@@VRManCave yeah that's exactly it, I have never gotten sick from any other VR game. I can play all the high motion VR games with no issue but the weird look of ASW doesn't go well with my stomach.
If you mean the vignette you see on the sides, you can find that option under Comfort - Vignetting in this and most games. I don’t remember exactly where it is but you’ll surely find it in settings.

I'm new to vr. I finally took the plunge with psvr2 for ps5. I just saw this is coming to psvr2 and this review has me really excited to play it. I'm really digging vr so far.
Yeah I hope to get a PSVR2 soon and will definitely be trying it out, especially cause the PS5 version should be way closer to the PCVR version than the Quest one, so I expect it to look incredible. Really glad to hear you're enjoying VR, welcome to the fam! 😄
They had a demo of the PC VR version available during Steam Fest, but it’s not yet available on PC, just Quest 2 for now with SteamVR coming later this year.
they did recently add a multiplayer feature but the point you made about making a base exactly how you wanted i agree i feel like im limited and i have to search around for buildings which makes me do the story mode while im in survival

@@Equinoxes_Gaming when you put the rock and stick together its just like in the regular game it will make a weak axe... you can still tie the rope around it to make a better axe as well
For anyone interested in this type of game, you should def check out The Forest! it isn't pushed as a vr title, but it does support it and quite well... all the crafting, surviving and exploration you could hope for, with a side of fd up monster enemies that want to eat you alive!

I have a question when playing and building a shelter are you sometimes forced to go forward or not stay in one base spot and in survival mode does the map change
You’re not necessarily “forced” to move, but it will make it difficult if your shelter is too far away from your objectives. As far as I know the map does not change in survival mode.
As an absolute veteran of the PC desktop version of Green Hell, I am heavily considering trying the VR version out for the quest, but I'm worried it will be too hard for me to adjust to the absolutely different gameplay in what is supposed to be extremely familiar and ULTRA easy... Like I am next to IMMORTAL on the game, but I'm gonna have to start from scratch if I play it in VR. Still though it looks like it could be a ton of fun in VR, so I'm on the fence about it.
That's some great info Justin, thanks for sharing! I've never played the original PC game, but the fact that the mechanics are the same says a lot. The VR version could definitely have benefited from more immersive mechanics on the crafting side of things, but I still really enjoy the game and we still have the multiplayer update pending, so a lot to look forward to.
I've got both the quest and PC versions and my only issue with the Quest version is the loading screens. If i'm gonna be immersed in the jungle trying to survive it kind of breaks it when i go from one area to another and get a loading screen. It's for that reason i prefer the PC version as it's all already there and you can walk straight to the tribal village with no loading screens.
Where the hell is the fishing dock in the quest version? I've been trying to find it for the past week. I've been there countless times on console and can't find no videos or info of anyone finding it on the quest.
The map is smaller than on the PC version indeed, and I did mention in the video as well that the crafting is slightly simpler as well compared to the PC VR one. That being said, it's still a fantastic game on Quest 2 and a miracle that they could get it running on a stand-alone device.
@@VRManCave is the map still decently big on the quest 2, i’ve heard people say it’s like running in a circle and always coming across things you’ve came across.

It has comfort options in the Settings so I would say yes. I also recommend you take it slow and try 5-10 minutes without any comfort settings and you will start to get used to VR more and more and slowly start getting rid of motion sickness.
Haha, the scoring is what I'm not comparing to PC against, since if I did, it would be a 2/10 in graphics, but for a Quest 2 game, it's much higher as mentioned in the vid. Thanks for watching!
They really missed the mark with that. It would be fun to be able to play it stand alone. But I’ll wait til I can have better visuals with the PC version
@@syntheticsolace yeah, as great of a job as they did with the Quest version, I’m looking forward to the PC version too. If they keep all the mechanics from the PC VR demo I tried, it seems it will not only look great but also be way more complex. Sadly the demo they had during Steam Fest ran horribly, with dips down to 30-35 fps on my PC, and I can normally run most VR games on high settings with a stable 80fps or so. Hopefully they optimize it before release.
I'd say it depends a lot on which art style you prefer. For me, I prefer Green Hell, but Song in the Smoke is also a very good game, I'm just not a fan of the art style.
I couldn't get on with the Quest Version. The console version has sprawling areas as where in the Quest version you are constantly stuck in narrow valleys. Just not as fun imo.
I really hope so! They did say the game will have co-op a while ago, but haven’t heard anything since. Not sure if maybe co-op is just coming to PCVR or Quest too.
Would you recommend this game to a 14 y/o? I heard that there was swearing and natives that you can kill and stuff. Is there a gamemode with purely survival and no natives? Does the main character swear all the time in every mode?
Hi there! To be honest, if you're concerned about swearing and violence, this is probably not the right game. There is a survival mode with just survival and no natives, but there's no way for you as a parent to only limit the game to work in that mode, as your child can easily just switch modes while in VR if you're not supervising them. NO don’t get it IT IS NOT OPEN WORLD ITS LINEAR look at the map he says look at the size but If you pay after your paths are laid out you can either go forwards or backwards and that’s it
Haha, not particularly, but it seemed like a good, balanced score to express my opinion about this game compared to all the other Quest native games I've tried.
I gets a 0 out of 10 for me, because Goliath Birdeater tarantulas are not hostile, not aggressive towards humans, and not poisonous in to us in any meaningful way.

