Can you use this like a regular kick scooter after the battery runs out? How does it perform as a regular scooter?

  • @shaunbarnett2972
    @shaunbarnett2972 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Under load a battery will drop voltage instantly and if the battery meter is measuring voltage then you will get an apparent almost immediate drop in battery power remaining. It's not actually the case. The battery may still have plenty of power remaining in it, it's just a poorly designed battery meter. From an electronic engineer. The only accurate test of the battery power/life is to ride the scooter until completely exhausted. Near the end you will definitely notice a slowing/loss of power due to further voltage drop, this is most noticeable with lithium batteries which drop voltage incredibly quickly once starting to 'become flat'.

So in fast mode you killed the battery in less than a minute?

    • @TheFluffyDuck

Doctor Jack it's a voltage drop under load. That's all

    • @RealCatch22

I don't get it. Looked like the charge went from 100% to 0% in under a minute and under 1km travelled.

    • @Rishi45001

Well sir Crazy, typically lazy firmware engineers will simply poll battery voltage and associate that with a state of charge (SOC). This has its flaws, because while it is true that battery voltage is proportional to SOC its also has an inverse relationship with current. Batteries have a equivalent series resistance (ESR) and the more current you draw(like going full power in "fast" mode), the more battery voltage is going to droop thus the battery monitor thinks the pack is depleted. You see this effect everyday when you start your car and all the lights go dim/off.

    Great review.
    - Chest cam to review what it's like in challenging conditions... e.g. uphill, over paving with dimples etc great work.
    - Audio is clear throughout.
    - Uploaded in 4k all the way down. I use 1080p 30fps as that suits my 3220t cpu and 1080p LG IPS monitor.
    - Fantastic explanation of the benefits and cons of the scooter and also in relation to other scooters out there.
Just an FYI I will be commenting on a lot of your videos going forward as the more comments on your uploads helps you with regards to the youtube algorithms in making your channel more popular and better for ads etc.
Really thankful for the work you carry out on products in your studio and also the products that require you to go outdoors too.
Really great channel. Big thumbs up on the vid too. Thanks.

Piece of crap! I was having fun on my Zoom Stryder the first few months, then as I was going down a steep hill the hydraulic brakes quit working. This was a bit scary as I had to stop using the foot brake which is not very efficient by itself. Then when I got to the bottom of the hill I realized that my throttle no longer worked. So here I was over a mile away from home down a huge hill with a scooter with no power. So now nothing works, except the rear lights, which now will not shut off even when I power the scooter down. I sent an email regarding my problem to Zoom over a week ago and have not heard anything back from them. This was a very expensive scooter and now I have no idea how to fix it.

Hi. I've had the Zoom Stryder for over 2 years and I've had the EXACT same fault as you recently -- including the rear lights staying on. I've replaced a couple of parts but fault remains. Unit is dead (except for rear lights). Did you find out what caused the fault? What part was faulty? Only thing I can put it down to was having the unit on the charger for about twice (about 5 hours) the length of time needed to charge. Scooter was dead straight off the charger.

Because of the comments here about bad customer service, I tried to post a "review" on their website , which has only positive reviews. I wanted to express my concerns about buying from them. It didn't appear--fair enough, since it wasn't a real review---so I sent them an email to which they didn't reply. (But they did add me to their email list.) I wouldn't buy one of these unless I could get it from a local dealer who can repair it and do an exchange if it fails during the warranty period. But Their dealers are all in Singapore, and I'm in the U.S.

Awesome review man! Are the tires and brakes easy to buy and replace for the Stryder Zoom? I live in New York City and is still undecided between the Stryder Zoom, Ninebot Segway ES2 and the Xiaomi M365. I like The ES2 design the most but its slower than the Stryder Zoom and the Xiaomi M365. I weigh 160 pounds and plan to ride about 7 miles a day. I read the Xiaomi M365 has issues with the brake noise and the tires constantly get flats and is hard to replace. Any suggestions? Thank you

