It was only called the LR3 in North America. Other markets got it as the Discovery 3, so essentially it was the third generation of the Discovery. There was also a Ford V6 offered in the LR3 in the US, I guess it was introduced after this MotorWeek publication.

The 4.0 V6 was introduced for the 2006 model year. It produced a few more hp and tq than in Ford applications
