Hey guys, these are some of my favorite picks for hearing protection! I’ve been getting a lot of requests to share which products we use and have stood the test of time. Love to know which style you guys use, earmuffs or headphone style! Lmk down below 👇
Hey Brian, just so you know isotunes offers replacement earbuds that are slightly different in design that comes with them. I ordered extras, they are a 3 tiered rubber insert verses a 2 tiered that come in the original package. I use them for 6 to 8 hours a day and they are super comfortable. I have the pro's and xtra's and was able to get a few guys that I work with hooked on them also
Mostly the muff style but have recently been trying out the thin plastic band style that loops either behind or in front of your neck with foam earbuds.
I Love my 3M WorkTunes with Bluetooth and AM/FM. I am a Big and Tall guy with a Massive Head and they fit very comfortably and able to answer calls with them on is another plus.
GREAT timing on the video topic. Thankful you do these vids. I'm surprised you'd discuss ANYthing with wires, though. Also disappointing that you didn't mention the dB protection of each product. 3M definitely has a Bluetooth Worktunes. Pros: they have good tune sound, better dB protection, Cons: you can't take a phone call with them (no mic), they're hot in the summer, and don't work with a brimmed hat (an increasing concern of mine. I invested in some ISOtunes mid-season this year and was really happy with the sound and dB protection. My disappointment with them is that I feel like I need to take them on and off as I'm driving and I hate refitting them each time. One of the things that I wish I noticed in the reviews is how frequently you need to replace the spongy ear parts. Mine wear out in about 3 days of sweaty mowing. I can stretch them out to 5 days, but then they don't fit as well and the dB protection is not as good. In the heat of Summer it puts me in a position where I'm paying about $15 a month for replacement pads. Cool, but not cool. Again, awesome topic and vids. Thanks Brian!
Joseph Killeen all great tips and points thanks for weighing in! And yeah replacing the tips is vital but that’s on any earbud style headphone. Unless it’s the hard plastic AirPod style, but those hurt after a few hours for me. When I’m in and out, I usually just wear my Peltor headcans, like you said, no fuss no muss!
Thanks for being blunt about hearing protection. Young guys typically ignore it. I even see people running cement saws with bare ears. Im in my 50s. The ringing in my ears is louder than background music in a store. And I used protection a lot. Poor plugs and skipping ear protection here and there is the problem. Double up with ear plugs and muffs.
Construction just became a problem on our street. I'm off of work Monday o Wednesday only part timer and I have autism spectrum with loud noise just seeing the site of bull dozers parked near by give me anxiety. I also have anxiety too when it comes to construction people. Waking up every day to annoying bulldozers and jack hammer piston bozers. Seem our situation will never end. Hope these help as well as me having white noise makers in my room. Plus air conditioner.
Brian, thank you for reviewing these hearing protection and audio head sets. I like the Work Tunes as far as sound deadening, but the radio was a huge disappointment in that the AM band was unusable due to a constant tone covering up the audio on just about every station, while the FM reception lacked sensitivity and pick-up unless the stations were nearby. The aux connector required a signal much greater than what most phones or MP3 players put out to drive the earphones. Maybe I just got a bad unit. I'd like to hope Work Tunes is vastly improved since the pair I bought in 2012. Oh, and there was this irritating auto-shutoff feature after about an hour on the job, no Bluetooth, and would have rather had a dial with a frequency readout instead of waiting for the voice to speak the frequency setting.
I just got my isotunes pro in the mail today. Thank you for saving me 10 bucks! I use the worktunes in the fall and spring, but hate wearing ear cans during hot summer days.
I got 3M worktunes that look exactly like that but they are bluetooth and only have one button on the side unlike those. Love mine so far. Only complaint is if you sweat a lot ( I’m a starter so I push mow) the foam pads on the inside may Sara to smell bad. I use Clorox tho and it works sort of. We’re only $50 and I would buy them again.
I use Sony ch1000xm4 headphones. 31hp Super Z BR800x Stihl blower and can't hardly them them running. But definitely would like to try some of these that you are showing to check them out. Thanks for the videos you put out...and the effort you put into your videos.
You should check out the Stihl Dynamic Bluetooth headphones. You can take calls or listen to your music with a push of a button on the side. They are very comfortable and durable. Only downfall is that they sell for nearly $130. I would get them for yourself or managers only
I use the 3m muffs...not a business mower..just my yard and the gun range...lol...my ears sensitive to loud noises...been wearing ear protection for 26 yrs
Hope your guys wear the protection, I’m very impressed that you provide these for your employees. Hearing loss is real, I learned that but much to late!! Huh??!!