I have one of these scooters and it worked for a few months then things started to fall apart, it wouldn’t turn on all of the time and the throttle wouldn’t work. The company sent me a new screen which seemed to fix the issue with the scooter turning on ( I note that the video they sent on how to do this was in Chinese and was so poorly made you couldn’t follow what the guys were doing). but the throttle still won’t work. I have emailed the company 20 times about the throttle but they never respond so I needed to order a new scooter from another company cause no one knows how to fix it and the company is ignoring me Worked great until it stopped working and don’t expect the company to care even if it’s under warranty. What a waste

it the same scooter as the Etow : the computer s screen was not reliable and was broken after a few use only, the little speed plastic didn't have the spring anymore and couldn't move automatically up and the electricity block adapter got fire. when electricity plugged I saw electricity going down to the scooter as well each time with a little noise in the contact. I got 2 different model of the Etow... they look similar as this one in this video.

This is a complete knockoff of a E-twow/Uscooters model that was sold years ago and they are in the process of getting them shut down. I had a big dilemma to buy either the m365 or this one. I chose the Stryder, although it's really expensive for my pocket.
Here is what made me buy it instead of the Xiaomi M365:
I considered it would really last me long - the build design looks unbreakable, everything is very straight to the point.
Pavements in my city are mostly shitty, Xiaomi is without suspension. It's battery seems to start rattling about and battery connectors tend to break. Also it has a PLASTIC battery bottom cover - wtf? I would also have to replace its tires to airless ones, but that would increase all impacts significantly. Therefore, in time it's steering bar starts to rattle. Some people say the electronic controller went bad too. I just don't think its going to last me 5 years. Stryder on the other hand seems it would last even more than that.
One more factor was the charging time - 1.5hours for Stryder is srsly impressive. I can charge it up 50% when lazily-drinking coffee in some cafe for 45min and get +10km.
Lastly, it deals with hills better and is a bit faster.
I mean yeah.. you pay more, but within good reason. Can't wait for it to arrive, maybe I'll do a review myself. See if what I initially thought was right.

JogAlong i got both + ninebot es2.. Xioami m365 is much better.. Xiomi M365 got 1000w motor. and u can use 850w firmware safely to run it and its got lot more power than zoom (and Zoom 30km/h in reality is only 25km/h) Xiaomi got better tires, very Smooth ride. Xiaomi + LG 7200mah battery is better quality. Xiaomi hands Up much better
Whit Xiaomi and 850w there is no hill i cant drive.. its so much faster than Zoom.. even my son whit zoom 55kg vs me whit Xiaomi 85kg i win him easyly. So dont lie if u dont know the truth both of those escoots
      and xiaomi got Bluethoot
u can update u ride, or u can instal better firmware whit more power.
or look usefull information using u phone.. Its so much better than zoom(Zoom= Eu E-twow)

    • @jogalong
      @jogalong 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

First of all I'm not lying or anything, everything is based on my research. It's my money, so I would only be fooling myself right?
All I found was that xiaomi m365 had 250W motor (500W peak). That was a concern for me. Now I'm like fuck... how come they don't mention this. I found what you were saying only by searching "Xiaomi m365 1000W" within unofficial sources. I did see some hacks previously for Xiaomi FW, but people complained that its unstable or smth. Though, the true power is a reasonable factor that I didnt know about. Anyway my main concern was that it would last me long and I found quite some people complaining about the Xiaomi in that regard.
About the tires, we have shitty pavements here, and Xiaomis are inflatable which get easily punctured/worn and I dont want to have that hassle.
Bluetooth - well yes, its a nice feature for Xiaomi, but do I really need it? No. I just want to see the speed/battery/distance. And I don't want to take my phone out of pocket everytime and fit it there. Also, it can be damaged if the scooter falls over or smth. It's fancy but not practical imho.
In general its just that I don't see Xiaomi lasting me too long. I just feel that I can be way more careless with the Stryder due to its rigid build quality. But, yeah - I haven't received it yet, so will see the reality and report back in.
Just FIY, Stryder is locked at 25kmh, you have to perform a procedure to unlock full speed.

Any different in range compare to Turbo mode? 2) You shown us how to set to Turbo mode but how to set back to eco mode? Is it just follow the same step? Thanks.

