I'm not in landscaping but i bought my first house and got my lawn mower and blower and a few other things to take care of my lawn and this helped me alot, also decided to stick with getting those neck gaitors for my face too since my allergies get horrendous easily after working outdoors and it's helped alot especially during mowing, thank you so much
I got one pair of the wrangler flex. They are nice in the summer heat but what I find is they just don’t hold up if your abusing them. But for just basic mowing and trimming they are wonderful. Hanes shirts have been a life saver this summer.
I ran across the atg flex pants from wrangler last year - absolutely love them! super light weight, grass and water wicks off. Had to have them for mainly the trimming but do a lot of outdoor carpentry as well. Love the zip side pockets and for like 26 bucks cant beat them. There was no way I was going to pay 125 for kujos but did give them a shot glad I did but they are still over priced. What are you gonna do, they designed them well and don't dig grass out of the shoe. Shirts - anything dry fit, again wicks moisture, grass doesn't stick, always looks fresh, not wrinkled, always looks crisp. If your wearing anything cotton you need to step up your game, clients see you as the dirty, sweaty, stretched out creepy lawn guy -- just sayin
Just started in Maryland doing landscaping, so far I've done mulching, grass cutting, some small pond cleans, I love it , did construction most my life , I have some uv shirts I wear that are long sleeve and your tip about the body armors really paid off 💪
In NC, I’m wearing Free Soldier pants from Amazon. Waterproof and breathable, super comfortable, roomy enough but still cool looking. My wife just bought me 32 Degrees long sleeved wicking shirts from Costco and they rock. Probably similar to the Hanes. I need to get some more!! Use AirPod Pro’s which have noise cancellation and are pretty effective even with the blower on my back. Finally, just bought some Kujo shoes and hands-down the best purchase in a long time! I have gone through two pairs of Keens and they don’t come close. They’re really just built for a different purpose compared to the Kujo’s. Those are all I will buy moving forward at this point. Keep up the great vids Brian!
I wear the Isotunes too, but I also wear a set of cans over them. Works especially great while running an edger or trimmer. During the summer I wear Wrangler Riggs pants, then switch to the Dickies once the weather turns cool.
Wrangler 'carpenter' Jean's come in tan or blue at Wallyworld for $20. I've abused the hell out of them and they last about 1.5-2 years, before the knees get holed-up. They look similar to what Brian has on. Same for the neon lime shirts. Cheap at wallyworld and good. I hate the look of 'fisherman' hats, but I prefer them over normal to cover the ears. Shoes that have a beefy toe (for kicking rocks or debris out of the way) and that keep dirt from getting down into the shoe and between the toes. Currently using some Keen brand.
@@josephrice2563 I'm on my second pair of Keen's. They're really good. My feet were sore for years until I switched. $200 Canadian per pair, but really a huge difference compared to cheap shoes.
I have switched to wrangler outdoor mens flex pants and long sleeve company shirts. Complete game changer. Been running kujo shoes since last spring. On my second pair. I am going to order some kujo boots
I always wondered why landscapers wore those long sleeve shirts and now that i work as a park groundskeeper, i finally get it. They feel fucking great when you're out there.
For Shirts I wear "Arctic Cool" moisture wicking. They keep you warm on the cool days and cool on the warm days. $29 a shirt For Pants I wear "Dickies" Khaki Cargo pants. They are thick enough to keep me warm on the cool days and cool on the warm days and last a long time. $25 a pair Shoes I'm currently wearing the Kujo shoes but I'm still iffy on them. $100 Headphones I wear Mpow Flame and Mpow H12. The flame is like the wired ones you're wearing and the H12 are the ear muff kind. Great brand great price. $15 for the flame and $45 for the H12
Duluth Trading makes some great gear! Firehose are pretty heavy for the summer. Check out their Duluthflex Dry On The Fly! Much lighter still very durable! Been wearing them for a couple years and still no holes!
I just bought a pair of Carolina boots. They are waterproof, fit great, I can walk all day long and my feet don't ache. I went to Tractor Supply and got some of their inexpensive pants. Got a couple pair of khaki pants this time. Now I look more like the boss that I am.
What style/model Carolina boots? They use to be my favorite when they 'were' Made In USA I had the ones with "pillow cushion" inside & flat bottom soles.
Brian, I run 5.11 tactical pants “5.11 tac urban”line to be exact. They flex, breathe, and are lightweight. But durable as well. And look very professional.
Thank you for your video I'm working on my new property thats way overgrown. I hurt myself lastnight so I decided to take a few moments to watch videos. Thank you
@@BriansLawnMaintenance yes, they last. I've used mine 10 years as a volunteer firefighter and they still are going strong. currently use them while I cut grass.
in hot weather get the frog tog cooling towel, and the hat too if available. get 'em wet wrap around the neck and tuck inside the shirt collar. the evaporation will keep you cool for 2 hours- then repeat.
