Sergei seems to be quite cognizant of the range at which he can hit but his opponent cant and tries to draw out exchanges at this range. If Tai falls into this trap I think he gets caught in a similar fashion to Lewis (falling just short as Sergei clips him). Overeem initially struggled at range but quickly found success in the clinch, I think the path to victory for Tai lies therein.

I love Tai but I think he's getting bulldozed by pavlovich, he can definitely do it by chopping the legs and maybe even taking down pavlovich but Tai's style of brawling ain't going to be good against pavlovich who hits like a truck and is accurate with his shots and also has a 9 inch reach.
If tai was more elusive and hard to hit then I'd be more comfortable but he just likes to get into a scrap and trade sometimes and I don't think that's a good stylistic matchup for this russian tank.

@@The_Reality_Filter I think maybe it was a quick turnaround. I think i heard him say the reason for that was so he could celebrate Christmas thats why he wont be on the perth card. If he had taken advantage straight away when he rocked Gane he would've won that fight.
I think he's definitely a top 10 fighter and that makes anything possible. He can come back stronger if he chooses

This fight is an attempt to bury Tai with a high risk/low reward opponent that knocks him out of title contention, like they did to Lewis. Dan you know how fighting works, big punchers don't have a ceiling at Heavyweight, if Tai fought Gane 10 times he finishes him a few of those times like he almost did in round 2, and then he has a fair chance of beating Ngannou for the belt. Same for Derrick Lewis.
So, there was a timeline where Tai would be UFC champ in the next few months, and maybe even be the guy Jon Jones would have to return and fight for the belt, and the UFC absolutely hates that a chubby guy who doesn't take this seriously could be on top of their sport. They want him to be "fat comedian who drinks from shoes for viral vids", not "UFC champion"