I own the newest Booster V so have done all the reseach . I can tell you guys for a fact the Zoom is the knockoff of E-twow/Uscooters Booster version that they sold a 3 years ago. It is an outdated model which does not even come close to comparing to the new Uscooters/E-twow Booster V or S+ which both have 36v batteries not 33v. You will never get service or warranty help as they are sold out of Singapore from a Chinese factory that just started making scooters a year ago. E-twow has been making scooters for the past 7 years with worldwide sales of over 250,000 scooters. Do your research I learned my lesson. The new Booster V can hit speeds in excess of 24 mph and get really great ranges as I have one and know it. Uscooters is just the brand name for the United States for E-twow. Whoever reviewed this should contact Uscooters and do a review on theirs as it is so much better a product.

the only thing impressive about this scooter is its weight.....10kg is the lightest iv ever seen for a scooter that goes 30kmh and 30km range(without stating battery cap).....price is absolutely ridiculous.....a scooter like this wouldnt go for more than $550 sgd in my country....its retailing at $890 sgd.....99 percent of escooters are made in china.....97 percent of them are just clones of each other with different paintjobs, slightly different alterations, modifications and different brandnames slapped on it but the frames more or less is the same.....this front wheel motor hub with pneumatic back tyre design is pretty common....but this one has a solid tyre which is good because pneumatic tyres encounter flats very easily....
escooters are very cheap nowadays, for SGD $450 range(330 USD) u can easily get one with 500 watt motor,36v 15ah battery,40 to 60km range,50km/h top speed(only things that matter in escooters are engine power, battery capacity(range) and top speed, everything else is trivial).....which i suspect are better specs than what this scooter can do....with the only drawback being a slightly heavier weight of 16kg.....for $800 to SGD $900 range i would expect a powerhouse of at least 48v 21 ah battery 1000w motor possibly even dual hub motors 60 to 70km top speed and 70 to 80km range.....

This scooter is not even close to the most powerful or fastest scooter in the market right now. There are many models with speed above 35 km/h and motor power 500W or 1000W, with distance range up to 100 km. Have you tried Joyor? Joyor X5S? Joyor Y5S, Joyor Y8/Y10?

Mmm brakes didn't help. Tried to swerve didn't work as well. I ended up hitting a bush at maybe 25 km/h and flew forward. Got all right leg's skin layers lying on the ground, the muscles on my fingers (some) popped out a bit and worst headache for a week. Don't think of trying . I was about to die

The Xiaomi is a design winner, and it is very easy to see why next to this one. So they have put many functions into the Zoom, but the ride seems bad because of the slippery hard wheels + it is not very silent. Lower handlebars....12-13 year old on one of these? I do not think these are meant for kids. 30km/h for a 12 year old is just irresponsible.

So i finally got it, its actually pretty good. i weigh about 90kg+10kg with backpack and this scooter is able to carry my up to 29kph. it was able to maintain its speed of 27kph on 10-20% charge capacity on flat roads.I tested the mileage of this scooter and i got about 17km from 1 charge, as for hills i tested it on a 20% grade and it goes at about 19kph on it. Im happy with it at the moment, i previously owned another electric scooter which is the ZERO/JACKHOT/NEXT DRIVE LIGHT the carbon fiber scooter and i hated it, it doesnt go as fast as this one, it has no suspension(which is a must if your buying one trust me!!) and overall battery consumption is bad. I haven't owned any ETWOW brand scooter before so i dont really know how to compare this with that, but i recommend this scooter if your looking for a commuter electric scooter.

What else can I do goto Singapore I guess, but then that may not answer the door.

Yes it's a very thorough review but I think you should put your weight in the down bar not only in European so but in American poundage that is if you want to reach the United States of America but if you don't care about United States of America don't bother. But if it matters to you what the USA thanks then put in your weight as well as how long a single charge at an average weight of a woman and a man in the USA would get as well as doing a little bit of math and translating how many miles somebody who is less than 150 lb would get in a single charge when a bill is going to rain etcetera the point is if you want to reach people in the USA and please put your weight European and in the down bar as well as European and United States of America miles. Just face it, you know he he he and feet, I'm sure it's a lot more fun to be European and pretend to ignore us American girls and our poundage, but if you want to reach us and get an American audience to a little bit of work a tiny bit of work to get us interested in to feet..
In the down bar otherwise word you stupid to care about your review just here to help