Great video Brian, my green shirts that I ordered from you came and warn them for a week and they are awesome! The Kujo boots are expensive but they are awesome for landscaping and tree work and I love them for sure!
Duluth Dry on the Fly (DOTF) is the only way to go. I wear the 4 oz. or 4.7 oz. Lightweight pants. They last me about 1 year. ~$60 on sale and Regularly $80-90. Totally worth their money on the hot humid days. I also prefer a work polo and wear Duluth Armachillo which is also a cooling blended shirt.
I love my red cap cargo pants in grey. The kugo hardware shoes are awesome. Thanks for the discount. And underwear does mater. Don't want to be chaffing on those hot days. Lol
As we speak about the subject about the heat and weather why don't you have anything in your trailer to circulate the hot air out of the trailer especially using solar panel fans that would take the heat out of the trailer that would also help or another option also is to put a RV style air conditioner on the rooftop of your trailer that would run while your vehicle is in motion at certain temperatures and then when it's in park it would used only the solar exhaust ..... I would definitely put multiple exhaust fans that are powered in a straight line depending on the size of the length of the trailer for every 8 ft I would put one exhaust fan because you are going by cubic space not by foot of the trailer to empty out the hot air.......
Nice video man. I use Hanes & Gildan shirts, typically a 50/50 blend that wicks and is durable. Wrangler pants/jeans all the way and i wear the Timberland PRO Titan 6" boot with the anti-fatigue sole. I have had 3 pair and love them, even though they can get a little hot in the summer. I also wear the Condor Agitator or Kleenguard Nemesis safety glasses with the gray/smoke lenses. Keep grinding brother and stay safe out there, enjoyed the video!
Yes we were the same Hanes shirts or where the Duluth pants quick dry flex hose seemed to be a little bit better in summer and I've always worn red wing boots
Been rocking Dickies 874 work pants for 18 years. Usually have 6-8 pair for the season and they last a long time. And Hanes T-shirts, 50/50 blend. I sweat through all my gear on those humid days too!

You should try a pair of the $20 wrangler hiking pants lightweight, stretchy and durable... I work at a shed building place and all the guys where them...
Loose fit cargo pants and dry fit long sleeves like what you have in grey, but I would wear a wife beater underneath which I'm think is where I mess up at.
Miami heat 98 digress and 100 percent humidity. Down here we use long sleeves Gildan 50/50 and Dikies work pants work boots eather Timberline pro or Wolverine all have to be water proof cuz up here the turf is always wet in the mornings.
The Hanes shirts have been a life saver this summer. Hate not having my logo and stuff but can’t find a local shop to print them. Well can’t even find a local shop to answer the phone. I will say check out the Hanes x temp. With the wrangler stretch fit pants x temp and Hanes cool dri shirt probably the only thing that has kept me going this summer. I might be the only lawn care guy yet not rocking kugo though lol

Duluth is the absolute best. I can’t do pants tho. Firehose are awesome for cooler seasons , but armachillo shorts have been key! I have no regard for my legs when it comes to trimming ...I’d rather be cool
For us down here in Atlanta it’s Columbia shorts same type of shirt but short sleeve and Solomon speed cross fives the Cujo’s just don’t have the grip to go up these Pinestraw Hills down here
Jerzees "Sport" polyester shirts and currently Tru-Spec tactical pants (gotta stay with the "BigSarge" theme! 😁). The shirts are lightweight and cool until they get drenched in sweat. If i catch a breeze, it feels good, but otherwise I just deal with it. The Tru-Specs don't last as long as I would expect, and I've found that the crotch tears rather easily. I think I'm gonna "bite the bullet" and give the 5.11's a shot.
Please help. My man is a landscaper. Our anniversary is coming up. I want to give him a gift of nice, comfy, workwear for this summer… I appreciate you guys….