PSVR2 version just dropped and it’s so much better…not putting quest 2 down either because it’s an awesome headset but PSVR2 is amazing and will be on top for years to come
Well, while you're right that it's a bit of a watered down version of the PC VR one, it's still incredible that it can run so well on a mobile device and I still count it as a great Quest game overall.

Dark? I found it just as bright as the PCVR version. I mean without a doubt I agree that the PC version looks miles and miles better, but hey, it's kind of a miracle they got it running on what's basically a smartphone strapped to your face 😅
Honest review??? Anyone??.. So buggy impossible to play currently. Major game breaking bugs include.. 1.Not being able to craft anything(requires system restart) 2.Not being able to light any fire including torches(invisible and silent rain) 3.Killing snakes somtimes crashes game 4.Adding to tobacco to bandage causes control to not stop vibrating and tobacco falls out of game. Smaller none game breaking issues iv found. 1.Killing birds causes them to glitch out in blocks and rays of light 2.Smallest fish go invisible when killing, can still be eaten and cooked, but remains invisible. 3.Items sometimes fall through map and pop back up. 4.arrows somtimes cant be recovered after killing animal even with 100% durability on arrow. My honest review is this game is somewhat unplayable in its current state and wouldn't recommend anyone get this game untill issues are worked out in later updates. If I were to rate now id give it 2/10 due to amount of bugs.. i really wanna like this game but can't recommend anyone get this game for couple months to year.. till devs update and fix major issues.. of course unless you enjoy restarting saves over and over, making story 10x longer then it should.
Hi Rob! I'm really sorry to hear you've had so many issues with the game. If you look at the reviews on the store it has over 700 positive reviews and almost no one complained about any game breaking problems. I've personally had zero issues with crafting, crashes or stuff falling through the map and I was honestly surprised at how well optimised the Quest version is compared to the PC VR demo I tried during Steam Fest, which was a total piece of crap, full of bugs and issues. I'd say maybe try reinstalling it or just ask for a refund if it's that bad, but it's surprising that not everyone is experiencing what you are. Even other viewers here in the comments have said they bought it and absolutely love it, so I honestly dunno how your copy of the game is that bad.

Building this TH-cam channel has been my long time dream, so if you think I'd throw that away to get a few bucks from a developer, it's clear that this is most likely the first video fo mine you've ever watched. And do you think if the devs paid me I wouldn't have given it a 10/10 instead of 8.1? Plus, who would even benefit from a fake review? Cause if the game were as bad as you say, it's obvious everyone would just refund it after 5 minutes of playing it, and the developers would get hurt due to the horrible ratings on the store. I'm entitled to my own opinion, and after playing the PC VR demo during Steam Fest my hopes of this game being good were crushed because it was a piece of crap, but I was genuinely surprised and how well the Quest version worked, even if it is obviously a downgraded version compared to PCVR. This is a very very very bad port. First off you can’t even check your legs as well as craft or build half the things in the game. Because of how shotty the quest is how it only focuses on “sociability in court and a quality it is very hard to control when you were throwing a spear, crafting or simply slinging a bow. The jumbo looks very blocky very not detailed as encounters just feel random and unbeatable. I Hatcher swing my spear around violently to just kill the first puma and that took about 34 deaths. The uuoptimization doesn’t help along with the fact that some materials are very scarce because of the umoptimized and downgraded version. You barely find Brazilian nuts you don’t get half the diseases there’s just a lot of things taken away from this game. From what I can tell, incuvo has NO plans to even update the game or even polish it. For $30 in Biden’s economy, Save it for filling your tank, not this game. 2.3/10
One of the absolute worst games i’ve ever tried in VR since I started in 2019. This quest port is one of the worst performing games I’ve ever tried. It’s locked to 30 FPS and uses onboard ASW but ASW is absolute garbage. The only game i’ve ever refunded on Oculus store.
You're the only one I've heard having such issues with the game. Think what you want but I genuinely enjoyed it and it ran super smooth, even while recording in high bitrate. Good thing there's a refund policy for unsatisfied players such as yourself.

I have the original green hell. The crafting recipe/mechanics are the same. Just there’s less things to build on the VR versions

For me yes, I don’t like the art style of song in the smoke as much as it’s more cartoony, but both games are very good

100% agree here, but at the same time, it's still a great game for a Quest native title if you don't have a PC.

I really hope so! They did say the game will have co-op a while ago, but haven’t heard anything since. Not sure if maybe co-op is just coming to PCVR or Quest too.

