Simple, stew Mac had fender 9.5 neck radius. Both my telecaster and stratocaster have 9.5 radius. I just replaced the nut on my tele' and it is so much clearer, crisper and louder than the old nut ‼️👍
Well I am so happy to run across this video. I never could tell on ebay the right one to fit my guitars. It was always close, but no cigar. So most of my guitars when I upgraded them went to brass saddles and brass nuts or brass and bone nuts.
I have a Faith Saturn acoustic with a TUSQ nut, and it punches way over its weight. Great guitar using a great nut. I also have a G&L Legacy Tribute Series Strat that has a plastic nut which is fine, but also have a Harley Benton HB35Plus which could benefit from a new nut, and although the G&L is a great guitar as is, I am considering a new nut for it as although I don't get detuning problems because of the brilliant dual fulcrum bridge, I would like to enhance its sound even more as it is my go to guitar. It will be TUSQ nuts on either or both.
curved bottom nuts are usually for American made Fender guitars... most other are flat bottom.... regarding Radius, it's just a slight adjustment to the slots to match a radius if you are having issues with D and G being too high, or the E and E being too high...
If you can sand the sides, bottom and width down, then why isn't string spacing (E to E) the most important measurement? It's the only one you can't change after purchase.
Ok, if you could send us a few measurements, we don't have that one here... length x thickness x height and E to E spacing ( center of each slot) and we should get you pretty close... please send to support@graphtech.com thanks for asking..
The nit radius is displayed for each nut on the website, so choose the correct radius , or you can adjust the slots yourself if you have the files to do that
Hi what about the slot width sizes ,so they are matched to the strings I require a pre slotted XL nut for strings 46-9 this is important to stop string binding do you need to know what guage of strings are being used 8.9 10.11.12? This is for a PRS custom thank you
All of our nuts are slotted for most standard sizes. Only once you go past a set of 13's do you have to consider modifying the slots. But usually only the larger bass strings. You can easily use a clipped end of the string and run it along the slot a couple times to widen the slot. Just to get a nice, even "U" shape to cradle the string.
geeze - It would be really nice if one could call with thier guitar model type and number and you guys tell us what will work... this is is just too much mumbo jumbo ..
One thing that this video doesn't tell you, is when you measure nut height start from your foot up to one or both nuts. But give it a little extra for a meaty nut. Other than that, this video will help you bust endless ropes of nut. Cheers!

I really want to put these nuts on my strats. I'm army pensioner so my guitars are all I have. I've replaced the pegs in an acoustic and very happy.

The alternative title for this video is: “Which nuts? Theez Nutz.”
Hi thanks for the info in this vid. Does the radius of the fretboard matter when choosing the correct nut?
it does. as far as i know, some Tusq come with radius (curved bottom) and others are flat 🙆🏻

What about radius?
So what about matching the fretboard radius?

I need a nut for a seven string guitar. Is the e-e actually b-e or is it still e-e where do i measure from? Thanks (:
Hi, you need to measure from the B to E spacing for a seven string
How to find the radius of the tusq saddle and nuts?
Just email support@graphtech.com and they can answer any questions regarding size, radius, etc 👍
@@realtusq okay.. thank you
What if the nut is missing?
Thanks for that 👍
That's easy, it's next to the left one.
......should be there beside the left one.
I always need to shim my nut for slide guitar. Why can’t you make a tall nut and market it for slide!!
Try looking next to the left one ;-)
Looks like it was filmed in 2004
Did a teenager make the soundtrack? Goddamn
