The second lady was using the pump on too strong of a setting. I used to do that and my nipples ended up really red and raw. And mastitis is when the milk duct gets clogged. I had it too and it’s super painful because you have to massage the spot and it hurts.
Yeah I was like that's not mastitis she was probably not using the right size flange, not using lubricant, and had the pump on too strong or was pumping too long etc

Now going 20 months strong and I'm finally getting ready to wean her off, which is easier said than done.
Yeah it didn't sound like mastitis to me. As mastitis is when your milk duct gets blocked and boobs engorged ect. I think its probably case of not having correct latch with baby, wrong flange size and too strong of a setting. And lack of use of nipple cream. Its actually kind of sad she wasnt informed on all this. As with my daughter due to nipple shape i got sore used some nipple cream and was instantly good and went on for 6months.
I've been breastfeeding almost 11 months now... I recently got mastitis and my god. I had a fever, chills, my breast was all hot and excruciatingly painful. I had to put wet heat on it and use a vibrating massager while pumping to work through the clog.
I am no expert but so many times we as moms are made to feel we will not make enough milk so we over pump and then that creates more issues and oversupply.
First child, I was spraying milk like a water gun.. lol.. it just came out on its own... anywhere i was... breast pads did nothing to help... ruined many shirts
Honestly these are pretty standard breastfeeding stories. Leaking colostrum a couple months before birth, cracked nipples more than likely as a result of the wrong flange size on a pump, I feel for Tameko though being misdiagnosed is awful and happens too often, and lastly..... I've been in that position, though not in my vehicle, more so in a public restroom having to express into a sink. The last story- YES ALWAYS TAKE YOUR PUMP!!! Hahah, I had a similar story where I was going to visit family for the weekend (with my daughter) and figured I wouldn’t need my pump since she’d be nursing from me the whole time, and I only pumped while she got a bottle. At this point she was waking up 1-2 times per night still to eat. For whatever reason, the night before the trip was the first time she slept through the night and I thought hm, should I take my pump? Nahhh she’ll probably wake up tomorrow night. Nope, she slept through the night from then on LOL. My boobs were rock hard and sore the whole weekend, and I’d find myself in the bathroom expressing milk just to get some relief from the pressure!! I pumped the SECOND I got home and literally made 3x the normal amount of milk!!! Moral of the story- ALWAYS TAKE YOUR PUMP!!!!

I feel awful for each of these womens. The first three all had problems of not having proper education on what was happening which lead to their horror stories :(
The fire hose boobs was my reality too. My babies would literally choke because my letdown was so strong. I felt like a faucet someone forgot to turn off.
Yes, i know what you mean! Did it happen to you too to became a human milk fountain when the letdown was strong? 😂 It happens to me almost every day, my son it's 1 month old...it's crazy!!
The second one was my experience. It's just hammered in that you are a failure for not breast-feeding your child. I tortured myself with guilt, ultimately my son lost too much weight in 3days, and I went to formula. He is smart, and healthy today, so to all of us mommas, remember you can only do what's best for you and your baby
It shouldn’t ever hurt when you’re nursing, lactation consults would tell you that so weird as a nurse her mom would be like “oh you’re just stressing” like uh no that is not normal
No nursing can be a little painful if your overworking yourself and she was. It eventually got infected. Nursing can hurt for some people, all boobs are different.
Pain is symptom that the breast feeding sessions needs some adjusting. Simple tea bags helped when my nipples started bleeding. Gave my husband a brand new joke, though.😉

Thank God for formula! I couldn’t breast feed because we couldn’t get a good latch, and just like Krista I pushed myself. After 5 days my doctor told me I had to stop because they were so raw 😭
Thank goodness for formula. Unfortunately, nurses and doctors are not the best breastfeeding advisors. Some have improved, but even alternative health providers have trouble. Poor purple mouth. Reminds that we're still human.
Had the same experience with the first one 😭😭 I was about 6/7 months pregnant and took a nap with my bf, woke up in a puddle thinking it was drool..... turned out to be breast milk 😅 of course we freaked out and called my mom
I was starving for the first few weeks of my life because by mom couldn’t produce milk but the doctors wanted her to keep on trying then she finally switched to formula
people who think breast feeding is the only way to feed your baby are stupid, formula is just as healthy and as long as your baby is eating there shouldn't b a problem 🤦♀️
If these women would have had access to an IBCLC, they may have had better breastfeeding journeys. (I know one said they saw a LC.) I feel bad for the woman who's mom was a nurse. That had to have been super painful. It could have been mastitis, but more likely a poor latch. And those wondering about the purple mouth, Gentian Violet is sometimes used for thrush (yeast infection in the mother's breast and baby's mouth). I haven't personally used it, but heard its super messy. But good for all of them for giving it a go, its not always easy.
