  • @projoeiii
    @projoeiii ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It’s possible for more than one team to win a trade. Blues definitely won. One Stanley Cup for a franchise that had never won in 50+ years is worth any trade. As a Blues fan I say that with certainty. I said (before they won) that IF they got a Cup they could go winless for five straight years and that’s ok. I got what I wanted (and won a $40 bet in Vegas that paid $1600) so yeah I’m good.
    Thompson could still make Buffalo a winner, and given your comments about how O’Reilly lost his love of the game I would love to see someone thrive in Buffalo. Also since you said how the trade is still evolving I’d love to hear when this one is updated (when Buffalo is relevant).
    Hope you’re enjoying O’Reilly. I miss him in STL, and I’m watching more Leafs streams with you because of (your passion) and the desire to see STL’s first Conn Smythe winner succeed.
    Enjoy the ride. However far it takes Toronto. I am signing “thank you” as I post this. Thank you for your passion, your love of the game, and everything you do to promote the greatest game on Earth.

      Thanks for ROR, actually he's performed as advertised. Even the LTIR didn't faze him. We know how great he was there and how revitalized the love of hockey in STL and now enjoying it with the Leafs.

    The Blues essentially gave up their 3rd line from the previous season to get O'Reilly. As a Blues fan, I was thrilled that Doug Armstrong pulled off this deal. O'Reilly has been everything the Blues could have hoped for both on and off the ice.

    • @IHateMyAccountName
      @IHateMyAccountName 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And then the cup 3rd line was Thomas-Bozak-Maroon. 2 cheap free agents and a team drafted player.

  • @craigtothec
    @craigtothec 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was so sad when the Avs got rid of O'Reilly. The story was that he wanted more money than Duchy was making to re-sign, and they weren't gonna do that for fear of insulting their star player (and probably some other cap issues at the time). Looking back, I think it's no question that ROR has had a much bigger impact for his teams in the NHL than Duchene, and I would love it if the Avs still had him. I do love me some JT Compher though, and didn't realize this is how the Avs got him.

  • @AEMoreira81
    @AEMoreira81 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This one should go way back…as in back to when Rick Martin was traded to Los Angeles in March 1981, with LA hoping Martin’s knees would cooperate. ROR sprouted a new branch from that trade tree.

    The trade broke at about 10:30 PM on June 30. O’Reilly was due to be paid a bonus on July 1. I always found that kinda fishy, especially with how his comments certainly rubbed management and ownership a certain way
    Tage is a baby giraffe and I’m not sure he ever hits his potential. We only got him because St. Louis didn’t budge on Robert Thomas or Jordan Kyrou. Ryan Johnson is gonna likely be a solid bottom 4 defenseman
