I think of all the people that test drove the car, you are probably the most legit since you own a tacoma. Other drivers that drove the new tacoma will say this and that and don't even own a tacoma. I am glad toyota invited you!!
The new 2024 Tacoma is the rage right now. The rear cab and rear bed views look a bit like a Silverado, that angular look. Would like to see something about allocations. Many question the turbos, but that's what Toyota has to do to meet CAFE requirements. At least right now anyway they're going with turbos and hybrids and not straight EVs, that's a point in their favor. The cameras are nice, but you sill need a guide on the rough spots.
Well, I mean the old V6 had the fuel economy of V8 and the feel of a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder, so both slow and thirsty. This 4 banger turbo is a big step up in both power and mpg. As for going full EV, they still want to actually sell this thing, so they're not doing that for a while, even GM is sticking with next-gen V8s for at least the next decade.
Chole, great job! You’ve found your niche in life and wish you much success and happiness. I think this new Tacoma will be my first and I look to you for answers to my questions and you never let me/us down. Thank you.

I currently have a 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport and I am awaiting the arrival of my 2024 Off Road. It’s currently in production. I completely agree with you about the hood scoop on the TRD Sport decreasing your visibility. I didn’t even bother modding it for off-roading. I certainly have ideas for my Off Road model. My new Tacoma will have the premium package and the rear duff skid plate. It will have the 360 degree camera system with the terrain monitoring view. The wait to get my new truck is agonizing. It’s in the Blue Crush Metallic.
All I can say is, if you do decide to get a new taco, you should definitely get it in that solar octane color. Because there's just no way in hell you'll ever be able to miss it anywhere on Earth
Great review and insight! I really liked the Trailhunter, but wonder if the Off-Road would be the call. It appears to have all the features (and more) than I would ever need if I'm being realistic. The Trailhunter and Pro seems to be complete with all bells and whistles, so guessing the Off-Road would be the call if there are some upgrades you would like to add at your own leisure.

Not a fan of the body lines. The way the roof angles over to the bed is bad. We buy Tacomas because they’re Tacomas. Main reason why I went with the 23’ off-road MT. I would have stayed with Chevy if I wanted a square box. And going away from a V6 and only have a 4 cylinder is a deal breaker I don’t care about the power or performance of a turbo. It’s an expensive thing to fix when it breaks. I’m sure it’s a cool truck but not for me. I like my trucks straight forward and simple. Too much technology is killing the truck market.

(yeah, i can twist around to get a view but it is still annoying to have that huge block of blind spot there. also; from my typical vantage point the rear view mirror creates a blind spot that almost always blocks part of my view of the road ahead. for taller drivers it would make more sense to position the rear view 'mirror' lower on the windshield (to block my view of the hood instead of the much more valuable view of the road). - this seems almost a 'no brainer' with the switch to a camera view from the mirror. I am looking forward to seeing how the new camera system improves visibility. Love the Tacoma but this is my one big complaint; I've got over 600k miles in various 'Tacoma's' (starting with a 1990 Hi-Lux Xcab which is basically the Tacoma before the name change); a 2000 Tacoma SR5/Access Cab and my current 2016 Double Cab/TRD Sport. The new 360° camera system looks like a very promising improvement.
Toyota’s rarely recommend premium. Almost no cars require it any more with electronic ignition, they have ping sensors and if ping is even slightly detected the timing automatically gets retarded. Performance suffers a bit, but since it is so rare I wouldn’t pay the extra cost for premium fuel in any vehicle.
Hybrid engine models not out yet. This is just the better 4 cyl turbo. New Hybrid models come out in spring of 2024 so around March or April next year should see tests and more info.

my 10 year old daughter can close the tailgate on my 2018 tacoma with one hand......for 2024 the tailgates are made of aluminum, and NOW you have to pay for electric open and close tailgates?
I was so excited about upgrading until I seen how much Toyota is asking for a loaded trd offroad. In Canada that will cost over $70 000 cad, that’s mafia pricing…. My 2023 trd off-road was $57000 after taxes
I think you have the wrong info or are exaggerating. The pricing list I seen the other day in Canadian dollars was 51 grand for a double cab trd off road (non premium) this is approximately 3 grand more than the current models . I don’t think that’s terrible when you factor in all the new technology and added features as well as more power and efficiency.
But then again the 3G taco was very old so it didn’t cost as much to build it. The new one is completely new from the ground up, with even new engines. It was never going to be cheap
