  • Daytona Beach - Severe Erosion After Hurricane Nicole
Daytona Beach is a city on Florida’s Atlantic coast. It’s known for Daytona International Speedway, which hosts February’s iconic Daytona 500 NASCAR race. The beach has hard-packed sand where driving is permitted in designated areas. Near the boardwalk’s rides and arcades, Daytona Beach Bandshell stages free summer concerts. Steps from the beach, Daytona Lagoon water park offers go-karts, laser tag, and waterslides.

I remember when these buildings were wayyyyy far from the water even at high tide. The ocean has risen and the beach has washed away. Looks so strange. We could park our cars on the beach with no fear the water would ever reach them. Time moves on and looks like it won't be long before the water rises Eve more and these buildings will be part of the ocean reefs.

It's not sea level rise it's erosion. Never should have built on barrier islands!

You took the words right out of my mouth. I said to my husband how bad the music was as I turned the volume down and read your comment.

Florida is surrounded by water with a shoreline at or below sea level mixed with rising seas is a recipe for flooding.

After Hurricane Charlie they put a barge out in the water sucked up the sand and blew back up on the shore that did this for about a year but it worked the shore line is better than ever now.

It's not an apocalypse It's called erosion. All you have to do is look at the Mississippi River, it changes every year from current flow and the rebuilds itself.

But it looks like alot of things were way to close to water the homes really need to be rebuild further back and then build up the the beach area, Fort Myers Beach can be fixed but this is going to a little more complicated

They will dredge and rebuild the beach. The oceans are not rising, it called erosion the earth has done this forever.
