Mitred Parakeet roost South Miami, Florida

There are many escaped cage birds now present in south Florida and in California. Mitred Parakeets are one of the very successful parakeets that have now established themselves in Florida and California. There are about 200-300 birds at this roost, these birds continue to grow in numbers. They are found from Homestead Florida to at least as far north as Ft. Lauderdale Florida. The are also found in many cities of mostly southern California.
These birds are native to the south west part of South America.
