Well said Paul. 🙂Probably stating the obvious, and perhaps the obvious isn't stated for good reasons, but in the case of educating parents and primary care givers etc. I feel it's important to educate and say things as they are. Society puts pressures on a male from a very early age. There is an expectation that a male should be tough, able to handle anything and everything, otherwise they aren't worthy to be male. This is why bullying can be particularly nasty for males as it's a direct attack on their masculinity and their validity of worthiness not only in their eyes, but also in the eyes of everyone who they value and feel has this same expectation of them.
With this in mind crying for help as they see it is a no, no which puts more emphasis on taking more direct, quicker and lethal approaches in doing the unthinkable. To try and fail could be deemed as a cry for help, or further proof that they aren't worthy to be male. It takes a particular state of mind to do such a thing, and there will be signs parents, care givers, etc. can pick up on. Withdrawal is one sign and also an availability of time for someone to condition them self and convince them self it's their only option. There is a need to educate the signs to look out for and perhaps there should be more focus on this. Healthy conversation (non-opinionated and non-judgemental) is the ability to keep a finger on the pulse of what thoughts are going through someone's mind and how to give valuable input to equip someone able to face all manner of life's challenges head on, rather than be the victim of them.
It's interesting guns were mentioned in this video. On a side note there seems to be an increase in mass shootings. Personally I see a link between that and those who have suffered bullying. Of course the media aren't about to say that in fear it might somehow show a different angle on things, but then brushing under the carpet potential triggers and causes for such things might not be progress either. As you rightly mentioned in this video Paul "understanding" and taking a genuine interest in people's welfare has got to be progress. In terms of "mental health" I think there should be more emphasis on getting people to be able to stand on their own two feet, self-reliant and competent in creating and maintaining healthy boundaries for themselves. Self-sufficient is also less of a need to be reliant upon mental health services etc. and able to tackle life head on... The offset to that of course is biological afflictions like schizophrenia, but even then someone self-assured and in the driving seat of their life has got to be more psychologically healthy and stronger than someone over-whelmed and susceptible to all manner of environmental factors...

John, I think you've summed it up perfectly. Thank you for your wisdom. Come to think of it, I believe I replied to another commenter mistakenly believing that was you. I thought it said John in my notifications 🤔 That's why I'm surprised to see this comment at this moment. My mistake, I guess. Anyway, I hope you're doing well, my friend.
