end models. That was a big deal to me, though I still find the rear subwoofer a bit underwhelming and wish it were a bit larger and controlled separately in the infotainment system. A 10" woofer with the 150w RMS amp already there with separate adjustability would have been clutch. I turn the bass down to about -1.5, as too much bass makes the font door panels rattle in some songs, and the 40-60hz range can just be overpowering anyways. I really wish it had more bass in the 20 to 40hz range, and is my biggest complaint about the stereo.
    While the software can sometimes be buggy, I don't find it hugely worse than most electronics. Show me a modern computerized device that doesn't have any glitches. Overall, it's fast, responsive, well laid out, and fairly customizable. I hope they continue to add useful features and more customization.
    There is a reason these cars are so popular; they're just great overall, despite their flaws.

    Agree for FSD. No way I would spend $10K for it. As for wipers, use the voice commands. I took a little time and very seldom use the screen. The only issue I have is that voice commands don't work for turning the headlights on or off. This is annoying as I often drive on roads that have daytime headlights required. I cannot turn them on except to start touching the screen. All while I am driving on a two lane road through the hills( Hwy 152). Other than that no issues.

    Thank you for informing us us on phantom breaking in the Y. You are the first to draw serious attention to it. I never use Cruse or Auto Pilot on 2 lane roads, with a semi truck in the oncoming lane. I will sometime get a warning, but it will always break and drop speed by 10 to 20 mph. Many people experience that the wipers hardly ever work in Auto. Also the Bright to Dim lights never work properly . ( ya they are working on them) Still love my car though

  • @stuartvasepuru1423

    Ryan, southern California sounds like Queensland, Australia, sunshine-wise. The Model 3's glass roof is a lovely thing to have in winter here, but the summer sun is just too hot for it, even with the aircon on. I thought about adding a darker coating, but then found a set of aftermarket shades made by Temai, which clip into place in seconds and can be stored in the boot (sorry, trunk) when not needed. They also colour match the interior perfectly, so you hardly notice them. For extra comfort, I added an extra layer of thermal protection by lining them with a sheet of foil-covered foam used for windscreen shades - job done!

    I own a Model 3 and a Model Y and TOTALLY agree about the rear view mirror visibility! A peephole gives more visibility than the Model Y’s rear view mirror! I was amazed how well we were able to see out the back when we got our Model 3.

      @@conorrichard9829 It’s a toss up. Both have pro’s and con’s. The 3 handles a little better and is more fun to drive (IMO). I’m a larger guy and with the higher seats, I’m able to get in/out of the Y with zero effort. I feel like I’m sitting up in the Y, but laying back in the 3. I have to duck down to get in the 3 without hitting my head on the frame, and have to use a bit of effort in my knees to lift myself out of it. Plus there is way more back seat room/storage space in the Y. If I could only keep one, it would be the Y, but I have no regrets in getting the 3 to complement it.

    Got my M3SR+ in Sept 2021, I really love it. It’s been mostly flawless. Another thing that bothers me is the Navigation, I’m not a fan of the Google Maps on the Tesla. I find that the default map scale is too big when navigating. It also tells you which lane you should be in but they all show up as thru arrows, no turn arrows. Additionally, it would be helpful for local and arterial roads to be different shades of color so it’s much clearer where the major roads are located. Apple Maps show which intersections are signals or stop controlled, this would be nice.

    • @johnmckay1423
      @johnmckay1423 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If only they actually used Google maps for the navigation instead of overlaying the graphics on their own system. Waze is just better; really frustrating you can't use it in the Tesla.

      I think it depends a lot on how long you want to keep the car. I’m not sure how anybody could justify spending $200/month or $10,000 unless they were going to keep the car for 15 years and were 100000% convinced that FSD would be level 5 in short order.

  • @tomooo2637
    @tomooo2637 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have not had phantom braking for a while now, seam better than last year.
    Main problem for me was when auto pilot stopped using the radar last year at I got lots of panics and screaming at me to take over, one over bridge in a dip always triggered a panic up until about 6 weeks ago, much improved now.
    The most recent problem is auto pilot being unavailable quite a lot, I think it is penalizing me as I live on a single track road typical in the UK and thinks I am a bad driver.
    But still the best car ever and I am old

  • @Light23K
    @Light23K 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    We Tesla owners already have an advantage at red lights because our foot is already hovering about the acceleration pedal while ICE drivers have to keep holding down break and have to switch pedals when it’s green. That’s a second slower before the race even starts.

    • @ml5323
      @ml5323 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know a lot about EVs and I'm aware the whole industry is going that way. There's nothing sexy about speeding up silently. Its way more fun with a rumbling engine, listening the beautiful exhaust note, and chirping 2nd and 3rd gear. Brings a smile to my face every time.
      That's like saying the drums are the best instrument in the song, so you only listen to songs with drums. I like a chorus that orchestrates my experience, not just the solo drummer.
      Even if it is slower, I'm looking for the "thrill" in driving, and its not based solely on acceleration. I beat the piss out of my car, and that's why I'll never buy new. Its not fun following road rules, the "thrill" is in breaking the rules and cutting people off after a triple espresso ;)

    He touched on a lot of topics that I do appreciate about the car. I also believe that this is the best EV, considering it's performance and price point. However, the video does feel a bit more skewed to favoring the vehicle:
    - streaming services are great but there is a monthly connection fee after the initial subscription (one that comes when purchased) expires
    - the vehicle has a larger turning radius (can't do steeper turns compared to other vehicles) which is especially frustrating during parking
    - the side mirrors are small and narrow. This puts huge blind spots for the two side rears. Plus, the truck is somewhat more elevated compared to other sedans, so the visibility is actually worse

    Great video as always. I love and look forward to all of your reviews. Question: Since you have owned/driven pretty much all Tesla variants, my concern about the 2023 Model-3 RWD is the downgraded audio system. All other deletes don't seem to be deal breakers for my interest in the RWD (All-wheel drive, duel motor, carbon-fiber spoiler, 20" wheels, fog lights) . What is your honest opinion of the sound system on the RWD verses the LR or Performance?

    My 94 year old uncle, believe it or not bought his first electric car, a Model 3 Long Range. I helped him pick it up at Tesla. I was surprised and impressed with the build quality and the efficiency of the purchasing process. Test driving the car I also was impressed at how the car drove, its quietness, and visibility up front. But the deal breaker for me was the basic adaptive cruise control which stopped unexpectedly five times on a vacant smooth road with no traffic or pedestrians. Worse than that, the car panic stopped when a semi drove on the opposite side of a broad two lane road, which could have caused me to be rear-ended. This is unacceptable for me, for my five year old Subaru has a better adaptive cruise control. Why would anyone spend 12,000 dollars more on ‘self-driving’ when basic safety functions don’t work?

    The phantom braking in the last few releases of TACC/AP has been terrible. I have a 2021 SR+ which is supposedly vision only, but it was okay at first. Now it’s almost unusable on two lane highways. Every oncoming vehicle that’s a pickup truck or bigger gives a false collision warning and panic braking.
