- Installing sidesteps or siderails on my new Nissan Xterra Pro-4X. Did research before and found it was relatively easy so posting this video if others want to see how it went for me before they do the same.
Thanks for posting this video, you saved me a chunk of change. I recently bought a 2014 Xterra. I bought it off the lot without step rails. When it came time for the first oil change and tire rotation I asked for a quote from the dealer on installing step rails (along with the oil change and tire rotation). The dealer told me $790 for the step rails and installation (did not include the oil change and tire rotation). My friend sent me a link to this video and I flipped. The rails are $230, so the dealer wanted to charge $560 for what amounts to one hour of work! Just to make sure I asked a different dealer for a quote and they wanted $375 for the installation. Still ridiculous for an hours work. Thanks to your video I was able to do it myself in one hour and twenty three minutes. Also, I found a pretty good local mechanic for the oil change / tire rotation. No more dealership thieves! Thanks again.
It only to me 15mins to install it for my buddy. It was free. I just got the 2015 Pro 4x few weeks ago. I'm already debating to get a Rock Slider instead.
Great video. The "gate " thing threw me for a few minutes until I saw the little ridge strip and figured the same as you and put it against the vehicle. If we are wrong then there are at least two of us that are! Now for the tow hitch and harness...

If u r a heavy off roader, I advice not to install them, also, remove the mud/splash guards too, otherwise they will be damaged..
My Xterra came with these pre installed, and while I was off road in a little rocky area, the side step got hit by a rock and got damaged..

good choice to have an xterra, plus, good job :)
Nerf bars are great for stepping in and out, but be careful, don't use them as rock sliders or they'll damage the body of your car.

Nice. I just got a 2010 Xterra Off-Road and it does not have the side step rails, so after seeing this, I ordered them from Courtesy Nissan online and they will be here Tuesday. How is your Xterra doing these days? I had a 2001 that was totaled last month and just got the 2010 this week to replace it. My 2010 is in pretty good shape and it was a good deal on it. So far I'm loving the new one it's much improved over my old 2001.

Wonder if they just sell the brackets. I just found a used Xterra but the brackets have rusted pretty good.
I want to remove the ones on mine lol! Stock height isn't really high and I never use these to get in and out.

How do u know wich is the left side and the right side do u go by the front or back ?
where did you buy your side rails, most places that sells they only include 2 brackets per side, I think 3 is much better. Thanks
+el zorro These are the genuine Nissan side rails. From what I've seen the after-market ones have only two brackets. But like you I prefer three.
What kind of video camera do you use?
What size are the nuts that go onto the bolts? M10 metric?
