    Apparently, you can call the company that made the safe to get the backdoor code to open it. Liberty Safe did that for the FBI.

    That Omega watch could be worth a fair bit, depending on its' age. Treat it with a little more respect.

    @edsmith4414 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    And THIS shows you what most safes are made of. The doors are stout....the rest of it is fairly thin gauge sheet metal with a layer of heat resistant cement inside easily busted out with a hammer. I've cut the sides and bottoms out of several, old and newer.....all the same.
    Only way to reasonably secure one is bolt to a concrete floor, then form and pour 4 inches of concrete with plenty of rebar around everything but the door. That will add maybe an hour for someone to get in it.

      Key lesson here: safes and other locking devices are only to *slow down* entry; they absolutely do not *prevent* entry.

    Cold steel recon tanto. Im my opinion the find was the actual safe. You should of had a locksmith open it and install a new lock. Safe was probably worth 300

      When I opened up the safe, the bottom was all rusted out. Not worth salvaging, otherwise yeah a locksmith would’ve been better. But I had a good time grinding it open

I've never been impressed with their quality but I certainly never realized older Cold Steel stuff had some genuine value. Were the originals better quality with better Steel.

    • @lairdcummings9092

      @@1planters yes, the old Cold Steel knives were higher quality. I own several of the older blades, including one of the Recon Tantos seen here. The Blade takes a wicked-sharp edge. The sheath is well built and solid, but you risk cutting the security strap if you're not careful on the draw.
      I also own an original Trail Master from Cold Steel, and that puppy is one outstanding camp knife.

    The most valuable knife you have there is the older Cold Steel Recon Tanto. Back then they came with the nice leather sheaths. Might be able to get $150-$200 for it. (?). The Buck maybe $40-$50. Those Gerber folding sportsman’s sold new for about $20 in the late ‘70’s. The best thing about that is the sheath which is in great condition.