I bought my work tunes at meijer for 60.00 the one thing I love is I've been using them the whole season and the battery Is still at medium but I only cut grass once a week. Support your local store as aposed to online
Great topic for me right now, leaf cleanups starting soon here in the northeast as well as starting to prepare for next spring (registering a business and going full time for the first time, super nervous lol). Currently I use the basic Apple wired headphones with a pair of the head cans over top , provides good noise cancelling as well as good function. the Apple headphones have that little button on them that allows for really easy access to calls, skipping songs, volume etc. love your channel, been sending your vids non stop to my future business partner !
I use Plugfones Liberate there from Menards. There pretty good. Last all day on a full charge. And keeps loud equipment pretty muffled down. For $90 can go wrong with them.
I have used many many many headphones over the years all the way back to when the ipod first came out I had a baisc set of earmuffs I cut apart regular headphones for the speakers and rigged up an mp3 player mounted to the frame of them.... I just do not get the isotunes people rave about. They are a pain to put in and out of your ears, still have wires and the sound is about the worst ive seen out of any headphones... They barely blocked out sound also... I just don't understand... I have bought 2 pairs and tried them thinking maybe one pair was defective. They look fairly nice and quality build but I just don't see the appeal. My go to is any pair of bluetooth over the ear headphones with noise cancellation.
@@CA34562 I tried all the different sizes, Followed directions, smushed the foam... inserted and let them expand. They just weren't as good as the over ear style
Bro I have had a set of apple I pod pros for over a year. I have dropped em in mud water dropped the case in a gutter couple times very happy I bought the iso tunes and wasn’t impressed
I just bought the 3M Worktunes Connect. Same AM/FM radio and it has Bluetooth in them. Should have added those into the review. They are awesome! You have an older model of those.
@@Libdiddy Still love them. Have even used them when snow blowing and they kept out the cold pretty well. I’ve honestly changed the batteries once with somewhere around 15-20 hours of use at least. Can’t go wrong buying them. Plus they have a small inset foam pad on the top of the headband, so if you wear a baseball cap that has the rivet piece at the top, the headband won’t press into that. So it’s removable like that.
Late to the watching this video, but I am definitely trying to determine the best ear protection for my Simplicity Contender zero turn mower. A decibel meter app on my phone indicates peaks of 115 dB with average being around 90+. I purchased a pair of ProHear 033 that are rated around 30 NRR with Bluetooth along with AM/FM radio. However, the noise coming through them is too loud to hear any thing on the radio or Bluetooth broadcast. ProHear 033 is not doing a good enough job of noise reduction as far as I am concerned. I tried my old Bose Quiet Comfort 15 noise cancelling earmuffs and they reduce the sound level to a lower level of noise, that is tolerable, but I didn’t try to listen to any thing through the 3.5 mm port. However, at times the Bose was being driven to its limit of noise cancelling. If you have any further updates on what are now using, it would be appreciated.
I think it’s funny when people say in their videos “a lot of you guys are always asking me....” Making it sound like one out of three comments is asking about hearing protection. I like when people are more honest and say things like “I’ve been asked in the past about hearing protection” or “people have commented asking about hearing protection...” the way he puts it he’s making it sound like everyone watching his videos is constantly asking him about hearing protection. Com’on dude!
Hey Brian I like your videos as I'm a new upcoming lawntrepreneur. I have worked in manufacturing most of my life around loud machines I'm very big on safety. I want to express that this has nothing against you personally Brian but there is a huge lawsuit right now against 3M products as for 10 years they sold defective hearing protection to American military personnel that were even worn in battle times and they knew about it and didn't care because they're worried about the American dollar. I personally will never ever ever ever again buy anything from 3M you couldn't give it to me for the rest of my life for free I would put everything in a pile and I would burn it after peeing on it. Normally I watch your videos from front to back but this one because it has 3M involved in it I am skipping this 1.
Hey bud sorry to hear about that. I don’t agree with tons of companies but I still use a lot of their products.. do what you want of course! Thanks for watching when ya do!
I have a pair of $20 Skullcandy earbuds. I run the cord between my shirt and my body and plug it into my phone. It cancels out a lot of the noise from the mower.