With my first I have her a pacifier before you could latch properly and that messed me up big time. But with this second baby she's already 4 months and I haven't given her a paci and she's doing great. Formula or breast milk both ways are great.
It levels off because the baby leaves some milk in the breast, which signals the body to produce less milk next time since not all of it was consumed. Comparatively, continuing to pump or nurse after the breast is emptied signals the need for more milk, and that’s why you get a second or even third letdown reflex. A few days of that and the average output goes up as a result.
Guys if your nipple chaps remember to use lanolin. If breastfeeding is painful consult a lactation consultant because you're not doing it right. Theres no shame in seeing someone but dont hurt yourself or give up on it so easily. Of course if you just dont want to thats fine but dont give up just because you havent learned the correct latch. Also if you feel pain when your milk is coming in this pain is normal. While the colostrum turns into real milk it can be very painful so thats up to you on if you want to push through
The 3rd woman... 💔 talk about medical negligence.. why would they put her on Diflucan if she didn’t have a yeast infection??? And then the baby 🤦🏽♀️ have those doctors never heard of a gram stain test?? 😭
tyhe nipple pain is because of bad latching or the size and strenght of your pump can also cause scabs. sorry you had to have this experience... you did so great though ! And mastitis is caused by not enough emptying of your breasts.. so because of the pain you empty less and then you get mastitis
Yes Tameko!!!! I had the exact same thing with my son as a newborn. He was on my breasts for hours! I was in so much pain, raw nipples and all. I gave in and gave him a dummy, best thing I ever did lol
my mom had my sister at 15. she felt like a failure because my sister would get sick when she would eat. turns out she was allergic. 5 years later my mom had me and was so excited to breast feed me but ended up with mastitis. she sometimes wonders 30/25 years later if thats why she feels like we didnt have a good bond. its not but its funny how thats still on her mind.
or be well informed and avoid most issues, most of the issues on this video have an easy solution that a lactation consultant could have resolved in no time.
Great stories. As a mom and a nurse I can relate to so many of these stories. Especially the breast pads. Give babies all the love they need then let them fall asleep to some beautiful sounds on my channel.
Find a good support system. These stories make it sound like everything is terrible. Anytime there is an issue you can work with an IBCLC to troubleshoot. I’m 16 months into Breastfeeding my son, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. If it’s what you want to do, you can definitely do it.
It does get easier, the first two weeks of having my daughter breastfeeding was terrible. I had an experience like the second mom, it hurt every time she latched and I wanted to give up so bad. Using lanolin cream and trying hard to fix my daughters latch and make sure it was correct helped so much! I had virtually no problems for 9 more months.
My first midwife appointment was at 20 wks (thanks to them being busy plus COVID) I had a midwife who was very judgy. Didn't like her at all. She flat out told me I was too fat to breast feed but she had to give me the info anyway. Luckily I'm a nurse and knew she was full of BS (by the way she was far more overweight than I was). But it still made me anxious. I've seen the research and real life advantages of breast milk (exclusive and mixed feeding). I'm about 3 weeks from delivery and my boobs keep leaking after a shower. About to start expressing and I don't think it'll be a problem. Shows her.
When my eldest was about a week old I fell asleep feeding him. He ended up latching off then latching back on awkwardly as I slept to where the top of my nipple was rubbing against the roof of his mouth and I got blisters. I had to pump that side for about 6 weeks waiting for it to heal enough for him to nurse that side again, all the while breaking the blisters and bleeding a little every time I pumped.
