Been a while since watching your videos. Loved this one Chris, really entertaining to watch, music and video of the amazing landscapes helps me escape there too for 30 minutes. Beer on it's way, keep up the amazing work. Cheers
Beautifully filmed Chris you’ve certainly come a long way since those early days. I’m impressed that you now have 20.8K subscribers, I fully remember when you were doing a give a way for your first 1K. Nice to see Ant embracing the wild winter scene in his tent. Well done to you both a truly FIVE STAR FILM ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cheers Mike 🍺
Another good video Chris! Always like when you and Ant get together for a camp. Glad you two got out of there before the full force of that storm arrived. Take care.
Looks a belting tent that Chris. I'm enjoying my new Vango Cairngorm at the moment and need to get it up to its namesake at some stage lol 🙂. Good camp spot that. I prefer it to the top of Fairsnape. Better views but you just miss the sunset 😕. Definitely a better choice in the wind though cause there's nowt stopping it from the Sea when you're up on Fairsnape. A beautiful area with lots of great places to explore 👍. I've been up there loads recently with groups of teenagers from work . Love the Trough of Bowland. Atb Rick n Billydog
Yeah nice one Rick - got off in the nick of time by the looks of how things panned out! Quality up there - lovely area. Bring on more snow and weather for the next one! Thanks for giving it a watch mate.
Brilliant camp again Chris. I know exactly where you are as I have camped pretty much in the same spot with my grumpy 18yr old lad. Love that fell as its only ½hr drive from me and views are great although the start is fairly steep unless you do the circuit in reverse. Just goes to show how the weather changes, but with the right gear and pitched properly, the take a right hammering but keep you safe and cosy. I am interested to see Ants vid aswell as I have a bobby 1 on his and Leons recommendation and still yet to test it. When I was up there last I am clearly swayed by you guys, as I did it in my vango tempest 200 but I am looking forward to trying the OEX. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing again.
What a pleasure to be out in conditions like this and likewise a top bloke like you Chris. Very variable weather conditions throughout the camp and some epic views also, when the clag came in in the morning mate!! 😮. The MSR looks to be a fab tent and this was a good test for it as a 4 season tent, not so keen on inner first though. Loved it pal, here's to the next one and big thanks for the shout out mate, I appreciate that 👍
Nice tent mate and great vid. I know exactly what you meant by climbing into a newly put up tent "tent or den rush". It's what we had as kids. We still have it, great stuff Chris 👍
That looked a great camp mate. You're dead right about the 'den' feeling, when you get in out of the elements. Thanks for the shout out - maiden voyage for my MSR Reactor, this week. Doing a day camp, into the Cairngorms, with my boys. The MSR's performance will be crucial to putting hot noodles in their bellies post haste!😆 Glad you got home safe. Parked up in Storm Isha last night. Got blown all over the place, and not in a good way! 🚛💨👊🏻
Brilliant camp, and glad you got a bit of snow for a while at least. None here in staffs yet 😏.. But hoping to see some at the back end of this storm 🤞 ..