@@attackroflchopter4403 i was thinking about picking up the isotunes earbuds shown in this video then wearing the 3m optime 105 over those, do you think that would we fine to listen to music while mowing with both of those on or could it be damaging? just curious because i saw that comment
Great video. I been using the iPods and my issue with the wireless is dropping them. Hit a spider web or something and wipe it off and scoop the pod right out the ear into the ground and then the hunt is on. Also the iPod case is magnetic. Something I’m sure will eventually come out with issues for certain health devices like pacemakers etc but like me I have a welding and automotive repair shop as well and gets loaded with metal shavings. So what’s the secret with the shovel in the back ground. Why the corners look purposely notched? Trade secret? Lol
I hate the isotunes! Won’t start in your ear when it’s hot and you’re sweaty. The cable is so grippy that when you turn your head it’ll pull one of them out of your ear. Also if you need to talk to somebody, after you pull out one of the ear buds, you have to let the foam cool down before it can expand again to fit your ear. That heat activated foam is a horrible idea. I’ve had two pair, both have broken with minimal use after just a few months. (Second pair I got with warranty replacement, not even going to go through the trouble to get another replacement.) I’ll stick to my Worktunes even though they’re hotter.
Do you think the Peltor would work well for blocking out office noise? Normally I'd use noise cancelling headphones, but I'm now working somewhere where I'm not allowed to have any wireless equipment, so I'd have to use earmuffs or earplugs.
I just got the Soundpeats T2 wireless anc earbuds. Sound fantastic and can even hear podcasts easily over the mower, a full throttle Wacker or a backpack blower. $60 bucks on Amazon. Worth every penny.
How is the sound quality on the iso free while mowing. I noticed on other models of the iso I could barely here the music over the mowers. Also you are doing great job on the content and uploads.
Bryce Kennedy hey buddy, we’ve only used the Pro’s so far, I feel they work just fine. Never had an issue with listening to podcasts or music with them.
I have a set of Isotunes xtra's and pro's! Love them both. I actually need to turn them down depending on what I'm doing. I use them for lawn care and when operating heavier equipment
Tell me about it man i got my skullcandy crusher wireless head phones $160.00 bass nob and all I got them to go to them gym but started using them on my jobsites (im a contractor) and.... I've had to glue them back together 3 times now 🤦♂️ hence the reason I'm researching for new noise canceling headphones 🎧 but also that can Bluetooth for my audio books and pod casts while I work
I used the 3m tech protection for I while, but once I found out about the iso tunes pro I used the BRIANS10 code and I will never use another pair of headphones
Which has the best audio quality? I have a set of klipsch wired s5 that have me spoiled. All the bluetooth stuff I tried sounds like crap in a can. I’m looking for something DURABLE that isolates and actually sounds decent. I’d love feedback from anyone with experience!
Awesome review man. I get tired of trying some headphone or bluetooth earbuds and they fail after a few time. And then you go out and blow another $$$ bucks thinking more is better then they fail. Back to the cheap! I'm really going to get a pair of foam earbuds. One question do the come with a extra set of foam pieces?
Hello, I'm glad I found this channel. I work for a township and we pick up leaves through the whole town in the fall. I have Peltor non bluetooth hearing protection muffs. I want to say they are 23NRR but I think I should have a higher protection. We pick up leaves with the giant leaf boxes, its like working next to a jet engine. What NRRdo you think I should be using? I would like to go bluetooth as well to listen to music. Thanks for any info or help.
None Sound better than the BEATS BY DRE and they are noise cancelling. I HIGHLY recommend them because I never sit on mine.. I get in the truck with them around my neck or on my head. They never fall and break because they are attached to my head. Only once have they almost came off from a branch in 2 years. To me when you buy 'So called tuff products you tend too treat them that way". I also use the Beats 3 ear buds.
I just use the radio type. Cheaper I'm not taking. A chance on damaging my phone, not using data and I'm not looking over to see my employee changing songs ,playlist or pandora search
@@BriansLawnMaintenance yea, i want a set that go over the head, right now all i use when i mow grass is my logitech headset that has the aux cable (logitech g633)
So hard to find good hearing protection that is in ear. They dont really design anything for the men and women who are wearing hard hats for 10+ hours a day, I know we have hearing protection we can clip to the hard hat, but listening to your blood rushing around your body for 10+ hrs a day gets really old, really fast!