Good thing about the polyester shirt you can Sublimation Printing on them, my sponsor in California sends me all the long sleeve shirts I wear with his logo on them in my videos. I’m about to get my logo printed on them, better than silk screening for polyester.
the company i work for is cool if we wanna work in flipflops and a bikini, and ya thats cool... but ya its not cool to get super sunburned or eaten by blood thirsty flies. i do flower grew so im pretty much attracting bugs to me by breathing in the same area. then im up and down. standing, kneeling, sitting. constantly pulling my pants up, readjusting my bra. i need tips! tips that are not pants or long sleeves. cuz i dont wanna be all hot the whole day. but i also dont want bug bites. sooo...... i guess ill check out other videos for that. i knnow boots/sneakers, and long pants and sleeves are the best for this work but i just dont wanna wear those.. its too heavy n too much heat.. even tho i live in new hampshire and its low temps compared to a lot of the country but its still hot for me in the summer time considering our winters go to like 20 below and our summers hit 90 plus , then 50% or more humidity around the lakes. anyways, thanks for your video. i think ill look to see what Duluth has, and try to remember sunglasses. thanks for your video
I bought the ISOTunes Pro based on a previous video of yours. They sound great, however, the coating on them is coming off. I contacted ISOTunes and received the following. =========== "I apologize you are experiencing peeling on your headphones. Is it possible that you used any bug spray or sunscreen while wearing your headphones?
We have found that when these types of products are applied and get on the headphones it can cause this peeling to occur if not quickly cleaned off with a damp cloth and water. We have informed our manufacturer of this concern and will be making updates to the coating for future versions. Unfortunately, when these product came out in the fall/winter time we didn't have too many people using them with sunscreen so we didn't start receiving this feedback until recently. " ========== I do use sunscreen when working outside so folks need to be aware of what might happen. It is just cosmetic but at the price point, I would not expect this. They did offer to replace them but it would only happen again to the new headphones. The good news is they were very responsive to my emails and readily admitted there was an issue. Excellent customer service in my opinion.
Gotcha gotcha. I’d have to leave the exchange and replacement stuff up to them. Normally they’ve been very responsive and helpful tho. Hopefully things got worked out 👍
Love Deluth, but you have got to try academy's Magellan pants great pants for all around and beyond breathable. Only pants I use in the summer and mostly year around since I'm in Texas. love the vids Brian!
I bought dri fit type shirts I love them same deal with the water and wind man! I wear the same Duluth pants for winter. I use the flex firehose ones they breath way better imo. Try them they are amazing brother.
Hat, long work pants, hartoe shoes, shirt, & saftey glasses. I have had really good luck with Terra work wear boots😉 you won't catch me with out my Blu-tooth headphones 🤣 NEVER MOW IN SHORTS, & sandels😡 i have had, so many people come to help me mow, & they show up in shorts, & sandels, & i have to send them home
1:43 the look on the employees face was hilarious. "we got all this work to do, and the boss just wants to chit-chat about his blouse and boots" Not to be a hypocrite here, I'm all about good workwear, but that was funny
Duluth pants need to be the lighter by weight Duluth Flex for summer work. Pants for weed-wacking should be Carhartt RealTree camo. They never look stained. Although, some guys can't stand being completely covered, ie long socks, long sleeves, etc., it is important to keep tics off your body & shower 1st thing when you get home. I been buying Duluth for 20yrs & Carhartt for 30yrs. Shoes - I always wear high tops, 5" to 6" as it helps with ankle biters.
I wore shorts, t-shirt and cross all summer long for my 1st year of Lawn & Landscaping.😃😄 Trying to find some boots for women to use for this upcoming season.
@Hello Newman They didn't get tore up or anything, if I got close to rock they I might get hit by that which sucked! I'd rather tough it out anyday and just take a tiny beating every once in awhile then sweat my ass off even more. 💁♀️

I work in Michigan as well. 30-60 lawns a day in a 3 man crew depending on the city. (Bloomfield, closer to 30. Novi/Plymouth, closer to 60.) When I heard that 2-3pm I let out a big sigh.. I wish.... If you're hiring let me know. Lol Ps.. Nothing beats a nice pair of Dickies.. Little hot sometimes, yeah.. But the best pants i've ever owned.
Hay Brian would you do a How I got started video? I courently do grounds work for a state facility. Business wise I've been all over the map. Long story short I have thought about starting a lawn care business so would you do a how you started video that would be great thanks

Hey Brian! Awesome video. I just ordered some of the Hanes shirts last night so I'm looking forward to those. I would say the same you said with the boots. I got an 11 pair and they are about half a size too small... Just a quick question. How do you handle situations in which the grass grows like absolutely crazy because of the rain and then you end up having to double/triple cut the lawn and it takes so much longer? Do you charge extra? Michael
If you can get away with charging a fee, go for it. I’d have that convo with your customer first tho, don’t blind side them, just level and tell them it’s taking way more time to do the job.
Great video Bud. And... yes wearing a performance shirt & getting hit with water is like getting ice thrown on you!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!! #broinlawns

Yeah i totally get it bro. It’s been nasty!
