Well as the truck got really lucky with only minor cosmetic damage and the loader did most of the job he had what he could and since time spent driving there anyway!
To me thats just part of the job. Now I do not work in Casey's industry. But when I build a pc for someone it will go through a burn in process to ensure no problems with any of the components.
30 years of commercial driving and ice and wind got me in March. Jacknifed and totaled the truck. Maybe I’m qualified for Swift now. Learned how to wreck a truck
One time is no time, two times are one too much! 👍 So you will have one more chance before you have to work for Swift. Glad you didn’t hurt yourself. 😊
Just remember, the more you are on the road, the more likely you are to have an accident. As a driver myself, I've had three accidents in the past 20 years, mind you I drive a taxi and it was always the other guy's fault. One time I got hit by someone making a left-hand turn into my right front fender for example. People are idiots on the road, just remember, always drive where you're comfortable, especially in bad weather conditions.

The few times I've dealt with tow companies they always seem to act like they have you by the shot hairs, compounding a already bad situation, Casey could teach alot of tow operators some courtesy.
Casey, you show a side of tow operators that a great many don't see in action or realize - helping to safe the vehicle for travel, checking his brakes and lights, etc (being the great guy that you are). I've seen many a tow driver spend more time cleaning the debris up from an incident than the actual response took, and even though you are supposed to, there are those that do just the bare minimum to get by. I feel for the driver - an empty trailer is a bad thing, and this is one of the reasons why!
Your versatility and equipment knowledge must put you on top of the towing industry in your area. Great job Casey in explaining what you were doing and why.

Casey, I remember when you had those auto chains installed. Seeing them in action was great. I'm sure they cost a bit but what an investment in safety and convenience!
Just so I have this right, you take the tools after you're finished using them and put them back where they belong? Could that be the step I'm missing that makes it impossible to walk through my garage or find things when I need them? Interesting concept. UK here; I wondered what those 'senders' were that were down, until I saw the gritter truck and realised it was a regional accent for 'cinders' ! Learnt something there - we call it grit, or salt... ;-)
I d say most of the rest of the country would say sander as they are spreading sand or a sand salt mix usually as the salt keeps the sand from freezing
Here we tend to use ground rock salt, usually pre-wetted. There is a lot of science now behind the different stages of road clearance. It's often tricky when dialect word choice and accent leave the listener confused! (Cue picture of a 'bread roll' with multiple names)
@heartland96a the salt doesn't always keep the mixture from freezing but it does let the sand provide some traction. The downside is the sand needs to be swept up afterwards but I think it was a great help in our city. I have gone sideways down a few streets in a snow plow and it was not fun to be sitting behind the wheel but the truck went wherever it was going until some traction or obstacle stopped it. Not fun. Hit a power pole one time and the blade skipped past the pole and so it was between the blade and the bumper then I had to turn away from the pole to get away from it. The resident of the house came running out to see what happened because it was really loud inside. Everything was ok because I was just barely moving.
The cinders used in Central Oregon is actually crushed red volcanic rock. Very course and abrasive material with a large local supply. Only downside is increased windshield replacements in the winter months.
Nice recovery. It only takes a split second for a jack-knife to happen. The auto chains could probably avoided this judging how easy it was for you to drive up empty.
When you said "auto chains" my mind went nuts trying to figure out what kind of witchcraft was necessary to make that work. Then I went to your video about it. Amazing how simple it is.
I really enjoyed this, atypical, body cam roadside gig. Just focused on what has to happen, not the cinematics or narration. Both have their place in a great video like this one.
Prefer your off road jobs but it is very interesting seeing how you handle these other sorts of problems too. Your attention to the details of getting the driver safely on the way proves you are less lazy than you like to joke with us about :)
I have to be honest, Onspots are wonderful. I even have them on my Ford F150 truck. I used them after some nor'easters here in Connecticut and they are incredible. They worked very well in my driveway when it was still icy. Onspot mostly focuses on commercial vehicles but they do often have kits that will work on pickup trucks like mine.

Back In the 90s our bus that picked us up for school had those automatic chains. It was the first and only bus at the time and they were a savior damn near every day in the winter.

I would like to see a video from outside of the truck how the auto chains work I have never seen nor heard of such I am not a truck driver but my dad was a diesel mechanic worked at Frito-Lay in California and Kentucky freight liner in Kentucky so I grew up around tractor trailers and I have just never seen such sounds cool as hell but I sure would like to see them work

I always enjoy the rollback jobs. But the remote for the bed and winch i can't handle. The sounds made by pushing the buttons is very similar to the sound airport metal detectors made back in the 70s and early 80s. I couldn't be within 100 yards of one of those when it went off without cringing in pain. Another reason I haven't been on a plane since September 1985. My sensitive hearing is part of why i was a Communications Technician Technical Branch (CTT) in the Naval in 70. I still enjoy watching and turning the volume back up when you are done with the remote. Just a story from a subscriber. Peace Out.
One thing you need to start doing is close your side boxes when you get stuff out. Beings that was on the traffic , if an auto hit the box you would have parts all over the road.

Casey put a zip tie on the end of your rim sling. Leaving the tail makes it easier to get through. Because you can grab the zip tie tail easier. God bless

All big rigs should be running auto chains. The roads are so bad with pot holes. We drove from Eug to Moab for EJS on our way back 30 miles east of Boise our RV hitch bolts shook loose. We lost all but 1 we got pulled over not loosing trailer. We only check under RV maybe once a year. We check trailer ever time we stop but we don't crawl under RV or Pick up. We will from now on. We also had 1 strap shake off Jeep twice which could have been a disaster. We do not have cheap straps. We have been dragging race cars & Jeeps around for over 40 years these are 2 firsts for us. Happy Trails 👣

I've got 1 small shop, 1 back porch, and 4 free HF tape measures. Very frustrating on day's that they all hide.

I lose tools just sitting at one corner of the vehicle (like working on brakes). I find the tool on a box halfway across the garage.

In some parts of the country they use cinders (coal ash) because it is dark and absorbs sunlight, and it is also easier on some trees than is salt.

When I was younger I was in the local FD here in the Northeast. We ran onspots ("auto chains") on all our trucks. Life savers

They are about 2k per axle. A quality set of normal chains runs about 1k per axle

You know they make holders for those chocks? Talk to the Fire Dept. We use chocks just like them.
