- Miriam Quiambao tripped during the preliminary evening gown competition in the 1999 Miss Universe Presentation Show. She didn't lose her poise and composure and made a quick recovery that earned the applause of an admiring audience.
Miriam eventually finished as 1st RU during the pageant finals.

i strongly argue that because of MIRIAM QUIAMBAO falling on stage during catwalk is no longer an issue on beauty pageants. miriam quiambao transformed falling on stage as a sign of failure to being a sign of strength and power as the woman rises from the fall. MIRIAM QUIAMBAO CHANGED THE FACE OF MISS UNIVERSE ACTUALLY. she's a trail blazer. Olivia Culpo, Pia Wurtzbach: they tripped in the long gown but won the crown.

The classiest if not the best ever miss u phl in evening gown. She exudes unbelievable elegance and command that a fault like this cant seem to hurt her performance as she's astoundingly magnetic. She's smashing the scoreboards during the pageant despite no attention has ever been paved yet for her by past phl delegates prior her time. She's just on a much distinct league on her own. I truly salute Meriam for being our earlier miss u she never was.
She's one of the unforgettable MU Philippines representative...She deserves the crown ,title and sash as Miss Universe.Same with Our Miss Universe Philippines Janine...They were robbed of those titles.... But, both ladies show the Universe that they are the Miss Universe title holders that really made mark on MU history....

Miriam fell and became the 1st runner-up, the highest ranking we reached in Miss Universe during the '90s. Pia tripped off and won the crown in 2015 after years of us only being runners-up, both happened during the evening gown competition! I could remember that Ms Mirriam Quiambao was the first runner-up in our Bb. Pilipinas that time. She assumed the post when our MUP winner couldn't make it. Cannot remember who the winner was then. Was she Anjanette Abayari or someone else?, Can't remember really. And Ms. Mirriam raised our flag up high. That's destiny.

Nasa office ako noon nagwwork habang nakikinig ng FM music when a breaking news came in at sinasabing ang representative natin sa Miss Universe ay na dethrone na officially at ang ipapalit ay si Miriam Quiambao, alam nyo ba, nagtatatalon ako sa tuwa mag isa, kasi, si Miriam talaga ang only choice ko noon sa Binibini for the Miss Universe title, although napunta sa kanyang title ay originally Miss World, mas gusto ko pa rin sana siya sa Universe, at, yun na nga, talagang para sa kaniya ang title na Bb. Pilipinas - Universe. :-)
