Jo as always such a great video, I enjoyed watching and really liked how easy you made the song to play. I’m still learning but this really was so great for me to follow you. Have a great weekend.
Jo I am a new subscriber I discovered you and I’m so glad that I did. I love the songs you have selected to teach and I love your teaching style. I need to learn timing, so counting it off the way you do is a tremendous help for someone like me to understand and to work in the strumming pattern within the count off is a lesson in itself, and much appreciated.
Ah thank you very much 😊 that’s made my day. I’m glad you’re getting some good use from the lessons. That’s always good to know. Yes, getting the feel for counting is priceless 👍
What a happy coincidence that I discovered your lessons today. I was a bit stuck....and getting a bit unhappy because my music was not flowing as I would like. I play accordion and strum a little on the piano. The guitar is always within reach here and suddenly I discovered your lessons. I prefer fingerpicking, but your strumming lessons are very accessible and well structured. You speak slowly and that's a great added value, I don't like the frenetic teachers. And especially today on women's day being able to get lessons from you what a wonderful world it is.
Thanks. I use Elixir Acoustic 12s. I’ve used them for years and love the sound and feel. Bit more expensive but they last a lot longer 👍 amzn.to/4fnvYAh
Hi Jo, no sound from 3:00 in this vidéo. Sorry, because I miss the face-to-face guitar lesson, I was at the factory for my work. Next monday and tuesday, I'll be on holidays so I could have my guitar lesson, if you want to give me a new oppotunity, please ?
Hi Cyril, no sound issues here when I’ve watched it, I’ve asked a couple of other people to check it out too and all ok. Hope it sorts out for you. Sure, if you want to email me on jo@jobywaterguitartuition.com about lessons and hopefully we can sort out a time that works. I have no time on Monday or Tuesday next week though but message me and I’ll let you know my availability. Thanks 🎸
I've found that using the A as my bass and finger plucking up B,G,D fairly quickly, suits my deep out of tune voice and changed lyrics, and is far easier to play around the campfire with cold fingers and way too much alcohol in my system to remember strumming patterns🤣😂it works and nobody seems to notice... I see some want you to play a song through first and then give the lesson, I think you should keep the format you're using. ie; Chords, pattern, then full run through. (my humble opinion)
ah yes a simple playing style for alcohol - base situations is always needed. Even I have some of those! yes, I had a couple of comments but Im generally getting good feedback for the format so will stick I think. I do really appreciate your feedback so thanks for that. I did play around with playing some of the tune first but it didn't help at all in the retention so I've gone back to this format. What are your thoughts about playing the full tune? I've found that a lot of people don't ask for it and are happy with knowing the sections and small demos of sections/singing without playing the full tune. If I did play full tunes through I'd be making the vids another 3-4mins longer and I'm not sure it's necessary in a lot of cases. I'm interested in what you think if you don't mind.
@@jobywaterguitartuition If someone wants to hear the full song played and sung, then they should put Chris Isaak on. If someone wants to learn how to play along with Chris Isaak then coming to you first is the ideal way to do it. In my genre people tend to have second channels in which they talk about their gear. In a slightly different vein you could play/sing the whole song for students to play along to with you on the other channel. More work I know, but you have a good enough voice to carry it off and your guitar skills speak for themselves. Your lessons are really well put together and very well edited (like the pan away shots, patterns and half screen song breakdown), the structure is just right and well enough explained that anyone should be able to follow along. At 10 minutes you should easily get in everything you need, and retain your audience. Above all you have chosen to teach some banging classics, and not the same old tired Beatles songs. I would say at some point maybe teach the intro riff to this song too, sort of; "You've learnt the song, now let's step it up". Keep doing what you're doing, I learnt from a book and never once had a lesson so people should realise how lucky they are to have talent like you on the internet. I have other ideas, but this has gone on too long. If you're on FB look me up anytime, same name...you may like my photos if nothing else, lol.
@rialobran cheers, my thoughts exactly! I’ve got as a possibility doing a full play through channel too. Maybe later in the year. I want to focus on some decent teaching vids first. Cheers for the response. I’ll def come find you on Fb 👍

Hi Andre, Greetings!
What kind of strings do you like to use on your Taylor acoustic…they sound good
Thanks. I use Elixir Acoustic 12s. I’ve used them for years and love the sound and feel. Bit more expensive but they last a lot longer 👍 amzn.to/4fnvYAh
Thanks Jo! Always enjoyed this song, but I do not have a Chris Issac voice. 😅

What is string gauge you got here

Good morning
Good morning 👋😊
Are you from New Orleans?
I wish! Would love to go to New Orlean 😊
I just drop it down to Am, G, D and it's easier than trying to hit that barr chord all the time. And it's easier for me to sing but, that's just me
It’s good to have a version that works better for you. Thanks for sharing. That will be useful for others to know too 👍
Am, G and D is an easier option! Capo 2!
Thanks for sharing for those who would like the open chord/capo version. Its always good to have an alternative.
But that's not the song
Ei see you
🙏 thanks