What a difference a day makes. Lovely bit of snow on the ground; makes the adventure all the more enjoyable. Nice video that Chris, really enjoyed it. Good to see Ant out with you too. ATB mate 👌❄️⛺️
I know what you mean about being in your tent especially in the knowledge that it’s going to pretty stable, whatever the conditions and knowing you have all the right kit for the conditions. And on the subject of kit, what are those gloves and mitts you had with you and how good, especially the mitts, are they?
Have you used a durston xmid yet? Would be great to see a video of this. I have one I used on the west highland way in really strong winds gusts of 50mph it withstood, but I don't think I pitched as well as I could have as sides caved in quite a bit ... 😂
That sounds like it's done well for a trekking pole tent! I've not tried anything by Durston yet, but always like the look of their gear - seems to be quality and well thought out.
@@MCMOutdoors it is my favourite tent so far! Very sturdy felt like the tent wanted to lift off the ground in Scotland in the wind. Rain day after day lol. Walls caved in as I had not guyed them out only peaks and corners of fly. Would love to see what your impression is if you do get a durston one day :)
Great video and glad to see the tent made it through ok. It looked pretty vulnerable when you just had the inner pitched. It looked tall and narrow but the extra guy lines on the fly would no doubt make a difference.
Yes mate - it's not designed to stand or pitch just the inner - I was just showing the inner shape etc for the video. I'd love them to make this pitch as one.
Nice one that. Cold and windy. For a change 😂😂 that bobcat is doing well like. When he’s just sat there cooking away 😂 It’s the future. Unbelievable. Glad you both survived the night anyway. You’re right about not setting off in a storm. It’s meant to get bad later. There’ll be someone though. Catch you later mate. Send wizz lux and string bean
The old Bobcat is still not down. I think he's going to have to set fire to it - it's the only way. Yep, I thought we would see a bit more of it, but no point putting yourself in 80mph winds just to break some kit. ATB - send Hizy Bobby camp chair with free wind rope.

Hi Chris, just looking for some advice. I’ve been looking at a family tent for me, my wife and 6 year old son. Was looking at the Coleman coastline 3 man + tent for 3 or 4 days in this country. Is this a good tent ? Have u got any better alternatives? Love your videos
Hi mate, I've never tried that tent..... Coleman make some great tents and good price point - stocked in Go Outdoors so they will always have a few set up to try. MSR make some nice family tents too, the Habtitude 4 and 6 - BAGS of room and something a bit different too.
You got this out quick, same day you got home? I was out Friday and Pendle had a lot more snow. This camp is bugging me. I know you went from Fell Foot but not sure where you pitched. I thought i knew but if it was, you must have gone a long way round. I'll have to pay the pike a visit, I've been hundreds of times but not for 17 years. I'll have at least another 60 camps this year, I'm sure I can fit it in. Great video.
Yes mate, was a lot of moisture in the air ahead of the storm front too. I'm hoping for some serious stuff when I'm next out..... thank you for watching
Hi Chris I've noticed in a few of your videos that your gloves seem to offer great dexterity, do they provide much heat and what gloves are they? Great to see you out camping again 👍🏼
Hi mate. The gloves in this video are Hestra Ergo Grip Active - they're great for dexterity and hard wearing - although Gore Wind Stopper fabric so great for cutting it out, the insulating properties are poor so they're not great for cold, hence taking some mitts too. Glove up for tasks, mitts when chilling in the tent.
Thanks lad, I've tried a few different pairs of gloves but but just can't come across what I need yet so I'll check the Hestra's out. A good warm set of mittens for relaxing in was simple to choose.
Great camp and video, Chris. Thoughts on the carbon poles on the MSR? Im considering getting a tent with carbon poles but im a bit paranoid about the rigidity on them vs aluminium.
Thanks for watching mate. Yeah, the poles are pretty ace on this tent - they don't feel like they're going to split like others I have used, none of that dodgy creaking when siting them! The space in the tent is absolutely brilliant, esp vs the weight and pack size...... The only negatives for me are the inner first (given UK climate) and the fly not extending to floor - would be full of spindrfit in the right conditions. Those niggles aside, it's a quality little shelter.
Hi chris, great video 👍 Would you be able to recommend any good ear plugs ? I tried using my air pods with some relaxing music but that only lasts so long before the "low battery" starts screaming 😂.
Mine were just cheap ones from boots - kind of like a soft, malleable gel...... says they're reusable but I think that's a bit gross :-) They do the job well though - I woke at 01:30 ish and would not have got back to sleep where it not for them
Cheers mate - yes, this beer really stood out (and I've tried a fair few haha), found it in a local Morrisons - was excellent. Hoping for some snow the next time I get out - also on the hunt for an Abisko Friluft 45, but not managing to track any down yet - it's either that or a Kaipack. ATB