Yes that's what I meant when I mentioned that the crafting mechanics are way simplified on Quest.

Would you recommend this game to a 14 y/o? I heard that there was swearing and natives that you can kill and stuff. Is there a gamemode with purely survival and no natives? Does the main character swear all the time in every mode?
Hi there! To be honest, if you're concerned about swearing and violence, this is probably not the right game. There is a survival mode with just survival and no natives, but there's no way for you as a parent to only limit the game to work in that mode, as your child can easily just switch modes while in VR if you're not supervising them. If you enjoy survival games then yes, I've been loving it. That being said, if you have a PC, get the PC VR version of it, it's way better.
NO don’t get it IT IS NOT OPEN WORLD ITS LINEAR look at the map he says look at the size but If you pay after your paths are laid out you can either go forwards or backwards and that’s it

I gets a 0 out of 10 for me, because Goliath Birdeater tarantulas are not hostile, not aggressive towards humans, and not poisonous in to us in any meaningful way.

PSVR2 version just dropped and it’s so much better…not putting quest 2 down either because it’s an awesome headset but PSVR2 is amazing and will be on top for years to come

Well, while you're right that it's a bit of a watered down version of the PC VR one, it's still incredible that it can run so well on a mobile device and I still count it as a great Quest game overall.

So buggy impossible to play currently.
Major game breaking bugs include..
1.Not being able to craft anything(requires system restart)
2.Not being able to light any fire including torches(invisible and silent rain)
3.Killing snakes somtimes crashes game
4.Adding to tobacco to bandage causes control to not stop vibrating and tobacco falls out of game.
Smaller none game breaking issues iv found.
1.Killing birds causes them to glitch out in blocks and rays of light
2.Smallest fish go invisible when killing, can still be eaten and cooked, but remains invisible.
3.Items sometimes fall through map and pop back up.
4.arrows somtimes cant be recovered after killing animal even with 100% durability on arrow.
My honest review is this game is somewhat unplayable in its current state and wouldn't recommend anyone get this game untill issues are worked out in later updates. If I were to rate now id give it 2/10 due to amount of bugs.. i really wanna like this game but can't recommend anyone get this game for couple months to year.. till devs update and fix major issues.. of course unless you enjoy restarting saves over and over, making story 10x longer then it should.
Hi Rob! I'm really sorry to hear you've had so many issues with the game. If you look at the reviews on the store it has over 700 positive reviews and almost no one complained about any game breaking problems. I've personally had zero issues with crafting, crashes or stuff falling through the map and I was honestly surprised at how well optimised the Quest version is compared to the PC VR demo I tried during Steam Fest, which was a total piece of crap, full of bugs and issues. I'd say maybe try reinstalling it or just ask for a refund if it's that bad, but it's surprising that not everyone is experiencing what you are. Even other viewers here in the comments have said they bought it and absolutely love it, so I honestly dunno how your copy of the game is that bad.

I don't even know where to start... Building this TH-cam channel has been my long time dream, so if you think I'd throw that away to get a few bucks from a developer, it's clear that this is most likely the first video fo mine you've ever watched. And do you think if the devs paid me I wouldn't have given it a 10/10 instead of 8.1? Plus, who would even benefit from a fake review? Cause if the game were as bad as you say, it's obvious everyone would just refund it after 5 minutes of playing it, and the developers would get hurt due to the horrible ratings on the store. I'm entitled to my own opinion, and after playing the PC VR demo during Steam Fest my hopes of this game being good were crushed because it was a piece of crap, but I was genuinely surprised and how well the Quest version worked, even if it is obviously a downgraded version compared to PCVR. It's amazing with multiplayer now
This is a very very very bad port. First off you can’t even check your legs as well as craft or build half the things in the game.
Because of how shotty the quest is how it only focuses on “sociability in court and a quality it is very hard to control when you were throwing a spear, crafting or simply slinging a bow.
The jumbo looks very blocky very not detailed as encounters just feel random and unbeatable. I Hatcher swing my spear around violently to just kill the first puma and that took about 34 deaths.
The uuoptimization doesn’t help along with the fact that some materials are very scarce because of the umoptimized and downgraded version. You barely find Brazilian nuts you don’t get half the diseases there’s just a lot of things taken away from this game.
From what I can tell, incuvo has NO plans to even update the game or even polish it.
For $30 in Biden’s economy, Save it for filling your tank, not this game.

One of the absolute worst games i’ve ever tried in VR since I started in 2019. This quest port is one of the worst performing games I’ve ever tried. It’s locked to 30 FPS and uses onboard ASW but ASW is absolute garbage. The only game i’ve ever refunded on Oculus store.
You're the only one I've heard having such issues with the game. Think what you want but I genuinely enjoyed it and it ran super smooth, even while recording in high bitrate. Good thing there's a refund policy for unsatisfied players such as yourself.
Much better on quest 3 and now has multiplayer added
