Living with FASD is an educational and human interest show for those living with the effects of prenatal exposure to alcohol, their loved ones, and anyone interested in learning more about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, brought to you by someone with both professional and living experience with FASD.
In this episode of Living with FASD, we welcome back Dr. Jerrod Brown to discuss the critical issue of false confessions and their impact on individuals with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). Dr. Brown delves into the complexities of the criminal justice system, shedding light on how people with FASD are disproportionately affected. We explore the factors that contribute to false confessions, including cognitive impairments, lack of awareness among legal professionals, and the psychological pressures faced during interrogations. This is the first of a two-part series, with the next episode focusing on Miranda rights. Tune in for an eye-opening conversation that highlights the urgent need for systemic changes to protect vulnerable populations.

Patricia, this was an excellent interview with Dr. Brown. I am writing my doctoral dissertation pertaining to FASD, and he is the chairman of my committee. I could not do this without Dr. Brown's support and guidance. He is truly a subject expert and is a wonderful human being. Thank you Patricia and Dr. Brown.
