I use grinders with wire wheels,cutting blades and grinding discs everyday at work and I've taken the the guard of a total of zero times if you have to take the guard of your using the wrong tool

True story... My AmeriCorps team 2009 went to New Orleans for Disaster Relief Trip and found an old safe in a damaged house. A couple sledgehammer hits and pry bars later we got in! What was inside was unreal... Nothing of value but some juicy info. There was a gun but along with the gun was a note, or a plea of not guilty. It was probably 1970s or so but It was about a man saying he didn't commit the crime and he was skipping town incase his family was looking for him. He must not have left them the combo and is rotting away in jail somewhere for a crime he claims he did not commit. :'(

Ok, skipping past the fact that you figured it would be easier to replace a grinder instead of the wheel... You do realise that you could have seriously injured, if not killed someone, right? That grinder wheel exploding could have shot shrapnel at you or someone else, that's not something you just laugh off while heading to Lowes to replace.