I had a similar experience to the last girl. I was at church and I just got finished doing praise and worship dancing and my daughter was in the nursery. praise and worship is about 30 minutes altogether so I go back to nursery I’m ready to go into the nursing station with the privacy and breast-feed her I get back there and they have given her the emergency bottle that I had just in case she gets hungry before I get back there and so she did not want to eat for me long story short I had to go to the bathroom and put on warm paper towels on my breast and squeeze I was so sad because that stuff was like liquid gold and I had to wash it down the sink and I usually carried the manual one just in case But the one time I need it I didn’t have it 😰😓 I cried
I used to know when my son was going to wake up from a nap, because the let down reflex kicked in 5 minutes before he woke. Also, I had a sore nipple for a hile when he was newborn, on the right side, and nearly gave up breastfeeding, but persevered, put kamillosan cream on my nipples, and they seemed to toughen up after a few months. Breast feeding then became enjoyable ===== I continued for 5 years. My son is super intelligent ------ he also never had vaccinations or antibiotics., and had homeopathic medicines if he got sick.
Hi! ☺️ My experience is similar to yours. (Sorry if my english it's not perfect, i'm from Europe). By the way, i'm still breastfeeding my 4 years old son and i'm so happy about it. I really enjoy breastfeeding. And yes, i have a strong let down too. The first year of breastfeeding, when my baby cried, my breast started to leak or even SPRAY milk! 😅 Did it happened to you too? Did you have a lot of milk even after 5 years of breastfeeding your son? Thank you 💗
My second child, my daughter, used me as a pacifier too! It was awful! Then she developed a dairy allergy, so I had to cut all dairy out of my diet. After about 6 months, we switched to formula. My daughter would stay latched on, and fall asleep, even at 3 months old, and if I tried to unlatch her when she fell asleep, she would wake up and start screaming. I'd immediately put her back on, and she would fall asleep! Basically the only way she would sleep, is if she was attrached to me at all times. I had a nervous breakdown at around 4 months old, when I was back at work, and I would come home and have a baby latched onto me all night!
these are definitely rare occurrences! my baby is 6 weeks old and breast feeding has been a lot of work but not terrible or scary by any means. breast pads are a definite MUST though, the leaking is crazy especially at first before your supply regulates
It's really not that bad. I breastfed for 6 years straight. Now I'm waiting for the next baby to breastfeed to get here. For me it was easy and I'm lazy. Washing bottles.... no thanks. Plus it's free and changes with the babies needs.
My second child latched on right away, it hurt the first time. Three weeks later I i tried to pump and let my baby latch my milk didn't really come in so I was giving him formula and I say fed is better then trying to be a perfect parent.i really did try.
Formula isn’t amazing. If you can’t breastfeed, it is absolutely ok to use it, but it’s significantly better to breastfeed if you are able to. With Krista, it was super painful, so of course formula would then have been a better choice.
I used to laugh when people said that being a mom was the hardest job on earth. Then I became a mom..... 🙃 For the record; I had to call poison control for the 4th time in 6 months this morning
My mom was still in college when she had her first baby. She was in class when suddenly she saw there is milk all over her table. She was leaking so much she had her friends cover her and she quickly rushed home.

And those wondering about the purple mouth, Gentian Violet is sometimes used for thrush (yeast infection in the mother's breast and baby's mouth). I haven't personally used it, but heard its super messy. But good for all of them for giving it a go, its not always easy.
The first woman had me laughing within a minute 😂😂😂😂😂
Same I didn't know someone could do that🤣🤣
hearing all of this just makes me hurt without hurting. women are something else, for real.
9:41 omg what a legenddddd
*blushing* it was literally the only option I had, I was in so much pain lol
With my first I have her a pacifier before you could latch properly and that messed me up big time. But with this second baby she's already 4 months and I haven't given her a paci and she's doing great. Formula or breast milk both ways are great.
All i can think during the first story was “Exactly!” Lol
I would literally produce a gallon of milk a day. I had to pump every 2 hours because of the engorgement 😥
@@BreakinBoxes Found that out the hard way, eventually I just produced what was needed🤦🏻♀️
While the colostrum turns into real milk it can be very painful so thats up to you on if you want to push through
When you are watching the video *before* youtube notifies you...
Oh my god the second one sounded so painful😨.I was horrified.
I hope I'm not the only one who loves to see Krista talking
That first story 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣slip and slide
The 3rd woman... 💔 talk about medical negligence.. why would they put her on Diflucan if she didn’t have a yeast infection??? And then the baby 🤦🏽♀️ have those doctors never heard of a gram stain test?? 😭
A yeast infection is a fungal infection. Gram stain testing is to test whether the bacteria are gram-positive or gram-negative. Two separate things.
Melissa Treece here’s a cookie 🍪 and an “A” for effort 💫
tyhe nipple pain is because of bad latching or the size and strenght of your pump can also cause scabs. sorry you had to have this experience... you did so great though !