I got one of those ugly floppy sun hats this year it sure makes a big difference.
the company i work for is cool if we wanna work in flipflops and a bikini, and ya thats cool... but ya its not cool to get super sunburned or eaten by blood thirsty flies. i do flower grew so im pretty much attracting bugs to me by breathing in the same area. then im up and down. standing, kneeling, sitting. constantly pulling my pants up, readjusting my bra. i need tips! tips that are not pants or long sleeves. cuz i dont wanna be all hot the whole day. but i also dont want bug bites. sooo...... i guess ill check out other videos for that. i knnow boots/sneakers, and long pants and sleeves are the best for this work but i just dont wanna wear those.. its too heavy n too much heat.. even tho i live in new hampshire and its low temps compared to a lot of the country but its still hot for me in the summer time considering our winters go to like 20 below and our summers hit 90 plus , then 50% or more humidity around the lakes. anyways, thanks for your video. i think ill look to see what Duluth has, and try to remember sunglasses. thanks for your video
I bought the ISOTunes Pro based on a previous video of yours. They sound great, however, the coating on them is coming off. I contacted ISOTunes and received the following.
===========
"I apologize you are experiencing peeling on your headphones.
"
==========
I do use sunscreen when working outside so folks need to be aware of what might happen.
I too love the dri fit shirts. I wear em all year. Wash nice and easy also. Light comfortable great shirt
Awesome topic brother, thanks for sharing.
Hat, long work pants, hartoe shoes, shirt, & saftey glasses.
I have had really good luck with Terra work wear boots😉
you won't catch me with out my Blu-tooth headphones 🤣
NEVER MOW IN SHORTS, & sandels😡 i have had, so many people come to help me mow, & they show up in shorts, & sandels, & i have to send them home
1:43 the look on the employees face was hilarious.
"we got all this work to do, and the boss just wants to chit-chat about his blouse and boots"
Not to be a hypocrite here, I'm all about good workwear, but that was funny
:)
OP shorts and a mesh tank top with a pair of Jesus walkers. Is how I mow.
@Hello Newman Thanks for the tip, I will definitely look into them!
Great video, Brian! Very informative and helpful.
I wear Carhartt work shorts and my legs are all cut up....but I stay cool....lolol...
Tru-Spec 24-7 Xpedition same type material but breathable vents so they aren't as hot as Duluth
I am constantly in the woods for my job. I deal with burrs, thorns, and TICKS! Gamehide's Elimitick pants the best pants I have found four working in the woods to date! Check them out. (Buy the ultra-lite they are so nice on these 90 degree days.)
I hate Ticks!!
We just got like a quick 30min rain here in ohio. Now it feels even hotter.
Any glove recs? My hands go so sweaty I lose grip on my walk behind handles.
You get off at 2-3pm? I live in Orlando, FL.
I'm at the first yard at 8am and I get to the last between 4 and 5. I get home about 6.
We try to wrap up daily around 4, Lord knows I worked my share of 7am-9pms.
Buff Bandannas and Frogg Togg Chilly pad. They will change your life
I work in Michigan as well. 30-60 lawns a day in a 3 man crew depending on the city. (Bloomfield, closer to 30. Novi/Plymouth, closer to 60.)
When I heard that 2-3pm I let out a big sigh.. I wish....
If you're hiring let me know. Lol
Ps.. Nothing beats a nice pair of Dickies.. Little hot sometimes, yeah.. But the best pants i've ever owned.
Do your pants get green over time? My blue jeans get pretty bad looking after 3 - 4 months. daily washing too.
Can I wear cargo joggers for yardwork? Or anything that's similar to joggers
the jeans help protect from the rocks the weed wacker sends at my legs
Gilden or Hanes Yellow Safety T-Shirt, Jeans, Wolverine Cabor EPX Composite Toe Mink Oiled, Dickies Work Socks.
Thank you for your suggestions
Hey, I barely started my lawn care business and I’m 15. Since o barley started do you know tips to get customers.
Keep marketing!
Duluth flex pants are the best in my opinion and Rocky boots
Hay Brian would you do a How I got started video? I courently do grounds work for a state facility. Business wise I've been all over the map. I want to be self employed but I can't settle down on any one thing. I keep rounding back to manual labor style jobs. I'm really good at lawn care work witch is kinda how I found you. I'm next door to you in north Dakota. I completely understand what you mean by it's hot. Us up here in the north aren't used to it as some of our friends say in southern California or Texas. Long story short I have thought about starting a lawn care business so would you do a how you started video that would be great thanks
Hey brother check out our podcast! Episode 1 is our story, it’s super fun and shares how we got into the industry. Fullerton Unfiltered on podcasts, one you check it out I think you’ll be hooked!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance Gotcha. Thanks for the advice! Keep up the great vids!
I hate mowing this time of year because I mow over a yellow jackets nest in the lawn. Do you have any tips?
Avoid nests with yellow jackets 🤷♂️😬
