I mean this can save lots of lives a lot of people don't want help when they live on a abusive family of course they tell you to not help them but you need to help them if you can even if they don't ask for it?
You know, I’m starting to wonder if “princess of friendship” is MLP’s way of saying Twilight is Equestria’s diplomat. She does end up reaching out to other nations forge bonds. And making Pinkie Pie an “ambassador” to the Yaks is pretty smart when you take a minute to imagine how the rest of the Mane 6 interacting with the Yaks would go down
Honestly, sending Applejack would've resulted in a better lesson at the end. She could've built on top of her lesson from when her family spent Hearth's Warming Eve with the Pie family, and she would've been much better equipped to remove all the snow the yak way. Sure, it's inefficient, but they're doing fine, all things considered, so whatever they're doing isn't hurting them, at least.
now that you say it, montages set to royalty free stock music being where the important stuff happens is one of the most annoying things about the late seasons
The message should be "Help someone if you can see that they need it, even when they directly decline it." (Applebuck Season did basically this in Season 1!) If the yaks were going to starve and die, then help them. If it's not life-threatening or dangerous, leave them alone.
I realize this episode didn't do a good job of teaching it's lesson, but it still seems like people miss what the writers meant to say. You should help someone who is in need even if they don't ask for it. But I agree, if you ask to help them and they say no, then let them be. It just depends on how you approach the situation.
5:46 i'd like to speak about this sin from personal experience! I have a friend who conpletely always refuses help with anything so they don't seem weak and dependant. Just yesterday i heard them tell me that they actually hope people helped them but just does not wish to admit and ask for it. But is still extremely relieved when someone helps them. Maybe not a sin afterall!
Yeah, this is one of the most ambiguous and gray morals. What I got is that wounding the Yaks' pride by getting them to admit that they needed help would be just aa much of a disaster as being snowed in. So, to save their face and allow them to keep their pride, the ponies helped them "secretly." BUT, because they had to deliver the moral, and patch things up between Rutherford and Pinkie, the Yaks _do_ know it was the ponies who helped them, thus ruining the moral.
Stars within the dark space of the moon is _such_ a pet peeve of mine. I can't tell you the amount of games I've played where when it becomes night-time, I'll just stop and glare at the moon move across the night sky, waiting to see if they've got it right or not.
Honestly, what Rutherford said at the end doesn't make any sense:so yaks didn't ask for help and didn't actually wanted it, but Pinkie helped them anyway, and we find out at the end that "this is actually the yak way", but if she didn't helped them, doesn't that mean that she respected their wishes and culture?
I didn't even remember this episode, to be honest. Yeah, yaks are... complicated, but Yona is worth it. 2:55 I can't believe you made this joke, and I also can't believe I laughed at it, even though it's the most overused Pinkie Pie joke ever.
"Help someone even when they explicitly tell you not to, and that your 'help' will only complicate things." I feel like the US has done that, and it hasn't exactly worked out well.
I think they were trying to show a scenario where the help was warranted; Rutherford was willing to let the Yaks die instead of hurt his/their pride. In instances like that, helping _is_ a good thing. Talking someone out of committing Sue-is-side is never frowned upon. The problem was more how they went about it, what with Rutherford not admitting that he had a problem that he couldn't solve. How much better would it have been if he had admitted that the Yaks needed help, and we spent the second half of the episode with the two races working together and sharing their talents, tips, and tricks with one another.
"Not Asking For Trouble" is one of the weakest Pinkie Pie episodes in my opinion, And the reason why I think that is mainly because of the lesson of the episode. I mean forcibly helping people who decline help isn't exactly a good lesson. But other than that, It's an interesting episode, Both because we got to see the Yaks again and we got to see what Yakyakistan is like for the very first time. And I was happy that they made Pinkie Pie an honorary Yak in the end
It's more of a mixed bag lesson, because while, yes, under most circumstance if someone declines help it's best to leave them be... sometimes it can also be important to recognize when someone not only desperately needs help and maybe even actually wants help, but their pride or stubbornness is getting in the way of them asking.
Let's be honest, if Pinkie tried to fly because of being around pegasi too long, she'd just be flying because she tried because Pinkie Pie is Pinkie Pie. Don't question it
This episode I thought was pretty good if only because I enjoy the worldbuilding it brought and Pinkie Pie was really funny playing the straight mare to the yaks. I also think the moral is understated in how true it is that people are too prideful for their own good and there's no shame in asking for help. This was learned as early in Applebuck Season after all. So though in most contexts, I'd agree the moral was bad, I'd disagree here because there's a lot more nuance regarding the importance respecting how others may not be willing to ask for help while having a code of ethics that demand helping people in need. And at least here compared to A Friend in Deed, the yaks and Pinkie were already on good terms as opposed to Cranky never wanting anything to do with Pinkie from the start. Agreed over the royalty free music being less than desirable though. Come on... Winter Wrap Up is right there...
I feel like a better lesson and a better way to write the episode would be to go with "Sometimes you gotta know when to put your pride aside and ask for help."