I have considered the Access 1 but the near vertical back wall looks like it could be a problem if high wind hits it square on, what’s your take on it?
@davidhale1568 Yeh that's for sure it could be, but I generally try to pitch on the predicted wind direction and I not had an issue with that. There 2 extra guy point on both vertical sides, so I've attached extra guys. I owned the Hilleberg Unna for a while and that had a bigger area to hit if the wind changed as well. The worst I've been out in Access is about 35 mph and it was fine, just bent a lot but was fine.
To be honest I would rather have a couple of hot toddies rather than a couple of beers but fair play, every one to their own. I have the winter GoPro batteries and was out in -7C conditions last week and only had to change the battery once and was out for 6 hours 🤔. It looked really scenic and so nice to see the snow again, something we seemed to always get every winter when I was a kid. Real pleased to see it is not only me that had a massive belly when having a Down jacket on, so nice one catching Ant from the side😁. Beef and potatoes sounded real nice and filling and looked so much better than the normal boil in a bag. Glorious morning view over Pendle Hill and despite this storm coming the temperatures sure have risen fast. Your beef and potatoes looked okay but I preferred Ant's, which looked very nice, cheers Alan
Wow - that's some battery life ...... my Hero 7 is very old now, any cold weather and it just zaps the battery life. Cracking day on the fells - I applaud any bloke who has loose fitting down jackets and likes craft beer. ATB, Chris
Lapskaus is possibly linked (historically and etymologically) to lobscouse, a European sailors' stew or hash strongly associated with major ports such as Liverpool. You should know that having a scouse accent! 😄
Amazing how many folks who really enjoy the great outdoors also refuse to drink shite mass produced generic beer. Someone should study that correlation!
Lol, your Scandinavian accent need a little more work, although poteter was not too bad and your au sound in Lapskaus was perhaps too British, the rest of the word was pretty good. Storfekjøtt, needs a little more practice, though. But it is far better to try and slightly miss, to not try at all. So all the kudos in the world for that. :)

ATB, Chris
Glen Affric Brewery is in Birkenhead 😉
Yeah, someone else mentioned 👍
@@MCMOutdoors tut tut fancy not knowing that Chris 🙂, anyway cracking video 🙂👍
Hi again. I like to drink Grand Marnier when I am out camping in the cold. Yummy.
A fine choice!
Great to see yous out chris a fantastic tent, looked a cold one but really enjoyable all the best mate 👍 🏔🏕
Glad you enjoyed it Gaz - will sort out heading your way for a camp in a few months if you're up for it - or meet in the Lakes; either or pal
Loved that camp, some harsh conditions but well worth it for the views in the morning. Great to see you back out. I'll give Ants video a watch now.
Excellent - thanks for watching Geoff - Ant's will probably be up tomorrow!
top vid pal, pity i couldnt make it :( nice little tent that. did you say that you have to seam seal it?
It came with seam sealer - but I've not read you had to - I haven't and it was absolutely dry as a bone under the fly mate
Lapskaus is possibly linked (historically and etymologically) to lobscouse, a European sailors' stew or hash strongly associated with major ports such as Liverpool. You should know that having a scouse accent! 😄
Haha. Know what Scouse is, just not Lapskaus 👍

Cheers Alan
Amazing how many folks who really enjoy the great outdoors also refuse to drink shite mass produced generic beer. Someone should study that correlation!
Connoisseurs, with a zest for exploration 🏕️
Lol, your Scandinavian accent need a little more work, although poteter was not too bad and your au sound in Lapskaus was perhaps too British, the rest of the word was pretty good.
Storfekjøtt, needs a little more practice, though.
But it is far better to try and slightly miss, to not try at all. So all the kudos in the world for that. :)
Haha, I have zero idea how to pronounce it properly - was just messing around. Thanks for watching 🏕️