5 years later my mom had me and was so excited to breast feed me but ended up with mastitis. she sometimes wonders 30/25 years later if thats why she feels like we didnt have a good bond. its not but its funny how thats still on her mind.
i get always the same moral out of tough mom stories: DON'T HAVE KIDS
@Faffy yeah i can imagine that :
@Faffy I think that depends on the man though
or be well informed and avoid most issues, most of the issues on this video have an easy solution that a lactation consultant could have resolved in no time.
Great stories. As a mom and a nurse I can relate to so many of these stories. Especially the breast pads. Give babies all the love they need then let them fall asleep to some beautiful sounds on my channel.
The 2nd story was what happened to me with my 2nd child. It hurts sssoooo bad!!!
I’m starting to rethink breastfeeding
Find a good support system. These stories make it sound like everything is terrible. Anytime there is an issue you can work with an IBCLC to troubleshoot. I’m 16 months into Breastfeeding my son, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. If it’s what you want to do, you can definitely do it.
I breastfed for 9 years between my kids. I loved it! It’s the best thing for babies.
In brazil over lactating is so common that we have a government funded storage of milk for the moms that don’t have enough of it
The yeast infection is called Thrush. My son and I ended up with it and it was so weirdly hilarious how purple his mouth was!
I'm not even female but I can still physically feel the 2nd story
Shows her.
I recognized that little purple mouth situation immediately. I have pics of little guy's purple mouth time. Gentian violet.
Alison is so funny omg love her
When my eldest was about a week old I fell asleep feeding him.
I was crying at the first story with the slip and slide because I’ve been there! 😂
@@Chiara.G My nursing days are over but I definitely had it happen many times. Better to laugh about it.
Love how Krista is always there. I love her personality lol pfft-
The second one made me cringe and almost cry just imagining the pain, she's a tuff one.
The third baby was so cute 🥰
I started lactating when I was like 6 months, it was so frustrating!!
The second story, OW! Yeah, I would stop breastfeeding immediately if I saw blood come out of my boobs. That is not okay.
Already one dislike bro you haven't even watched the we video 😂
🦋pregnancy does crazy things to your body. This hopefully makes you laugh now
Slip and slide and expressing milk on the side of the road?! 🤣🤣🤣
I Absolutely Love Alison
My baby is due anytime now...im scaring myself watching this lmao
these are definitely rare occurrences! my baby is 6 weeks old and breast feeding has been a lot of work but not terrible or scary by any means. breast pads are a definite MUST though, the leaking is crazy especially at first before your supply regulates
It's really not that bad. I breastfed for 6 years straight. Now I'm waiting for the next baby to breastfeed to get here. For me it was easy and I'm lazy. Washing bottles.... no thanks. Plus it's free and changes with the babies needs.
Please give Allison her own show or special
My second child latched on right away, it hurt the first time. Three weeks later I i tried to pump and let my baby latch my milk didn't really come in so I was giving him formula and I say fed is better then trying to be a perfect parent.i really did try.
Alison is forever my favorite
IT'S THE RETURN OF ALLISON
1st mom is blessed. I know some mothers that want to breastfeed but unfortunately, they can't produce any.
Formula isn’t amazing. If you can’t breastfeed, it is absolutely ok to use it, but it’s significantly better to breastfeed if you are able to. With Krista, it was super painful, so of course formula would then have been a better choice.
Yes unfortunately this is true. Helps them sleep too :)
Clicked for Allison, stayed for Allison
I used to laugh when people said that being a mom was the hardest job on earth. Then I became a mom..... 🙃
For the record; I had to call poison control for the 4th time in 6 months this morning
I relate so much with the first story
The slip and slide 😂
My mom was still in college when she had her first baby. She was in class when suddenly she saw there is milk all over her table. She was leaking so much she had her friends cover her and she quickly rushed home.
I can’t imagine how awkward that must have been to have to leave class because you leaked breastmilk all over a table.
Katherine Jeans Yeah it was very awkward for her and she was embarrassed but it wasn’t her fault lol
Ju Parisa lol I understand. As much as a childless teenager can understand.
Chiara Gelmi lol the only experience I have that is similar to you moms is me leaking on my period in middle school. but I am sure that is not close to leaking breastmilk on tables.
Katherine Jeans Same here 😂😂
Oh my days. I thought giving birth was the hard part. This nightmare never ends.