Just posted my first video it would be awesome if you checked it out. It’s not that great but a lot of people show their failures so I thought I would to. Definitely left a lot of room for improvement in future videos
No offense, totally just criticism here.... I HATE when people start out their videos, Introduce themselves, explain what they are going to be talking about in the video, play their intruduction, then repeat AGAIN who they are and what they are going to be talking about in the video. We know when we click on the video, based on the titles and screen grabs. When you say, lets get into this really fast, then repeat everything again, its just slowing you down more.Just get into the video and go.

ISOtunes PRO 2.0’s and LINK 2.0’s! Brians10 saves 10% too.
How about a vid on some good safety glasses with fall here iam always in the market for some good ones with all the dust and my sensitive eyes
We just did one last week!
Brian's Lawn Maintenance hummm must of mist it ill have to look back thanks
Jabra earbuds are the way to go, dust and waterproof
I have had good luck with plugfones.
Which has the best audio quality? I have a set of klipsch wired s5 that have me spoiled. All the bluetooth stuff I tried sounds like crap in a can. I’m looking for something DURABLE that isolates and actually sounds decent. I’d love feedback from anyone with experience!
ISOTunes are all we’ve used the last 3 years now, I like them a lot. Brians10 saves $10 pal 👊
I got some bluetooth 3m worktunes they are decent
The new ISOTunes Link are coming out this week. they’re really nice. Brians10 saves $10 too 👊
Hello, I'm glad I found this channel.
Use in ear plugs and over the ear ear muffs. You can still hear the music from the ear muffs and the plugs give you the full 24-29 NRR.
lawn maintenance intro: *cue the club music*
3m has a bluetooth version too
We use Honeywell sync head sets they are bad ass
Try 2m peltor ws alert xpi great bluetooth and it has a controll app
I love this video man
Yeah dawg
Can you hear them over the lawnmower?
Oh yeah
None Sound better than the BEATS BY DRE and they are noise cancelling. I HIGHLY recommend them because I never sit on mine.. I get in the truck with them around my neck or on my head. They never fall and break because they are attached to my head. Only once have they almost came off from a branch in 2 years. To me when you buy 'So called tuff products you tend too treat them that way". I also use the Beats 3 ear buds.
I know I'm late but does anyone know if the 3m worktunes are better than the isotunes link?
Brian I see your rake over your head how are you securing it.
Just wall rake holders from Home Depot. He has a video on them. They work very very well!!! Sorry for answer the question for Brian...
Outdoor Solutions 850 LLC what he said ^
Questions. Does the Worktunes Bluetooth have AM/FM?
These do I believe yes
I just use the radio type. Cheaper I'm not taking. A chance on damaging my phone, not using data and I'm not looking over to see my employee changing songs ,playlist or pandora search

@@BriansLawnMaintenance yea, i want a set that go over the head, right now all i use when i mow grass is my logitech headset that has the aux cable (logitech g633)
I bought Woodprix once and now I have lifetime access to thousands of woodworking projects.
Worktunes is now blue tooth
Lol I use hyper tough muffs
Try 3m peltor
nice!!!
'
just no wonder why this man use a cap on the head
What? tried to watch the video but couldn't hear you
I hear ya!
ISOtune Pro 2.0’s are great, and they have a new model called Link, both are great. “Brians10” saves $10 👊
@@BriansLawnMaintenance awesome cheers buddy, will check them out!
I'm looking for blue tooth ear muffs that will clip into my hard hat.
Just posted my first video it would be awesome if you checked it out. It’s not that great but a lot of people show their failures so I thought I would to. Definitely left a lot of room for improvement in future videos
It’s titled my first video
No offense, totally just criticism here.... I HATE when people start out their videos, Introduce themselves, explain what they are going to be talking about in the video, play their intruduction, then repeat AGAIN who they are and what they are going to be talking about in the video. We know when we click on the video, based on the titles and screen grabs. When you say, lets get into this really fast, then repeat everything again, its just slowing you down more.Just get into the video and go.
Sorry but 81% of people who view a channel are there for the first time, so this is redundant BUT necessary. Thanks!
I wear ear plugs
You younger ones use up all the WIFI.
Ok boomer
Huuuuuhh!?!?
What’s that????
2:14
3m worktunes are terrible. Volume is so low they’re almost useless. Am I the only person who notices this?
I don’t disagree!
Sorry but your video here sounds way to much like advertising.
Well I don’t get paid by any of them to advertise lol, unless someone forgot to send the check. 😉
