Actually Babcock Ranch is currently the best choice. Ft Myers is rapidly gentrifying and updating. Babcock is growing like crazy and pricing is significantly less then both Lakewood and Palmer for virtually the same homes with just as many amenities already there and to be added. It is a bit rural like Lakewood was originally, but that is changing. There will be approximately 20,000 homes there. Currently there are 2,100 homes closed or lived in, with about 2,800 sold. Building like crazy and there is a golf course neighborhood completed and it’s brand new amenities center to open by May/June (looks fantastic) with several more coming soon. Phase II is just starting to sell lots and the ranch will have approximately 6 million square feet of retail and commercial space eventually-you may not have to leave the ranch to shop!! You are 50-60 minutes south of Sarasota so you have easy access to anything there. Best attraction though compared to Lakewood or Palmer-PRICING! Like everywhere in SW Florida currently it isn’t cheap, but you get a lot more home for your money there with a very bright future! Check it out.
I have a video done on Bancock. For someone that doesn't mind living remote with limited options for entertainment it is perfect. Lots of nature around.

Katrin, in other parts of the U.S. where we've lived the term 'townhouse' means a common wall home which is conveyed along with the land on which the townhouse sits. 'Condo' on the other hand has meant one owns the interior of the home but only owns the land in joint ownership. Is that what these two terms mean in your area of Florida?

As the main reason why, people are moving to Sarasota, Palmer Ranch has the lead. The feeling of an established town and of course the beaches. City people will choose Palmer Ranch while people from the suburbs and new home buyers will endeavor the fresh atmosphere of Lakewood Ranch.

Hello Eric P. There is no clear cut answer. A villa could be a single family home or could be connected. You would need to check and see how the home was set up by the builder. For example, is it a homeowners or condo?

Usually means a duplex, two homes joined together, they usually have 1 floor each. So villa is a fancy term for what amounts to a 1-floor townhome.
