    Way too many broken parts to give it the positive review you did. I understand they paid for the video but will a buyer have the same customer service support you did? I think you should have just canceled the video after all the broken pieces. Also, at 1:51 you peel off the screen protector which was protecting a totally scratched up screen from the factory? Totally unacceptable.

    Wow, this e-scooter actually checked all boxes on what I want from an e-scooter until I saw the last part of the video. Those manufacturing defects is a huge deal breaker for me especially the mechanical defects like the locking bolt and the steering bearing. Those defects can get someone killed.

    • @yoboyjohn6411

      i think if he didn't do jumps and off road the scooter would be fine and for the locking bolt it needs to be stronger

    This is a feature I've been waiting for on ALL two wheel vehicles (motorcycles, scooters, bicycles...). It doesn't make sense to have either traction in one wheel only, you need both.

    I purchased my CityRover S5 in 2018. I've had fun riding around my neighborhood or local parks. However in December it stopped charging. I ordered a replacement charger from CityRover which arrived in early January of this year. When I plugged it in, the charger LED stays green instead of red. I've contacted CityRover support but due to the time difference between the USA and China, it takes forever for them to reply via chat. And before it ran out of power, my front suspension started having problems. Not sure I'd recommend it from my recent issues and seeing these other comments. Hopefully CityRover support will fix it. Otherwise I'm stuck with a broken e-scooter!

    Ben, how do you think the dual 250w motors compare to your previous favorite Zoom Stryder with a single front wheel 500w hub motor? Would love to see a head to head comparison on a 25% grade to see which one is more efficient.

    • @AuthenTech
      @AuthenTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's a great question. I like the larger tires on the Zoom, but dual hub motors are faster and offer more powerful torque. If only we could merge the too! (That'd be the perfect model ;)

    Hi. Personally I wouldn't do stunts with this scooter. It's a commuter scooter not a dirt scooter and this could be why the steering broke on this one. It would probably be reliable if treated gently without stunts/jumps etc.

    • @QinsanJSC
      @QinsanJSC 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aha, John, thank you for your suggestion, i also think so .If we treat it gently , then life span will be much longer. While to make small jump to corss bumper, it's ok .Aha ,Aha. After all , it's a ride, it's so weak, then we can not let it be in the market, after, safety always comes first

  • @loganborja158
    @loganborja158 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, can you advise if the battery resides inside the carbon fiber chassis or inside of the board? do we know if either of the wheels are modular? Similar design models have the front wheel tires with dedicated wires fastened to the wheel, making it difficult to maintain in the long run since older models have those wires running up the front chassis.

  • @ptchan5

    Very nice. Ordered one to sample myself. Ben, do you think the display, front wheel stripping, and locking mechanism were manufacturing defects or just poor quality that is part of the design?

    • @AuthenTech
      @AuthenTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm really hoping it was just poor QC, but kinda strange multiple things broke. I understand I'm a bit extra "rough and tough" on these to 'stress-test' for my viewers, but normally you'd hope they stand up through it all. I hope you have fun on it!

    My one problem with this scooter seems to be the quality and durability. This thing aint cheap, is kidna sad how low quality some of the parts seem to be (with how many things broke on you). If they fix some of those issues this thing looks fantastic.

    Hi ben, would you recommend the CityRover S5 over the Zoom Stryder you also reviewed? They seem to both have similar specs from a power and range perspective. However, it looks like the S5 had some reliability issues? I'm looking to buy one, but not sure which...

    • @AX5Terminator
      @AX5Terminator 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eddie Battikha yeah I'm stuck deciding between the S5 and the Zoom Stryder Ex Edition myself. I need something that can tackle hills and I think the dual motors can do a better job, but the bigger wheels and dual suspension on the Zoom is very tempting. Plus the Zoom from his testing seems more sturdy and durable. Did you end up choosing one or the other?

    i owned swagtron, just purchased recently and the battery life suck, I put the speed level to 3 and max is 5. And charged full, I brought this to school and use it round trip about 1 mile and the battery already drop 60%. Planning to get ninebot es1 by segway

    • @AuthenTech
      @AuthenTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me know how that one goes!

    • @jliverty
      @jliverty 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      honestly, the scooter runs well. I have a high expectation that 15mph is not enough. I ride it today and actually, it runs pretty well. It able to achieve 15mph when you turn the speed level to 5 (max level). However I during the flat surface and long road I put the speed level to 3 ( around 10-11 mph ) and the battery drop about 40% round trip and not even 2 miles round trip ( the scooter is fully charged and I spent about 30 minutes round trip ). I'm planning to get ninebot es1 for my daily commute from parking to class, to the library instead of using swagtron, cause my main goal to be able to use this scooter for couple years from now without having this battery problem. This is good scooter from swagtron, but they really need to improve the battery quality and capacity.
      The weight of this scooter I believe less than 20lb which is reasonable for anyone to carry on for short distance.

      Yes - I know what you mean about the road surfaces. Once my right hand was ripped of the handle in a fraction of a second hitting a sharp well in the road. Nearly shit myself. Luckly my left hand was hanging on. 20 mph on this scooter is quick! Don't blame you restricting it again!

    Build quality on the steering column is not great. A few users including myself have had problems with it. Comes loose at the join just above the wheel. You end up turning the handlebars and the front wheel stays straight. I have been in touch with City rover and have nothing but broken promises regarding replacement parts for the last two months. Can't recommend it on that basis. Otherwise a great scooter for hills and speed.

    In my opinion, scooter with this much power and small 5,5 inch hard rubber tires, is pretty dangerous to ride. You have to watch on every single bump or hollow. Otherwise you could easily be thrown off the scooter. I have other model with 6,5 hard rubber tires, and 250w power motor, and still have to be careful riding. And its not so much comfortable. I would definitely recommend bigger tires with air, like Xiaomi.

What normal person would want to, or be able to fix these issues let alone the many you listed. At least you didn't hide the negatives, but honestly you should have given them their sponsor money back and stated this scooters a POS, would have done better for your reputation.

    This is what you get when a supplier sends you a freebie - A biased, barely critical, review... At 5:47 "...thankfully they were very generous"??? Dude, a bearing sleeve failure on a new machine is a critical fault.... This is were an impartial reviewer (ie somebody who actually paid for the product) would have said something like: "There are just too many design and manufacturing defects - stay away from it..."

    Poorly built have had mine sent off to be fixed 5 times. The suspension is utterly a joke mine has snapped multiple times. It needs much much much more solid suspension if you go over a crack in the path it’s enough to break. Very poor build quality. I wish I didn’t get mine. It needs to have tougher and I mean WAY tougher suspension build quality in the front and it needs it in the back. My personal view and recommendation would be to stay far away and buy something more robust.

Good review execution but bad concept of accepting sponsorship and monetary link affiliation of a poorly crafted beta product, doing so blurs the lines between genuine honest reviews and ad-disguised-in-review-form. Excellent review, but .. 5:09 LMAO .. start with this stuff next time. It's crap now and needs more engineering. And if I hear that's preproduction crapola .. I'll puke, that's a typical Chinese response.

    Dual wheel is good but this scooter is shite... the tiny wheels look deadly. If you hit ANYTHING, you're coming off.