To the people talking about the moral and how it could be done better it already was. Keeping up A-fear-ances from The Owl House. It just teaches the exact opposite message. Acting like you know better than someone else is harmful in almost all situations.

Bless you. Drive by text and jokes like these are the bane of my TH-cam existence, I always have to try to catch all of them by pausing a million times. Thank you so much for doing it for me.
@@psychotophatcatYou're welcome! And if you want advice it's way easier to catch these when putting the video at 0.25 speed. You can change the video speed by tapping the lil' gear in the top right of the vid.
@@absolea4676 Thank you, I've done that before and still managed to miss some people's flash text. I try not to linger on it too much or I'll spend three times the length of the video looking at quick jokes lol
One month closer to finishing the series... IN THE YEAR 3000
Shoulda added a counter for how many times they said YAKK in the episode 😝
I hate and like this episode, mainly because pinkie shows responsibility and the serious emotions more and i like that
The joke about pinky being inspired by pegasi was kinda true cus theres a theory she was based off a suicidal girl who jumped off a rooftop. Huh.
[Questions in Ponk]
Ehhh I still think this ep is ok vs the one (forgot its name) where pinkie tries to go to Yakyakistan again, only to get to the gate and slide all the way back down. That had me wondering how much time we wasted on that B-plot so much so, I've actually forgotten the A-plot.
Long live Prince Rutherford - the greatest male character of the show!
Nice! Keep it up
im so ready for you to do season 8 episode 18
To the people talking about the moral and how it could be done better it already was. Keeping up A-fear-ances from The Owl House. It just teaches the exact opposite message. Acting like you know better than someone else is harmful in almost all situations.
Why do I not remember this episode
Why does the comment section look so weird
when you realise the pony's can't actually see rainbow dashes colours 😵
When you realize they don't actually have wings or magic...
(insert sarcastic joke about how it's a cartoon)
@@theAstarrr 🙄
Man, you're so good at spotting these sins. But how do you do it? I'm not as good as you are.
My strategy is simply watching an episode over and over and writing the script over the course of a couple weeks. I don't think I could do it if it were any other show!
This is interesting… . Nice
Red pony wrong, yaks BEST!!
Yona alone makes yaks great
Season 1: AJ learn that she must sometimes put her pride aside and accept to ask for help
Season 7: Not asking for help out of pride is okay???????
Eh the yaks are back🥳
Hello Littleshy, since I know you're an og brony, I wanted to ask
What does it take to make the bronies recap for 2023
I'm not sure what you mean. The Top 25 pony videos of the year is coming up soon, and for the past couple years that's been a curated process with Jhaller and I. Feel free to contact me on Discord or email if you wanted to chat.
@@LittleshyFiM ahh k let me clear things up a bit
I asked a few other bronies who have made the recap for previous years and no one replied, since my only other form of contact is instagram, I thought I'd ask you, since I know you've collaborated with others before so you might know something about it
Yona is Best Pony.
On another note, does swearing in the description enough to protect the video from a MFK flag?
Probably not, but it's worth a try.
@@LittleshyFiM Hm, true that. Hooves crossed
wish we could have more than once a month
amazing
Everything is wrong with this episode because the yaks are in it
Sometimes I forget how bad the Yaks are before Yona…
Ah yes, Not Asking for Trouble. The start of truly great Cinemare Sins episodes, and also when the show actually gets good. Shame it only took what, 10 years though.
I like Yona but the yaks in general are pretty annoying
I like Yona too she's the only yak I liked. I don't like the other yaks.
Its unlisted and i'm already watching this!?...OPEN UP YOUR EEEEEYYYESSS

You found the secret pony video portal
Pinkie Pie is just naive
This was the only episode of the show I ever put in x2 playback speed while watching 😂
the yaks are easily the most annoying species to be introduced. i have seen every episode of mlp at least once, and have no intention of ever rewatching any of the yak episodes (yona doesnt count, yona is wonderful and the singular good yak character in the show)
whoah
